As a curly girl who has been cutting her own hair for 10+ years now, I can tell you that you are absolutely 100% correct in saying that you shouldn’t pull on the hairs as you cut them. Also, always always always cut LESS than you think you should! Oh right. I don’t have Tik Tok thanks for explaining where it has come from. I have naturally curly hair but when I get it cut my hair dresser always straightens it. I think just because you don’t know about one type of hair - in this case - but it applies everywhere- that you are not a professional- it’s just you haven’t had that experience
People on Tiktok are saying he’s a phony even though he’s been doing hair for ten years. Theyre also trying to cancel him for his content related to curly hair, the whole cancel culture thing is ridiculous imo
As a curly hair girl, the only time you can put tension on the curls is if youre cutting them SOAKING wet so there's little to no texture going on. But even then you have to be SUPER aware and careful of how everything will lay once its dried. I've gone to the same hairdresser for over a decade bc I buzzed my hair the first time I saw her, and have since grown it out to shoulder/chest length and back and forth. She knows exactly how my hair will lay/look in every stage of growth. I only trust her to cut my curls at this point and the day she retires is the day I die.
Brads video gives me life at my worst times. I work at a salon, I have clients and stylists talk so much about him (postive). He is so inspiring for all audiences
I love that! My friend is a hairdresser, has been for over a decade, and loves his videos too. I swear some people have severe tall poppy syndrome sometimes when it comes to others in their profession. It's ok to all exist in the same space and have different approaches!

You liked the first one, really? I thought she looked Neanderthal but she has great hair. Totally agree with you on #2. #3 is a total loss 🤣 poor thing!
It’s so scary going to a salon with curly hair because so often hairdressers will cut your hair badly instead of just saying they don’t know how to cut curly hair - I would rather fuck up my own hair than pay 100$ for a bad haircut
So true! That's me right now. The last stylist I went to, totally messed up my hair, and cut it 2 different ways, so on the right, it was a completely different cut than on the left....but I didn't notice it until I got home, and curly hair can hide a bad cut sometimes. I cut my own hair in the style I want, and fixed her mistake, saving money too...and it actually looks good now~ more even~ never going back to a salon 😅
This is why I am loyal till the end to the stylists I go to. There is a duo I love who specialize in curly hair, and both have curly hair. I've suffered so many bad cuts. Never again.
Exactly 😭 the last time I got a haircut at a salon was like almost 2 yrs ago and I went for a curly wolf cut.... she gave me a Bob and straightened my hair when I asked FOR NO SUCH THING 💀 def speak up when you're not being taken care of properly at the salon!!! It will save a lot of heartache afterwards
@@emilystraight4423 yes!!!! I’m so sorry that happened to you!! Before doing bangs for myself some days ago I went to 3 hairstylist with a picture of how I wanted my bangs and neither of them did what I wanted. I knew the model of what I expected because almost all my life I had bangs. My hairstylists did it super long or they did it with so little hair. So I decided to do it myself with a tutorial of yours because I remembered that I watched something about products of hair that I liked. It's not so much a confidence thing with me as it is about effort. To keep care and wear curly hair takes so much product, work, time, etc. It's exhausting and easier to just straighten it and let it be at least for me

Second one was the best in my opinion but the first one wasn't all bad. It was kinda cute, more juvenile looking, but not terrible.
“It always grows back” yeah but if you have curly hair you know curls, specially twirly, coily curls take twice the time to show any growth because of shrinkage, that style will stay with you for a while, because of that please if you can save up a few coins go to a professional stylist.

He’ll never do it because he thinks he is a curly hair pro. I was annoyed when he said “I don’t know everything about curly hair.” That comes off as defensive to me rather than open to learning more. No one knows everything, but Brad seems to know very little and still comments on curly hair.

