I was fortunate enough to have my father in life to show me the dangers and benefits of heavy equipment, he was a career Ironworker and heavy equipment operator, he passed away from cancer almost 3 years ago I miss him RIP Pop
okay so this is a tutorial on absolutely everything you SHOULDN'T do in a major trauma situation like this. if someone is impaled, leave the object in them to avoid this exact situation. if you happen upon someone who seems hurt, the first thing you should always do is CALL FOR HELP. even trained professionals in an operating room can't manage a major trauma patient by themselves. you need to make sure help is on the way before you starting touching stuff and moving things (or people) around
1st Severide should have a cell phone on him everytime to get some help 2nd Never ever remove an object from a wound 3rd Put a tourniquet on this damn arm Bullshit here
Removing that object was the worst thing he could have done in that situation. He put the boy's life more in danger. Usually the paramedics in this situation cut a part of the object to allow the patient to be transported to the hospital and then the surgeons proceed to remove it. The right thing to do here was to call for help. I know it's just a TV series, but people often take inspiration from them in real life
Kelly Severide couldn't leave a boy alone bleeding to death while he was jogging. Good thing that Shay came and helped Severide get the boy to the hospital and then later on help Severide from losing his job as a firefighter because he missed a shift.
So, just a tip to anyone watching this: If someone has an impalement injury, only remove it if there is an immediate danger present to the patient, i.e. vehicle is on fire, patient is underwater, patient is in cardiac arrest and the location of the object impedes resuscitation, etc. Other than that, always call for help first and try to keep the object in place and even secure the object if possible. It actually is putting pressure on blood vessels and slowing bleeding so removing it would just make it worse.
My son loved those type of trucks 🚚 growing up especially dump trucks before my father passed he use to take my son out in all the different type of trucks before he died in 2003 my Sony was only 4 but he new how to work the levers on a dump truck and bobcat before he passed on RIP ❤
I would stopped ,looked, thought “someone doesn’t know how to drive that thing” then walked away I would not have gotten a closer look. I would just stopped to look for a sec then moved along. Also why didn’t he have a cell phone who just goes on a run and leaves there phone at home?
My father was one of those, who would teach me how to do something, that he knew how to do, then would turn right around, and take it away from me, afraid I would take it away from him. The vehicle I ever learned to drive, was a 1952 Chevy 2 1/2 ton farm truck. I started getting good at it, getting confident, handling it better than he did, and then, the next day on was never allowed to drive it again. Was never allowed to drive any of the other vehicles, either. Because, I might take them away from him. It was all about his ego.
Wasn't it the boy's fault that his life was in danger since he was driving a tractor when he was still too young and later got into trouble with his mother for getting himself in danger?
@@retzerclan4345 It was like they needed to be like 'look how strong he is to bend that metal to save the kid' instead of just having to life him off a straight rebar.
Yeah and if he's a fireman how do they know that they can make a tourniquet out of his clothes there's many things that they had on them that they could have used
This is why NEVER let child to drive a car, truck and tractor or fly on plane and helicopter because it's too dangerous for children and can cause deaths from vehicle accidents

How does a firefighter go "let's pull this out" before help is there? The first rule is don't pull it out.
My exact thought!!!
1000% my thoughts!!
Because this isn't Emergency! & Michael Bay-quality action scenes appeal to audiences more than realism now.
I think he pulled it out because he thought he could get him out instantly... but you so have a point. He should have made sure first.
Well it was a kid, so that was the last thing on his mind

I get that it's a tv show but the patient was stable enough before he removed the rebar. THAT'S when he shoulda called for help.
you either get that it’s a tv show or you nitpick. willingly suspend your disbelief or don’t. pick one

I think it was because it got him arm stuck. But still, call for help first before removing something like that.

NEVER PULL OUT A OBJECT IMPALLED IN A PERSON
NEVER THEY WILL BLEED OUT
Yeah, I was shocked a firefighter didn't know this.
Yup it was dumb but still need to get him out somehow but as someone who work whit machines never let a kid use them
Figures a firefighter would happen to be running by when something like that occurred. That’s tv logic for you
Resa l am so vste
That spot in the arm was TOTALLY fine to just SIT there until ems arrived like, dude tried to kill the kid lmaooo
Oh poor boy 🥺
I am man, I feel sorry for the boy. Take care of your children.

who goes jogging without a mobile phone????
someone who needs a break from the phone

Me but I have a pittie that goes running with me too so I feel safe enough to do it and I go jogging on my 500 acre ranch so that's a plus

What's the name of this full movie?
And thank you.
Very much.
It’s a tv show called Chicago fire
Question... how did the metal bar go through his arm THEN bend over?
Probably “tv magic” but also it could have already been curved and he got hooked on it like a fishhook
I was wondering the same thing
@@rominalasagna4980 See the physics wouldn't make sense for the fishhook... specially not for it going that deep
@@retzerclan4345 It was like they needed to be like 'look how strong he is to bend that metal to save the kid' instead of just having to life him off a straight rebar.
