Found the video to be very informative and useful in my selection of the correct ammunition. Enjoyed the look and the efficiency of the snake slayer, was a very well-made looking weapon. Looking forward to any additional new instructional videos in the future. Thanks, mrstraightshot!
@zombieturtle01 why not??? at close range where most situations occur , the 410 federal, or PDX will be more than enough. I carry a snake slayer 4 with both 410 000 buck, and gold dot 250 grain 45 hollow points. even if the 45 does not expand due to the short barrel, a 45 cal bullet still makes a very big hole. at night when the bad guys come out, and you cannot see the sights, the buck shot will compensate for shaky hands. the snake slayer is a good choice for CCW.
When you opened up your Derringer, you flipped the barrel backwards. I don’t do that to my Snake Slayer IV. I pull the barrel back with my other hand. I cannot stand to see someone flip the barrel backwards.
Perfect for my tacklebox. Them cotton Picken cottonmouths are taken over my bait fishing hole. Thanks for posting I'm going to go get one this weekend.
as much as I like Hickok45 reviews I think this vid is more informative with ref to explaining the functions of the little pistol - I, by the way, own a SS and have the additional .357mag/.38spec barrel - a good video here.....
I have a 410/.45 and .357 Bond. I prefer the .410 in BS, high shot, or even slug. I appreciated learning from you the little hammer indicator. For as long as Ive owned this gun, I never knew that. Thanks.
I own a snake slayer with a 3 inch barrel, and I enjoy shooting it. It does actually feel like your holding a chunk of metal; its high quality! The only thing it the small handle(which you can buy a larger one if you wanted).
Excellent video. These guns are built like a tank. I have the .45 Colt/.410 but live in an area with no snakes so I am getting the .44 SPL barrel & will use that. Gun is solid and well built and looks nearly indestructable. Bottom barrel shoots point of aim at 10'. Top barrel shoots high. You need to practice disengaging that safety too or all you will hear is a loud click and not a bang!
Just wanted to let you know that this review single-handedly convinced me to get one of these derringers. I chose the Century 2000 model. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review. I am in the market for a little snake charmer of some sort and I was debating between a little .22 with rat shot or something along the lines of the snake slayer or Texas defender. (same gun, shorter barrel) Your review was very well done and informative. I hope to see more like it in the future.
I own the Snakeslayer and it is an incredible gun. The thing kicks like a mule. Own a 1911 and unlike this vid, the kick on the snakeslayer feels like double! You should see the flames this thing shoots at night with such a short barrel.
this was an awesome review. cant beat made in texas bond arms. i cant wait to pick up my bond arms ranger. from what i gather from what ive read on the bond arms guns, you have to compensate for the top/bottem barrel firing, ive heard that the sights are only good for on of the 2 barrels, then the other barrel either ends up high or low. i dont mind either way cause i plan on using it for conceal carry, but for smaller targets(other than humans) im unsure of how it will work
Rusty! VERY nice video! This looks like it was made for TV, not UA-cam! Looks like a great gun. You and I are going to have to go shooting soon! Hope to see more videos like this from ya.
@muaythai193 the most damage??? the Winchester 000 buck shot in the 3 inch shell, has 5 pellets. I think this round would be the most ferocious, it is a bit punishing to fire out of the snake slayer.
I thought this video was very well done, I thought it was very professional and it was full of great, interesting, very useful information. I have always thought Derringers were very interesting and I liked seeing the well-built craftsmanship of the Bond Arms Snake Slayer. I appreciate fine craftsmanship and taking pride in your work. Are the .410 triple ot buckshot for the Snake Slayer Derringer hard to come by? To me they seem to be a "wildcat" round and hard to find and subsequently expensive
Fantastic review, and a great video. You had said that you and your friends were curious about the recoil, but you never gave your conclusion. What is your conclusion on the recoil?
Cool little gun. The folks of FLA. better arm themselves....and quick. All kind of Pythons, Green Mambas and King Cobras are spotted in numerous places throughout FLA.
Speaking with experience I wouldn't recommend this as a self defense weapon. Having been in a gunfight, the split second your gonna use cocking that trigger could and most likely WOULD mean the difference between life and death. My fight was over in 3 seconds and had I used even 1/5th of a second messing with a trigger I might not be here to post this. G30 saved me, yeah its bulk & weight but Fuck yeah it saved my life. Snakes....... Yeah I'd use this,,,,,, but personal protection??? Not me!
Thanks for posting. Most people probably want this for a snake gun so the shooting the targets with the bird loads was the most important part.... I wish you would have shot just one time then zoomed in and showed us the actual spread (you did okay with the #4's but not with the 7.5's). Shooting twice does not help and you never even showed the target with the # 7.5's which is what the majority of people would use in it...... just my $.02
Honestly, which sad git clicked dislike. This video is great, well presented and clearly spoken. Thanks for the review chap. somthing new for my wish list.
@mandograss if you shot someone in the face with the Number 7 it would mess up their day, but federal makes some good handgun loads in # 4 ,and 000 buck, either one would be good. for inside the house, use the #4 outside for protection, use the 000 and 45 LC is a good man stopper as well.
@MAAANVE It doesn't give much stability but my friend's gun has a very small amount of rifling at the very end of the barrel. It's not much and it's very shallow. It has to be there or this gun would be a short-barrelled shotgun (illegal). Why is everyone calling it the "Long Colt" now. Firearms manufacturers are even doing it. It's slang and incorrect. The proper term is .45 Colt.
Cicada are making that noise not locusts. A locust is a short horned grasshopper that has a congregational behavior and will swarm and decimate crops while a Cicada make a racket while sitting alone in a tree. Good gun review on the other hand! I want one!
Absolutely no offense intended by this, but having owned this gun before, the kick from this gun is pretty tremedous, especially if you've never owned a gun. I would NOT recommend this as a first gun. Don't get me wrong, it's a great gun, and a TON of fun to shoot... if you can handle it.
Small is OK as long as you know how to use it. At least that’s what my wife tells me when I’m feeling self-conscious.

