      @rphilipsgeekery4589 that is a risk of early access. It took me between 20 and 30 hrs to 'finish' the game as it is now. I hope they do more because I enjoyed it, but didn't feel compelled to keep playing afterwards.

I don’t have the time to give my Satisfactory save the love it deserves, so it’s nice getting to live vicariously through your vids. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these.

    I would say your main bus should be on the ground with no spaces. You raise everything you dont need to split off, split off what you need with a balancer, then set everything back down with what is split immediately going off to the left or right. This keeps things neat and orderly as well as giving you a better idea of shortages. It would be the same as how you make a main bus in factorio.

    • @Impact_Vector
      @Impact_Vector 3 місяці тому +1

      Just something to think about, but both ramps and splitters are 2 spaces long, so it's impossible to be as compact as in Factorio. And with the 3rd dimension as an option, it's less of a priority to be quite as space efficient. I've tried experimenting with a compact Factorio style bus and it quickly turned into a mess. YMMV
      (As someone with a dozen hours in the game so far, the bus was actually my favorite tip and something I hadn't thought of. Cheers @Dekoba!)

    Important note about using boilers and steam turbines for power generation: Steam turbines do not directly provide power to the foundation they are on. Loaders don't work if the foundation they are on doesn't have power. If your steam turbine power generation setup is on a foundation isolated from the rest of your buildings, you'll need to drop a connected transformer on it to power the loaders feeding igneum to the boilers.

    Good stuff. Maybe the main thing I wish I had known was placement for the screens on machines. So many I had to climb around to get to set up. Easy fix but just an annoyance really. And going vertical. I hope they patch in some easier way to get a top down view on things earlier. By the time I got that first look I had messed up a lot of things. Satisfactory has spoiled me on viewing builds.....lol

    Question about automating biomass. It seems really slow! I did a test run and compared to just cutting trees down and building by hand I decided against automating it.
    How many green houses did you setup? I was thinking a minimum of like 10 was what would be needed. Thoughts?

    • @Dekoba

      I set up 6 but decided not to use the biomass for power and instead stockpile it for explosives. I agree it's very inefficient and probably not worth setting up for progression

    My main bus is line, space, space, line, etc. This lets me split and elevate as needed. Just got the game, so that may change after a few playthroughs.

  • @Rambrus0
    @Rambrus0 3 місяці тому

    I disagree on the 1 to 3 ratio. That is only true at the very early stages. As you deplet your ores, 3 miners wont fill a single belt.
    I very much like the bus idea. I was struggling a little bit with space. The elevation system is a little bit clunky to use as of now.

  • @dwizzle815
    @dwizzle815 3 місяці тому

    Only thing I didn't agree with was the double-spaced bus. When you get 15+ items it's too much space. Easier to just run a belt under (or over) the splitter like you would with an underground belt in Factorio.

      I believe the intake itself needs power so you can just throw some ignium into the boiler to “jump start” it, but also make sure when placing the intake that it’s fully submerged and the green arrow is going into your boiler intake pipe

      In your opinion. In my opinion it is better than Satisfactory.

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  3 місяці тому

      I think it is a fundamentally different game. It feels a lot more like a copy of Factorio or DSP than it does satisfactory, and Ive spent a lot of time thinking about this lol.
      Its obv a 3d factory builder, but the actual construction is grid based instead of freeform,
      and vertical construction isnt unlocked until tier 3 science, which means you are more or less confined to a 2 or 2.5 dimension grid for much of the game. This is my biggest complaint about Foundry - its pitched as a 3d builder but in practice thats a pretty unreasonable and terribly inefficient way to build your factory, at least for the first 10 or so hours of the game.
      The other big difference is how the map is structured - Satisfactory has loads of resource veins all over the place. A core part of the game is either building remote outposts or at least setting up long logistics lines, and the game gives interesting options for that. In foundry, by contrast, you can complete the game as it stands on the first nodes you find and its unwieldy and impractical to go searching for more until the late game. These two things make for a pretty different experience, and as I said, it feels a lot more like the various 2d factory builders that are about.
      Overall I like satisfactory better, but I certainly dont think of it as a satisfactory clone, and I enjoyed it well enough for what it is.
