I charge $75 per hour per dog and I charge for 2 hours so $150 per dog. I walk 7 dogs at once and I do 2 walks a day with a 2 hour break in between walks. I take 1 set of dogs on Monday’s and Wednesday’s and the other set on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s each set has a morning and afternoon group and each group is 7 dogs I work 190 days a year as I take the month of December off. I recommend for anyone trying to enter the business to target wealthy areas as owners are willing to pay a lot more for there dogs to be walked. I also recommend investing in a sprinter van with custom cages in the back for transportation and multi dog leads.
Yes Yes Yes to everything you just said! The van will be so very helpful. People who have a bit of extra money are much more likely to pay good money for their dogs, which will help you to buy things for your business (like the van). Honestly, I also find that people in wealthier areas are also more willing to work with their dogs on the training that you recommend because oftentimes one of the adults in the family is home during the day. So it's a nice relationship!
Hey! I’ve been pet sitting for a few years and now I’m finally starting to get more customers so I’m so excited. Your video was very understanding. Thanks for your time.
If you are thinking of starting your own dog-walking business you may want to start volunteering at a local shelter like the Humane Society in your area. We are always in need of help and you will learn if this is really what you want to do. Plus you will learn a lot about animals and their behaviors.
I was thinking to maybe take it one step further. Perhaps you already do this. The idea of going around with a school bus just for dogs and taking the dogs to a certain park designated just for dogs
Brent Beatty I love that idea! There is a dog daycare in Toronto that does that. They have their own dog park and pack leaders will go around to the houses, pick up the dogs, and bring them to their own personal park

I came here for some help! Me and my friend are making a dog walking business to make extra money over the summer! We are getting ahead of are selfs with naming the company and making a logo. We are nervous to start a company when we are so young but I think we know what we are getting into. We are probably going to only walk the dogs in each of our neighborhoods but we are nervous about starting a small business and having it take off! We have come up with our name and logo (name is “happy paws”) wish us luck!
I made a video about this! It's in the "A Dog Walkers Guide" playlist. The short version is to avert your eyes and stand on a slight angle away from them (not fully turned away but just a little). Hold out your hand to allow them to sniff. Always let them come to you, and don't move quickly. Allow them to see that you're not a threat, and all will be well!
One good way I have found is to do a meet and greet with the dogs owner there as when the dog sees you with their owner they will less likely be nervous or protective. Let them approach you too and remain quiet around them at the start if they are a little nervous. I haven't had any problems with doing that approach plus it's good for the owner to meet you and speak in person before leaving their best friend with you!
Love this content! At one point I started making $2,000/weekly. It’s super easy to create your dog business when you love what you do and you go beyond! It will take time just like anything great does 🙌🏽

Some people prefer for their dog to go on a group walk with their dog friends rather than have them walk solo in their own neighborhood. Depends on the client! In terms of how you do them, there's a lot of working pieces that go into managing that, but it is MUCH easier to do it if you have a car and are able to bring the dogs to a dog park, rather than walk them all on leash at the same time

Hey I'm Savannah. I have taken up Dog Waking and Dog Sitting for this summer. I have a questions, Please Help: I just come across a small issue. One lady that I am walking her 2 dogs for (3 times a week) says that I walk her dogs too fast and that they come back inside panting heavily and lying down. For my other families that I am working for, I walk for 1hr. This lady told me to walk her dogs for 25mins, since it's hot, around 6:30pm. I offered to walk them 30mins, since that's closer to my 1hr rate. Today, she gets frustrated and says that she's paying for the full hour, and that I'm not doing that. I tell her that she's specifically told me to only go for 25mins. She says that I "make" them walk too fast and they get too tired when they arrive home. I have had no problem with any other family, and they have asked me to walk in the heat of the day. The lady owns a Beagle/Mix and a French Bulldog. They are both on the Obese-side and are older. The French Bulldog, already has a short snout and doesn't breathe well on the walks anyway. I think a shorter walking time is better for them to be outside anyway, and not stay out longer in the heat. I have even offered to walk the dogs separately, since the Beagle/Mix actually wants to walk normal speed. That way I can focus on each need separately. But the Lady said "No". Could you please help me understand what to do in a situation like this? Thank You!
*Aesthetic Mocha* I wish it was that easy. This lady is one who doesn’t really want to hear other opinion for her dogs (not very open). She wants to do it her way and her way only. Apparently, even it’s its harming her own dogs. She even whips the French bull with the tail end of the rope leash when trying to leash both dog up. The French bull do bite and hold onto the other dogs leash crazily. But adding physical punishment harm to this situation obviously doesn’t help and make it any less chaotic. I feel bad for the mix, because he’s sweet and let’s the French bully him.

