    Phosphatidylserine has been one of my go to nootropics for a long time. Even though the evidence is still preliminary, it is extremely promising. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there concerning what it does and how it works, and so in this video we take a deep dive into pretty much everything I know about Phosphatidylserine.

    I remember the first time I took this supplement, instructions said that I should take 200 mg. I took it for a couple of days and it didn’t really do anything for me. After reading some more information on the Internet, I came across some testimonials for a PS product which showed that 600 to approximately 800 mg a day is what is required to reap the benefits of stress control - I was extremely stressed at that point in my life. So I started taking 800 mg a day; 300 mg in the morning, 300 mg just after lunch time and 200 mg before bed. I was absolutely gobsmacked at how amazing this supplement is at helping chronic stress. It also helped clear my skin up, I’m not sure if that has something to do with endotoxin load or some other mechanism, nevertheless it really kept my skin clear.

    Is it safe to take it long term? I tried it years back and was fine but just recently I took a new brand and developed joint and jaw pain. I stopped mid bottle and it subsided.. I resumed taking it and again, my joints started to really hurt. I'm ordering a different brand to try again but am wondering how long can you safely take it? I like that it takes the edge off of my stress and I have, oddly enough, really nice dreams... it's why I want to give this another go. Thanks for any info on it's safety.

    • @Barbarus_Romanus
      @Barbarus_Romanus 2 роки тому +3

      @@Super-lucky-7777
      My morning coffee is my late morning coffee. Have it around 1⅓ hours after waking up.
      The first Week of experimentation with PS I took the recommended dose of 300mg.
      This put me in a (nearly?) manic like phase.
      I just felt really, really great, had really a lot of energy, was very productive and very motivated, but slept just around 4-6hours per night.
      I felt really great and was doing great in all aspects, but doubted, that this less of sleep could be healthy.
      So I reduced my daily dose to 100mg, which I took nearly every day since then.
      Even this dose is enough to elevate my mood to a noticeable degree.
      But to be honest, I think I can get this too with a solid sleep-schedule and a few other non-supplement adjustments of life.
      So next month I let the PS beside and I will rank my sleep scedule a little higher in priority.
      Maybe keep the PS as a substitute for alcohol at partys.
      Tried it the last weeks as a alcohol-substitute at partys - for this I took another 100mg to my daily dose - , it makes me more energetic and less anxious in social situations, but I'm more focused and motivated than with alcohol and have no hangover with PS.

    When I took this I became so shaky and had to stop.. Could that be related to the increase in energy for people who tend to have low blood glucose levels? Or might it have been coincidence since I ended up developing a mild cold shortly after?

    Could you (or anyone else) explain how exactly there can be a difference between the bovine and soy extract? Various sources claim that they are different, but how exactly? If the supplements are a pure, monomolecular extract, and it's the same molecule, then how can it make a difference where it came from? If the two actually differ in their effects, wouldn't that sugges that either one or the other extraact was contaminated with impurities?

    • @johnhurd3257
      @johnhurd3257 2 роки тому

      I think he was saying the only difference is the possibility of mad cow disease contaminating the product IMO. Plant based supplements don't have this potential for danger.:)

    Any advice on which nootropic stack to utilize that is best for someone about to start a fast-paced high stress job with a massive amount of information to learn? I currently take 1g lions mane and 5g maca in the morning with coffee and Ashwagandha KSM-66 300mg at night. I'm a healthy 30yr old male. Love the content. Thanks.

    • @NutritionLibrary
      @NutritionLibrary  3 роки тому +2

      For stress and learning it is hard to beat Ashwagandha and Phosphatidylserine. They are fantastic. Lions mane is only good if you get OriVeda brand, it’s expensive but great.
      I would drop the maca unless you just love it.
      And if you aren’t taking a multi and fish oil and magnesium for general health. I would also consider those.

    ATPases do not produce ATP. Their name implies that they breakdown ATP in order to release energy that can be utilized for some other function in the cell. In contrast, ATP synthetases produce ATP. That's all :)

    • @NutritionLibrary
      @NutritionLibrary  3 роки тому +2

      Yes. That’s what I meant to say 😅 But technically I think it’s a reversible reaction whereby ATPace both catalyzes the formation and breakdown of ATP. I could be wrong though. It’s been a few years since I took biochem.