I think the second video of the lady that is cutting her bangs turned out surprisingly well and there is absolutely no way that I would cut my curly hair for myself. Because I just don't think I'd be that lucky. I'm trusting the pros to cut my hair. I love how you keep educating us on how we can take care of our hair.
I feel like we all had a phase where we attempted to cut our own bangs/fringe but when we were 12ish? And spent months wearing head bands and clippers 😂
I grew up next door to a hairstylist, Steve. He taught me how to properly care for my curly hair between trims. As I got older and he was nearing retirement age he taught me how to trim my own hair. He also taught me how to braid it if I wanted to. I got lucky. Too bad too many other girls didn’t.
GOD the second girls hair was sooo gorgeous absolutely beautiful she shoulda left it ALONE! Take it back they actually came out cute but still liked it better before.
2 lessons I've learned from cutting my curly bangs. 😭 1. Do not cut it when wet because shrinkage happens. 2. Don't pull down the hair strands, because, of shrinkage. Unless you want micro-bangs, don't do the above mistakes I've made 😂
As someone with curly hair I consider myself very lucky to have had a great hairstylist. She knows how curly hair responds so she cuts my hair dry and then washes it to refine it. 😄😊 Actually I think finding someone who has curly hair themselves to be your stylist is a good idea too as they know how it works. 😄

I recently cut my bangs too short. I decided to just style them to the side. My hair just curls up and to the side, and it actually looks like I styled it with a curling iron. Curly hair can hide many mistakes, especially if you have high density. I also think layers compliment bangs. I used to be afraid of layers, but I love the effect they create! Layers and bangs look super cute!!
Curly girl here. When I straighten my hair, before I get to the other side, there is a 4 inch difference between the still curly & the straightened side. That's how much my hair shrinks. So, you can't pull on a curl and cut it without it boinging up shorter than you expected. My coworkers used to tease me about being the only person they knew who could get their haircut and come out of the salon with longer (looking) hair (curly vs. straightened).
OMG, I have natural curls and watching these girls pulling their curls straight before cutting them gave me SO much anxiety!! I was literally yelling at my phone. LOL Let the curl hang loose and cut, that way it doesn't end up 2 inches too short!
Hiya brad, my mom cut my hair yesterday and since my hair is so thick I can barely put it up in a ponytailI cut so much hair the cut hair was as long as my moms hand! It was very fun though, and I love it, I used your advice and told her everything that you say and it turned out AMAZING!

I have the worst time finding the right stylist. Most of the time I get stylists who give me things like extra long, face-framing, disconnected front pieces when I asked for a trim on my blunt bob and emphasised the front being blunt. And sometimes it's not even remotely close at all to what I asked for, but feels more like something they wanted to do instead. I've worked in a salon before (in admin) and picked up enough to know what to ask for, so I'm not going in there like "I want three layers" or anything. So I just don't get it 😔 The most recent time I saw a professional stylist I got a balayage that was done so badly that after giving them two more chances to fix it I've decided to just deal with it myself (I super hate making a fuss, but it wasn't really blended at all on one side, it was a straight line, and they then "fixed" it by just putting blocky chunks of a darker red toner over the unblended area. They fully covered my natural colour with that red, which I had deeply wanted to keep as the base after growing it out for so long, and the "blend" just looked like pixels). I'm low key starting to feel a bit hurt when I see people go in to their stylist and get amazing hair that fits exactly who they are and what they're going for. I hope that will be me one day 🥲
@@punchdrunkassassin oh my, I am so sorry for your balayage 😭 yeah, I totally agree, I believe they do what they want, and not what we requested. As a person with curls that cuts my own bangs often the two big no-nos when cutting them is 1)pulling them down AT ALL. (2)wetting them. Just trim them completely dry, and DO cut them lower than you want them to be- how much lower depends on how tight your curls are. For mine I normally do 1/2" and they come out great. Basically cut curls like you are trimming a topiary

