Quest Headset Won't Pair With Oculus/Meta Quest Mobile App? Try This!! (Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest Pro)

- Recently a friend of mine found his Quest 2 would no longer pair with the app on his phone. He did what anyone nowadays would do and went online to find out what to do to fix it. He tried all the easy stuff first like making sure his phone and headset were connected to the same wi-fi network, making sure the bluetooth on his phone was turned on, he uninstalled and reinstalled the Quest app on his phone, tried using a different phone and when none of that worked he factory reset his headset hoping that would take care of it, but in the end none of that worked. He next contacted Meta support who had him try all this same stuff over again, but did have a few other things for him to try as well. Unfortunately, once again, nothing worked. In the end support told him his headset was 'dead' and since he was out of the warranty period the best they could do was sell him a refurbished Quest 2 for $150. He doesn't use his Quest a bunch and decided he wasn't interested in paying $150 for a replacement, but before completely giving up he called me and asked if I'd run into this problem before? This was my first time hearing of this problem, so I got online and started scouring the internet for answers. Turns out this is a problem that a lot of people have experienced with their Quest headsets. Just like he did, I tried all the stuff Meta suggests, but kept getting the same "unable to connect to your headset" error message. I then decided to take it a step further and factory reset his Quest 2 then sideloaded the latest firmware for the Quest 2 and tried again, but still got the same "unable to connect to your headset" problem. After some more digging I found a workaround that uses an application on the PC called the Meta Quest Developer Hub. With nothing else working up to this point I decided to give it a shot aaaaannnnndddd... IT WORKED!!!
For anyone else experiencing this problem, if you've tried everything else and you'd like to use your Quest headset for more than an expensive paperweight, this just may be the solution you've been waiting for! 😁

Awesome! I'm happy to hear this may be just what you need to get your Quest usable again. I assume you've tried all the other normal troubleshooting steps? i.e. making sure your phone and headset are connected to the same wi-fi network, that your phones bluetooth is turned on, uninstalling and reinstalling the Meta Quest app, trying a different phone or other mobile device, and if none of that works factory resetting your headset? If not, I'd try those things first before going with this. This is a "I've tried everything and nothing is working" solution in my opinion. 😅
Meta told me it was a hardware issue and since my Quest was out of warranty, I could purchase a refurbished one from them ($160). I refused to give them anymore of my money for what I believe is shady and should be illegal practices. Thank you for this video, for these instructions, I can finally get back to playing my Oculus.
Hopefully the meta app gets fixed soon so that we can add our devices back to our phones so we can cast etc!
They said to me it is possibly a hardware issue but I think that’s not correct. If our pc’s / laptops can connect to our headset, then our mobile apps should be able to.

Hey Maraksot why when ever i pair my pro controllers with the quest 3 it always loses tracking is their a fix to this?
How do I add a second account to the meta quest app on iOS so I can cast from my account and not my sister. We use the same quest and she is the admin account so we can cast from her account but not mine

It's been a few months since I last used an AMD GPU for PC VR, but the last time I used one was the 7700XT and overall I feel the encoding is fine on AMD GPU's, that being said when using AirLink I did have to manually set the encode resolution in the Oculus Debug Tool to sharpen the visuals up, as it was defaulting to a fairly low encode resolution which made the visuals look kinda blurry. After turning it up though, things looked just as good at they do with an Nvidia GPU. When using a Link cable or Virtual Desktop with the 7700XT the encode resolution was fine though, it was just AirLink where it was lower. When testing other Radeon cards like the 7900XTX and 7800XT I did have troubles with the encode bitrate as well though and had to set that manually too. I haven't gone back to check them again recently to see if the current drivers and/or Meta's Quest Link software has cleared that stuff up or not though. As for the Nvidia cards I've tested, none of them have had any of these issues. It seems that since Nvidia is the dominant GPU manufacturer, that Meta has made sure to get their software working with Nvidia hardware first and AMD is kind of an after thought.
I've tried everything possible, even pushing updates and making a developer account but my computer won't find the headset. Ive tried 3 other computers on multiple different networks and still nothing

i tried everything but this worked happily, hopefully they fix this. I heard if you go to an older app version then the pairing works, but im not sure if thats true (android only i think)
