- While out on a jog, Severide (Taylor Kinney) comes across a secluded and empty construction site and encounters a young boy who has been trapped in a backhoe loader and is in dire need of assistance.

literally one of the first things youre taught in any sort of first aid/ambulance/doctor training is that if someones impaled, you dont pull the object out lol?

@@yusuff6680 nope to keep the blood in. But he didn’t realise it had impaled a artery so he pulled it out to try get the kid free
@@leegrundy2240 youre not supposed to take it out at all. period. the whole point is because we dont have X-ray eyes - we cant see if it has or hasn't hit something. someones more likely to die from it being taken out than it being kept in.

Why the hell did Severide remove the rebar from his arm? It was one of the absolute worst decisions he could have made
i think he thought he has to move him from thre it was a remote place and the exacavator could light up, he was unaware that the artery was cut, if it was just a vain he could easily move him. It was not wise decision but in that kind of circumstances understendable
@@franekkimono3626 If it was just a vein? Yeah still serious bleeding. Never, EVER, remove an impaled object, unless you have a full surgical trauma team to deal with the bleeding in a controlled environment. Unlikely the backhoe would light up either, just rolled over.
@@loganjones5461 Yeah, well, the kid could've still died. He didn't have a phone or bars at least. He needed to move him, that's why he did it, sucks he ended up stuck there himself all night
@@lifeisbitvlover171 How does one come to the conclusion that freeing an arm after failing to free the victims leg would result in success? The Rebar was stopping the bleeding. Basic level emergency first aid says "DO NOT TAKE THE THING OUT."
Main point being Prioritization of injuries/Triage is important...

Sometime we chose wrong choice, but if we still to do it, i belive we still can survive... :')

+chiccachannel if I’m going out jogging I wouldn’t take my phone cuz either
a.) my phone would just bounce around in my pocket so much it could fall out and break.
b.) if you’re outside and out of wifi range you can’t listen to music so there’s no real reason to bring it.
You can listen to music with no WiFi, I do that with a really old tablet I have that doesn't even connect to WiFi anymore. You just download songs or rip them from a CD. (Which is what I did cos I'm not paying jack for music I already own.)

Okay, I'll pretend his arm was so pinned down that putting any kind of tourniquet on it before pulling the metal out was impossible... otherwise COME ON.

Yeah still wouldn't pull it out. The irst thing to do in this situation is call for help. Firefighters would use tools to cut the forgien body and leave it for the surgeons to take care of. Under no circumstances do you start pulling deeply embedded forgien bodies out of casualties on site unless you're trying to cause a bleed and tissue damage

According to the Chicago Fire wiki, the boy “wanted to show his absent, construction worker father that he didn't need him to teach him anything.” Also, it’s called a backhoe-loader, not a tractor.
He risk his life for example if a kod gets caught ib afire he goes and help him with out a second thought

@@laraetches OK, but was the Chicago firefighter just casually running so far out that he was nowhere near anyone else, or his car, or a public transit/service stop? Even a nature trail, unless you are in national park territory, will have people within 10 to 15 minutes run away. Check the kid, then RUN for help, screaming for aid along the way to bring people running to you also - much less dangerous than pulling the impaling object out.
Fun fact: a male's scream can carry much farther than a females, due to vocal chord arrangement, and is much more alarming/alerting to the listener (vocal depth is more intense, and it's less "expected" than a female's scream). People, who carry phones, would come running.
He left his phone in his car whilst he was running. Leaving a kid with rebar through his arm alone would be irresponsible, I assume

@@gilliantohver3225 Usually, yes, but when the options are either do the textbook way and let a kid die in your hands or take a risk and potentially get him out quicker to be treated, he probably made the better choice
