    I had waist length hair back in the 70s and my hair stylist Garland insisted I get what he called a long shag cut. He cut so many layers into my hair, it gave me volume I'd never had before and it didn't make my hair much shorter. It looked really awesome after I put 2 boxes of hot curlers in it. I think what Garland gave me way back then was basically a wolf cut.

    When Brad mentions to cut your hair curly when wet so it's easier to get a more even cut and it's detangled, just keep in mind about the shrinkage that inevitably happens with curly hair, especially if it's very coily :)

      He is WRONG on so many levels. If you have curly/wavy hair you cut it DRY or else it’s going to be uneven when it dries!! That’s why you go to a hairstylist who actually understands and specializes in curly/wavy hair. That’s why I only watch him with a grain of salt because he knows NOTHING about curly hair. He even went against Manes by Mel and said she is wrong. Someone who SPECIALIZES in understanding curly hair, is a curly hair hairstylist and gives scientific evidence when she gives advice on curly hair. I enjoy Brad but NO girl who has wavy/curly hair should listen and take his advice because he doesn’t SPECIALIZE in curly/wavy hair.

    • @katya3805
      @katya3805 2 роки тому +12

      I guess it depends on how curly it is. I have loose curls and it looks pretty when my stylist cuts it when wet.

    • @inkasaraswati7625
      @inkasaraswati7625 2 роки тому +26

      @@sarahprince2412 I'd say it depends. I understand the benefits of cutting your curly hair dry, but I think it requires a skillset that is much different than cutting straight hair. Honestly Brad probably does it wet because he does not have the experience to cut it dry, but I wouldn't say it's wrong if it gives good results (and he should know better than disrespecting a specialist in her field). I actually cut my curly hair myself for several years now and I always do it wet because its easier and my hair is too easily tangled otherwise, and also my hair does not shrink much (and I have limited skills but I've never been unhappy with the results. Also I can always adjust if there are wonky pieces after drying). But definitely go to an experienced curly hairdresser if you can, a major reason why I started cutting my hair myself is because there wasn't one near me.

I was hoping mine would turn out that way but my curls wouldn't form right so it just looked like some weird hat hair crap if I didn't spend a bunch of time styling. The “wolf cut” is just a straight hair derivation of the unicorn methods of adding layers to your hair used by curly-haired home hairdressers for decades. It’s a two-step round cut without the curls.

    I did this on my own curls a couple months ago - it made my hair more live-able for me for the time, but I have a professional hair cut in a couple weeks and I’m gonna get it more drastically done so we shall see how that goes. My face looks best with big volume around it and less at the bottom, and the weight of my hair pulls down literally any other haircut I get with longer hair. Hopefully it works as well as I want it to, or I’ll have a weird growing out period 😭😂

    The thing about the second hairtie, as immediately said by Brad without realising, is to not overdirect the hair again. Pull the hair up, put the second hairtie in, then let it down and cut (using the hairtie as a guide). Instead of just pulling it forward/down and then cutting, where you'd end up with very steep & uneven layers.

    When that 1st girl was struggling with the straggly ends. That was me not long ago. They got on my nerves so much I ended up cutting them off. I ended with curly bangs. Told my hairdresser “don’t be mad I took scissors to my hair, but they had to go”. It’s crazy how some dead ends make curly hair look. It just fucks up the whole look. So glad she cut that dead hair off, she looked great

    My hair isn’t as curly as these girls, but I do three sections, whole head, then from behind my ear lobes to my crown, then from the front of my ears, and finally I do my curtain bangs like you showed. I’ve been doing this for years and LOVE my layers and I’ve never felt like my layers don’t blend! Even if I don’t I don’t care! I got so sick of paying $200+ for someone to fuck my hair up when I can do it for free!

    My curls are right in between the 1st you lady and the 2nd. Did the wolf cut (with mom's help), used sheers, cut about 1.5 inches off the bottom, and thinned it out. Love it....especially when it's perfect for that 40s 50s style as its easier to pin curl

  • @sherrypie2372
    @sherrypie2372 2 роки тому +9

    The tension is also pretty tight as well. There’s a reason you hold with light tension with curly cuts because that hair will bounce up especially when dry and without that extra weight. I’d recommend a non hair tie method for curly hair unless you are very careful with how much you cut.

    I think the main reason for the second hair tie is to make sure that the entirety of the ends are collected and included into the cut. I imagine that vision is distorted while you’re semi-upside down and focusing on something so close to your face. I feel like it would be easy to accidentally miss some pieces, or have them drop out of your hand while trying to focus on everything else. It’s ok, Brad. We got you. 😘 Absolutely LOVE you and your videos!!