As someone who is studying hairdressing, he's definitely a hairstylist
I love a thick bang, I was very nervous for the second girl because I thought she went easy too far back with her section but she pulls off the thick bang so well she's literally slaying
I agree with Brad!! As someone with curls, cutting my hair while applying any tension is always a no go for my hair type.
How isn’t this a obvious thing to avoid? But I guess even some hairdressers don’t understand this 😂
@@MsElectricsurge no cuz it’s one of the most obvious things about curly hair. like, have these people never seen curly hair (natural or created with heat) or even thought about hair in general??
Actually tension could help in making the ends much cleaner than not adding tension but to each their own
@@alexmun7391 yeah I know from experience. I definitely had some emotional breakdowns after hairdressers cut my hair wet and either tension.
@@sammyes415 lol no, if you pull my hair, it will double in length. No shot making a straight edge while pulling. Maybe you can clean up the cut after it’s cut dry and without tension. Also you wouldn’t be able to see were to cut because you can’t see the pattern of the curl under tension. You wouldn’t want to cut the curl in half so to speak. Plus you won’t know how much you are cutting including the shrinkage. It will pop back up and you will have a nice surprise.
Honestly the first girl just needs to wait like a week or two for her hair to grow to the perfect length. Her bangs look really cute I think
I actually yelled “STOP IT” reflexively at the girl in tie dye. Put down the kitchen scissors baby
When she keep saying it just keep getting worse I said I’m angry nervous voice then stop cutting 😂
😂
I literally was unintentionally yelling "girl what are you DOING" at my phone. I don't think any other video has elicited such an automatic response from me
Sub tittle said she was cutting her veins and I was like this turned into a very different video
Who doesn’t think Brad is a professional hairdresser? Of course he is. And his colour is the best formula I’ve used x
A lot of people, especially on TikTok, are saying that he isn't a professional, because he once reacted on a video of a girl with curly hair and was wrong about some things he said. It's like the classic example of cancel culture. xD

I love that you keep giving tips to your viewers even tho some of them clearly don't listen Thank you Brad we love you!
For anyone that fucked up their curly bangs. Eco gel. Slick back. Forget about it. You'll grow to love it. Unlike your bangs
lmao I just have been wearing headbands forever lol
I knowww for months I did a side part slick ponytail until my bangs grew out and they didn’t look like edges
Omg this is currently me 😭
Is straightening it an option, definitely will make it longer...
I’ve cut my hair for 16+ years. I did the wolf cut on my naturally curly hair. I followed brads tutorial and it’s the best cut of my life!
I kept saying “just stop” to that third girl. Yikes! That was painful to watch!
I had to pause several times during her segment, just to decompress 😂
The 2nd girl is absolutely blindingly GORGEOUS.
Brads video gives me life at my worst times. I work at a salon, I have clients and stylists talk so much about him (postive). He is so inspiring for all audiences

ANYONE with CURLY hair. Manes by Mel is an amazing curly hair educator and professional stylist. She recently uploaded a video in detail about how to cut curly bangs. Along with several other videos on topics such as “How do you know if you have too much protein or moisture in your hair”, and “How to diffuse hair” She has playlists in her channel, where you can find these videos as well. God Bless.✨
Here here! Manes By Mell knows her stuff!
She is THE BEST and in the last year he advice has completely transformed my curls.
Yet brad came after them for no reason
Yup I'm here after watching her video reacting to this video
The second woman, her eyes are really beautiful and would pop with a super short or shaved head. The first one, nothing could make her look bad.
Amén! I will not go to anywhere that does not specialise in curly hair and even then I vet them out about dry cuts and such.
There’s hope!!!
I cried watching the last girl... I just couldn't, I'm so sorry but that felt like a fever dream 🙈🤣😂(pretty haircolour though and love the energy)
I loved the 2nd girls hair the best. Her hair is gorgeous! As well as the first girls hair. Hers is very pretty too.
This is exactly why I won’t cut bangs into my curly hair…again 😭😭
I use these videos as a constant reminder not to mess with my hair at home.... again!
...again? 🤔
Lmao same! Tried that once 10 years ago… never again 😅
And I don’t know how to really cut my hair but it turned out perfect with your help. (Also, my hair is wavy and it’s not that complex as curly hair)
Thanks, Love you Brad ❤️
You have the talent✨🫶🏻
Just an update, Brad... I bought a ton of your hair products and no product has EVER impressed me this much. Kudos to you and thank you.