Yes, you can :) You won't be able to get insurance or anything like that because you will be too young. What you'll need to consider is the size of the dogs, since you are 11. Don't take on any dog that is too big for you! I'd also stick to walking one (maybe 2 if they are not too big) at a time
In Ruff Company thank you!! I have two Newfoundlands at home and can handle them very well so I think I’ll be fine with bigger dogs :) I don’t think I can handle more than 2 to 3 dogs thanks so much for the info!💕
There's not really a set age, but I'd say generally people will want you to be at least 12. It depends on the dog though really! If it's a very large dog they will likely want someone older, but a smaller dog could be walked by a smaller person :)
Yes, Monday to Friday! And also dog sitting on weekends. The vast majority of people will want a dog walker to come when they are at work (and most people work 9-5 M-F) so that's the biggest time for business in dog walking
The owner will definitely have a leash, but I suggest bringing one of your own just in case. Every once in a while the owner may forget to leave the leash for you, or you won't be able to find it, and it just saves time if you have a spare on you at all times
It can be either! I know people who use it as both. Often times, it will be a side hustle until you can build enough clientele to make it a full-time job
I live in the middle of no where (500 people year round) and i'm shocked at how low your rates are!!! ( even though there are not a ton of people that live in my town year round, I do live in a bit of a tourist beach town) I charge $30 for 30 minutes, and $50 dollars for an hour. But I am cheap compared to other dog walkers in my area. I feel bad that you make so little! Hopefully rates in your area will start to improve or you get better clients in the future.
Harli Armes I definitely think it varies depending on where you live! $50/hour would be unheard of here, and no one would hire bc it would be considered too high, so it just shows the importance of knowing your area. There are a lot of place I know that even $20-$25/hour is too high! But you’re right lol fingers crossed it increases haha
it's recommended to walk larger breeds with fellow larger breeds, and smaller breeds with fellow smaller breeds - But if they are well behaved maybe you can make exceptions. And idk about dog parks, I'm just going to use a local park
Yes, Ryans reply is right. It's good to walk dogs that are similar size BUT the most important aspect is personality. There are some small dogs who prefer to be with the big dogs because their personality matches. So roughly base it on size, but there are other factors. With regards to the dog park, you don't have to drive there if it is close enough to walk from the house.
@@InRuffCompany Thank you. how do you walk the dog or take the dog for a poop in winter time? is there an alternative not to take the dog out on a bad winter
Yes, you can charge however much you feel comfortable with! It is a good idea to charge less if you are younger, because people will understand that you have less experience
At one point I started making $2,000/weekly. Income really varies, it’s not a set salary but I would say $2k-6k/ monthly as holidays can either be busy or non busy depending what clients need during those holiday seasons. But steady weekly income is between $500-$1,500 full time or part time. Hope that helped!
I like you. And also live in Toronto. Congrads on your business, just wondering walking 6 dogs spunds inhumane and alsp illegals in the city. How do you bypass that?
It was no point watching this you didn't say how much you make a day or a week.. We all know the average prices what it cost, I wanted to know how much pets you take care of a day, how much money you make per week..
What difference would it make? She could say she walks 10 dogs a day, but it won't impact how many dogs *you* could walk a day. Just do the math yourself? If you charge $20 per dog for a 1 hour walk, and you take a group of 5 dogs at a time, that's $100 per group. If you do two groups per day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), you're making $200 per day. Do that 5 days a week, and you're making $1000 a week. Do that 50 weeks a year, taking 2 weeks vacation, and you're making $50k a year in revenue, before expenses.
@@indigomoon7848 it makes a difference.. It's not about the math it's about getting enough client.. What if she get only one client a week? That's why she should have shared how many dogs she walks or board in a week in average.. So we can figure if it's worth it or not.. 20 dollar is not all yours you need to give some of it to rover, so she should have shared some estimate how many client she get in average and how much she makes a month with that... The video is pointless if you talk about a job but miss out all the important details.. 😏 Also how do you walk 5 dogs at the same time? They all come from different areas and require you to go there and pick up the dog in different time frames they all in different location.. So she need to be more specific.. I might not get 5 client a day I don't know how busy the site is, we needed details!
4:15 Is when she actually says how much she makes.
Thx
Thanks.

This was in 2018 with inflation I think $25 -$30 for half an hour is reasonable
What if the dogs don’t get along
Is it fine to charge ten bucks for a thirty minute walk since I’m young
Yes, you can charge however much you feel comfortable with! It is a good idea to charge less if you are younger, because people will understand that you have less experience
In Ruff Company thanks for answering I need the exercise anyways :)
So how much do you make in average monthly?
At one point I started making $2,000/weekly. Income really varies, it’s not a set salary but I would say $2k-6k/ monthly as holidays can either be busy or non busy depending what clients need during those holiday seasons. But steady weekly income is between $500-$1,500 full time or part time. Hope that helped!
I have a dog business
Right off the bat talking about tying the dogs to your waste sounds very dangerous.
6 dogs??? Holy cow
so expensive smh brother 🐀🐀🐀😔✨✨🧚🏻♂️🧚🏻♂️🧚🏻♂️
shes charging about 15 us dollars a dog. if you multiply that by about 5 dogs shes making 75 dollars an hour!

@@InRuffCompany LOL... I guess that's why you're a dog sitter and not a plant sitter! - great channel!
Can you do dog walking without any certification or it's like fraud ?🤔😂
I like you. And also live in Toronto. Congrads on your business, just wondering walking 6 dogs spunds inhumane and alsp illegals in the city. How do you bypass that?
If you can only make money picking up dog shit, then you are a sad case indeed.
Stop the acting and emoting on camera. A dog walker is not a bubbly actress...so knock it off.
