- Everything you need to know to change the oil on your GR86/BRZ yourself and install an optional FUMOTO valve for convenient oil changes in the future. Don't forget to recycle your used oil at a local auto parts store!
I used 0W-20 oil here however, the manual states that "5W-30 conventional oil maybe used if you need to add oil. However, you should change to 0W-20 synthetic oil at the next oil change." Some owners speculate that the 0W-20 recommendation is primarily for fuel economy maximization and not optimized for the best protection and are using 5W-20 or 5W-30 regularly especially when tracking the car or very hot climates. This MAY or may not void your warranty depending on your dealer and their interpretation of the manual. Check with your dealer for a concrete answer. Keep records and clear receipts of all your maintenance to show in the event of a warranty claim.
Enjoyed the video, good job. I've been thinking a long time whether to get gr86 because of the toyota warranties and engine issues. Although I do not track my car, that's a concern for real.
Not sure if I use should go into gt86/gr86 or just get plain dc2 fwd XD
is the clutch and gas in to let car crank a subaru thing?
Should work on the Toyota GR86 as well.
Do you trust that drain plug ? Even for aggressive driving? Was thinking of getting one
Yes. Had one for years and years on a 2006 WRX. Never an issue. And that one didn't even have the little plastic locking protector piece. It's designed to make it impossible to just "open on it's own". No amount of shaking or bouncing or going off of a cliff will open it unless something physically unlatches the lever and moves it which won't happen because it's behind a skid plate and it has a locking piece on it. I always check the oil level a bunch for the first few days after installing out of the same paranoia but it's always good.
Thank you! Will be picking one up soon then🤌🏻