is it just me who thinks the first girls hair looks really good? i feel like the curly bang really suits her
I thought it looked cute.
Yeah, me too! I really like how it looked and I thought it framed her face quite nicely. The middle pieces were a bit short but once they grow it’ll look better.
once it grows it'll look way better. the second girls hair looked amazing on her tho
Imo the first girl should always have bangs (cut the right length though) because her forehead is soooo short.
i cant believe she put tension on her hair as she cut it. i feel like that's common sense to let the curl fall naturally. i dont even have curly hair i knew this.
The third girl would look BANGIN’ with a Wolf cut!

Idk what it is but curly bangs when done right just look so amazing 🥰 curly hair is so gorgeous and i think people should be more confident in it, its really pretty and my respect goes to the people who have it, so pretty!!

It's not so much a confidence thing with me as it is about effort. To keep care and wear curly hair takes so much product, work, time, etc. It's exhausting and easier to just straighten it and let it be at least for me
@@psychedelic.dreamer yes i see what you mean, my point was that some people feel self conscious about it even when its washed and done, i’ve known people who got bullied for having braids or leaving their hair natural im just really bad at saying what im meaning to say when im writing 😅

As a curly girl I actually really liked how 1 & 2 turned out. Getting bangs right with curls is super difficult in general and not everyone can pull it off. 3rd girl....just no to those bangs.
That’s why I’m so scared to get a hair cut because it’ll take FOREVER to grow out 😭
This right here. Amen.

since brad isn’t a curly hair professional i think it would be really cool to see him reach out to some black curly hair specialists to do a video. It’s also not a bad idea to go back to school and learn how to specialize in curly hair as well or at least get a little more knowledge!
He’ll never do it because he thinks he is a curly hair pro. I was annoyed when he said “I don’t know everything about curly hair.” That comes off as defensive to me rather than open to learning more. No one knows everything, but Brad seems to know very little and still comments on curly hair.
@@lolofunslayer4953 yeah I was surprised once when he didn’t even know about pulling the hair straight and then holding the hair dryer on it. He said not to.

Why only "black'? They don't have the monopoly on wavy/curly hair. It's like a hair cult in the comments and it's what drove me out of the curly community.
The second girl's curls are so goooorg!

No disclaimer needed, Brad. You are absolutely correct about not pulling the curls down and every curly girl should know that.
I would love to see men/boys cutting their own hair fails !! :D
When i cut my natural curly hair i put tension on it then accommodate by not cutting as much- its always worked…. Except for that time i had long hair and shaved my bangs…..

BRAD YOU'RE 100% RIGHT!!! Don't put tension on your hair when trimming or cutting curly bangs!!! The shorter the hair the more shrinkage you'll get.

SAME HERE, 40 and my hair has never had a good day lol
Yes, I have 27 and never had a good hair cut. I always go out frustrated from the hair salon 🤣
@@debybel I know right lol. I've always asked for a certain cut and not once have I got what I asked for lol.
So I just don't get it 😔
The most recent time I saw a professional stylist I got a balayage that was done so badly that after giving them two more chances to fix it I've decided to just deal with it myself (I super hate making a fuss, but it wasn't really blended at all on one side, it was a straight line, and they then "fixed" it by just putting blocky chunks of a darker red toner over the unblended area.
I hope that will be me one day 🥲
@@punchdrunkassassin oh my, I am so sorry for your balayage 😭

As a person with curls that cuts my own bangs often the two big no-nos when cutting them is 1)pulling them down AT ALL. (2)wetting them.
Just trim them completely dry, and DO cut them lower than you want them to be- how much lower depends on how tight your curls are. For mine I normally do 1/2" and they come out great.
Basically cut curls like you are trimming a topiary
I actually love the way the first woman looks when she's done!! I'm envious.