Awesome demo. Best I've seen not only on this handgun, but on youtube as a whole. This guy needs to do lots more!!

stevo642007 .410 3 inch 000 buckshot is equal to two .45 ACP at once.
Seems like a good gun to keep in the glove box or on display in your home. Such a beautiful weapon
I have the snake slayer with the 4.25 inch barrel and it is a beast!
When you opened up your Derringer, you flipped the barrel backwards. I don’t do that to my Snake Slayer IV. I pull the barrel back with my other hand. I cannot stand to see someone flip the barrel backwards.
That 1911 may have my favorite grips ever.
That .45 is one of the nicest I've seen.
Perfect for my tacklebox. Them cotton Picken cottonmouths are taken over my bait fishing hole. Thanks for posting I'm going to go get one this weekend.
You answered all the questions I was looking for I sure appreciate it great video

IM A DAV IN A WHEELCHAIR AND CANT WALK N I WILL HAVE ONE UNDER MY CHRISTMAS TREE ❤❤❤
Snake slayer is a beautiful gun really nice great video thanks
Very nice quality video. This definitely influenced my purchase of the 3.5" SnakeSlayer.

Thank you for the demo/review- Ive been looking at one at my local gun store and you answered several questions I had.
Way kool, I wonder what the 4 1/4" barrel would be like?
Thx 4 sharing
Have been thinking about purchasing one of these. Thanks for the video
Nice video. Well done!
You have a very soothing voice.
Great feature on this awesome handgun. I wish more demos were shot and edited this well. When is the next video gonna be out?
I own the Snakeslayer and it is an incredible gun. The thing kicks like a mule. Own a 1911 and unlike this vid, the kick on the snakeslayer feels like double! You should see the flames this thing shoots at night with such a short barrel.
I like the grips on your 1911. Classy.
I wonder how this gun would preform with Winchester's new PDX1 ammo.
Damn, pretty impressive for a little shot.

Made in Grandbury Tx, seen them for sale in the square.

