    Thank you so much for this. I just picked up a 05 PW50 for my son for his birthday next weekend. Its been sitting for years. Starts but don't run. I got the carb off, and the plug out. However the small jet seems to be stripped :(

    Ok i gotta ask, you say put 2 stroke oil in the tank..first how much, and 2nd i thought the oil reservoir at the handlebars took the oil and properly blended it..am i missing something? Im new to the pw50 world and just picked up a 05 thats been sitting for years

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  2 роки тому

      It is not necessary to put oil in the tank that is only a precaution if the two stroke oil pump does not work which is rare.
      Yes the two stoke oil reserve is at where you mentioned and yes it properly blends. Just make sure you see smoke coming out of the exhaust once you start it :D

    What oil feeds into the carb as I've just bought my son a pw50 and that isn't there, where it connects too the carb its just got a bung on it?

      there should be an oil reservoir behind the front number plate that you fill with injection 2-stroke oil. If not then chances are the previous oil did the delete kit on it and you just mix your fuel on your own before putting it in the tank.

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  3 роки тому

      Yes mix oil in your fuel at a ratio of:
      32:1

      The piston could be froze in the cylinder. If so take head off and put liquid wrench or some type of penetrating oil in the cylinder to free up wait a day or so then lightly tap on cylinder with a piece of wood. Be careful a little at a time be patient eventually it will come free.

      try this link as long as the magneto, cdi box and coil are hooked up and functional bike should fire. keep in mind any kill switches in line with these components that could be off or non functioning.

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  7 років тому

      easiest way to check if the oil pump if functioning is to pull the oil line off the side of the carburetor while the engine is running the more you throttle up the more oil pumps out I have never tested any other way thats why its important to mix some 2 cycle oil with your gas prior to first start. I'm sure there is a way to test the oil pump without engine running just haven't researched it.

    • @miketheboyle
      @miketheboyle 7 років тому +1

      I was stumped by the metal ring on the vacuum hose connected to the nipple on the carb.
      But I did see a way to check the oil is flowing. So think I'm good there,, just need to be careful not to break.... Thanks for the reply!!!
      Other issue I'm looking at is getting the dual throttle cables (fuel and oil) through the brass sleeves on top of the car to replace. They won't pull through the bends...easily anyway. Moto on!

    Great video. I just recently purchased a pw50 for my son and it has an issue going on with the drive shaft. The rear wheel does not spin as freely as yours did when you turned by hand in your video. Any thoughts on the problem? Bad bearings probably or could it possibly be more than that?

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  7 років тому

      Sorry for the late response I personally have not worked on a PW50 driveshaft but I would imagine it would have some type of u-joint set up. These bikes are relatively simple and easy to work on check on line for PW50 drive-line schematics so you can get a better idea of what you could be dealing with. PW50 schematics are usually easy to find and very abundant through a Google search also don't forget get to check under the images category after your Google search a lot of people are known for posting PW50 schematics images.

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  8 років тому +2

      Well this sounds exactly like what the problem was with the bike I go over in the video.
      Establish how long it sat and was not started if bike sat for an extended period of time there is a very good chance the old fuel clogged the 2 jets that are inside the fuel reservoir bowl at the bottom of the carburetor (jets appear as small brass screws with a tiny hole in the the center each one is numbered in size in order to meter fuel properly) these jets need to be cleaned out and all other ports inside carburetor must be cleaned out as well. After doing so clean out and replace any old fuel in the main fuel tank make sure there is TWO STROKE OIL in the oil reservoir and mix a little with the fuel upon initial start up just in case your TWO STROKE OIL PUMP is not working. hope this helps you check entire vid I go over all these things and if you have anymore questions dont hesitate to ask...

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  8 років тому +2

      also dont over look the fuel shut off valve located on the fuel tank those get clogged as well there is a very small filter screen inside this shut off valve make this your first step establish that fuel is actually getting to your carburetor before you get ahead of you project...

    Why does the back tire want to keep spinning while its idling?

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  6 років тому

      Mathew Locklear could be that your idle is to high these bikes have what is called a centrifugal clutch meaning as you throttle up the clutch tightens up hence causing the rear wheel to spin if idle is ok then clutch maybe engaging to soon or at to low of a rpm. Some wheel spin at idle may just be normal as long as it is not causing the bike to move of coarse.

    • @mathewlocklear4643
      @mathewlocklear4643 6 років тому +1

      When i get the idle correct the bike doesn't want to pull, stalls out and cuts off. Thanks

    I got a 97 pw50 2 stroke and I can get it to idle but not have an throttle response. Pretty much all of the parts are new and I've checked everything I can. Any ideas? Here is a link of what it is doing. ua-cam.com/video/iUx-7ip5-1k/v-deo.html
    It has a 60cc big bore kit, new wiring harness, exhaust, carb, spark plug, stator, kill switch, coil, air filter element, fuel filter. It has good compression, it's getting gas, no exhaust restriction (it's off in the video), I've tested the switch and I get good readings when I should and OL on my meter when I should. I'm totally stumped although there can't be anything left to try that I can think of.

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  3 роки тому

      *well first off I believe your fuel filter is on backwards I suggest removing it...secondly is the throttle cable actually attached to the slide inside the carburetor? third check if its
      getting enough air from filter side...fourth is there any exhaust obstructions?
      please consider posting what fixed it for others
      to learn from ty :D*

    • @bbullsj
      @bbullsj 3 роки тому +1

      I have the arrow on the filter pointing towards the carb indicating fuel flow. The throttle cable is moving the piston inside the carb. I have tried running it with and without the air box (no change), the exhaust is off the bike so there can’t be an obstruction in that (it is also brand new)

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  3 роки тому

      @@bbullsj is the needle attached to the slide inside the carb? Also two strokes need the exhaust pipe on hence the expansion chamber that scavenges excess fuel needed for thorough combustion...get a can of either and spray some into the open intake of the carb and see if the the idle goes up...something seems a miss with your carb...air -->fuel -->spark ...base on these 3 principles you are getting air and spark although it seems you are lacking enough fuel to power up the motor...if you have a big bore kit and a stock carb with stock jetting well there is your answer most likely...also make sure the new harness is correct and installed properly which im sure you have...just keep in mind what you changed prior to this problem and reverse engineer what could have caused this by deduction... keep me updated :D

    • @bbullsj
      @bbullsj 3 роки тому

      @@ecran228e Yes, the needle is attached to the slide inside the carb. I will put the exhaust back on and check it again. I sprayed starting fluid into the carb while it was running but got no change. I did it with the throttle not being touched and then fully opened. No change. If I was going to change the jetting, what would I need to get? I have never rejetted a carb before but I know there are different numbers for bigger and smaller diameters. It doesn't seem like any of the connectors on the harness could've gotten mixed up. Could this be a bad CDI controller?

    • @ecran228e
      @ecran228e  3 роки тому

      @@bbullsj if there was no change to idle when spraying either into the intake this seems like either the spark timing is 180 degrees off and/or not advancing or you have absolutely no compression which of coarse you should since its a new top end. this scenario is common when one burns a hole in their piston fyi
