Excellent teaching video. My only safety comment is in regards to long sleeves. I think most would agree long sleeves and moving blades are a potential issue if moving blade were to catch the sleeve and pull your hand or finger towards the blade. Same with miter saws, table saws etc.

Bandsaws are relatively safe to use. Definitely safer than a machine with a circular blade. Of course everything is a little more dangerous when it comes to kids and saws but it just requires teaching proper technique and set up. BTW, don't be afraid blades will break for no reason and "get you." They don't. I've used 14" but mostly larger 36" bandsaws for decades and know they're not accident proof but for the most part safe and easy to use. And never trust a shop teacher with missing fingers.
I had a band saw blade break and it shot up past my throat and face. It almost made it to the ceiling which was 20 feet. My teacher had brazed the blade together after it had broke. You never know where that blade is going when it breaks. It can be a very safe machine to use if you respect it or a very dangerous device. You should also never reach across the blade area to turn it off. Be safe out there.
Why would anyone be wearing a wedding ring when they are teaching about bandsaw safety? One of the most common ways people get hurt with a bandsaw is having the blade catch on a ring and there goes their finger. I say this not to be mean or anything like that but NOBODY should be wearing any rings on their fingers when using a bandsaw...too many people are missing fingers because they were wearing rings and got too close to the blade.
Hi I was showing my brother how to use the band saw because he is going in a tech class and I have been in a tech class for two years. Now I know you have more experience than me and you look like really comfortable with the this machine but I am pretty sure that when you use are cutting that small of a piece you would use a push stick instead of going around to the back and pulling it. Even if you are that comfortable with a machine you should always think safety first because this video is seen by people who are trying to learn the use of machines correctly . Soooo yeah

I use freemake video downloader and freemake video converter. It's free they do ask for a donation after it's installed.