Great review. What's your thoughts on the load design? What's your feeling about putting your hand in front of the barrel when you reload it?
I enjoyed very much your vid, very informative. Good work. I am planning to get a snake slayer when I can. Best
Fantastic review, and a great video. You had said that you and your friends were curious about the recoil, but you never gave your conclusion. What is your conclusion on the recoil?
He's not lying. I sold my Snake Slayer to him. No joke, lol.
@hot2warm agreed! that's just badass!
Nice grip on that 45!
hey mr.Straightshot, is it possible for you to ever do a video on any of the other calibers that bond offers? ex: 9mm, .357, .40 S&W?
Cool little gun. The folks of FLA. better arm themselves....and quick. All kind of Pythons, Green Mambas and King Cobras are spotted in numerous places throughout FLA.
They make one that is chambered in .45 ACP.
I like wend you used 2in 7 in that slayer iv I got one and love it

@MAAANVE there is some rifling in the barrel, at the end. it shoot 45 colts well.......at close range.
Well, one this is for certain: My opinion of the .410 just went up a few points.
Getting the DRAGON here soon.
just wanted to say the" Snake Slayer" was in the" Jonah Hex" movie !
Very nice pistol
Honestly, which sad git clicked dislike. This video is great, well presented and clearly spoken. Thanks for the review chap. somthing new for my wish list.
Great video. If anyone hasn't said it yet, you sound exactly like sootch00. Are you guys brothers?
@mandograss if you shot someone in the face with the Number 7 it would mess up their day, but federal makes some good handgun loads in # 4 ,and 000 buck, either one would be good. for inside the house, use the #4 outside for protection, use the 000 and 45 LC is a good man stopper as well.
Allen wrench fitting?
Brother.
Good video brother, thanks, I think I go buy me one
Lol same here...I Might get one and do my own little review =P
Just wondering if bond arms makes 357 mag bottom chamber with more then 2 shots ,
@MAAANVE It doesn't give much stability but my friend's gun has a very small amount of rifling at the very end of the barrel. It's not much and it's very shallow. It has to be there or this gun would be a short-barrelled shotgun (illegal). Why is everyone calling it the "Long Colt" now. Firearms manufacturers are even doing it. It's slang and incorrect. I wish i could get this in CA...
could you tell me which ammunition, that can be used in this gun, does the most damage?
@MrBallistics 45 colt hands down. a 250 grain 45 is going thump much more than a slug.
Cicada are making that noise not locusts. A locust is a short horned grasshopper that has a congregational behavior and will swarm and decimate crops while a Cicada make a racket while sitting alone in a tree. Good gun review on the other hand! I want one!
Just don't slam the barrel shut with the hammer all the way down.
I bet at 4:15, the camera guy got a little nervous...
Ammo pretty hard to come by in 2009? What about 2013!?
hows the accuracy with the 45 long colt? if you can find the ammo that is?
nice 45
Love guns made in America - please handle carefully - a mistake could be rather costly.
that is not a standard 1911 sir... what you have is a commander size or a compact 1911 style frame. so your statement is incorrect.
@mandograss Mind if I ask how much. I'm looking into one and found one locally for $439.
would you recommend it?
I'm sorry.
with some work, yes it can. but it is not advisible.
where did u get ur grips for that 1911
what do you think will be more effective, .45 lc or slugs?
Senpai i think .45 Colt is more powerful than .410 Slugs.
Can you shoot +p 45 colt?
How did you get me to want to buy this?
Absolutely no offense intended by this, but having owned this gun before, the kick from this gun is pretty tremedous, especially if you've never owned a gun. I would NOT recommend this as a first gun. Don't get me wrong, it's a great gun, and a TON of fun to shoot... if you can handle it.
@hot2warm agreed
SSIV = Happy Camper ; )
Haha American derringer makes one of these in 45/70
Samuel colt made man equal :)
loaded gun a camera man?
Do not test fire the gun with the barrel open. The trigger will dent the top of your barrel. doh!!!
Yea, you sound jyst like sootch00.
And it's definately sam colt, not bond arms.lol
balls
Hunt the boar with.
zermomia )
Poor gun safety. Keep the finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
Learn how to grip an automatic before you start acting like an authority in the field lol.
