  • Living in Downtown Carmel Indiana... What's It Like? Downtown Carmel or Midtown Carmel... either place is really unique. It's certainl not like downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. But, Carmel isn't exactly trying to match Indianapolis. Living in this particular area offers a tremendous amount of walkability, bikability, and a dense but cozy feel to most of the surrounding streets. The Arts and Design District is what most people here know the downtown Carmel area as and it isn't short on places to go or things to do. There are plenty of restuarants, shops, and places to hang out for just about everyone in the family. In addition, the Monon Trail makes its way straight through the area too. If living in this area is something you're interested in there are many different options. From townhomes and condos to single family homes. Some homes are incredibly new while others are older. Living in downtown Carmel Indiana could be a fit for you if you like the unique feel. In this video I'll try to give you a sense of what the feel is like!

    I work for a major food Distributer that services many of the restaurants and catering businesses in that area. Outstanding people and the food they cook is great. The only unfortunate part to Camel is no real out of the way access (Like alleyways) to deliver to these places. Other delivery companies have similar problems. People do get upset when you have to block entire streets to do your job. Very popular area to be sure because it's still nice. Oh and Yes get used to construction everywhere. I do mean EVERYWHERE!!!

      That's too bad about the delivery problems. I didn't know that

      @@LivingInIndianapolis Ya we deal with it. City developers don't put things like that into consideration. For instance you were at a Restaurant called Savor. It showed a nice outdoor serving area. 4 months ago it was a loading zone. Not anymore. Now we just block that street right by that no truck sign. It's either that or we block off Main st there.

      Crazy how entire continent with hundreds of millions of people manage, the largest city in the world Tokyo, which is far more walkable than the suburban car centric hellscape that is the US

    Carmel is ok. I would not recommend living here if you're single. It's definitely more for families. I am from Tennessee and I have found that people here are not as friendly and welcoming as they are in the south. There are still some nice people here though. After living here for almost 2 years, I will be moving back to the south next week.

      Yes... Carmel isn't likely the best fit for many singles. It's certainly family oriented. Good luck to you and your move!

      Good to know! I'm also from middle TN and I've become sick of the growth / suburban sprawl / poor planning :( But as a single young professional, maybe Carmel wouldn't be the best option for me. It's a shame there aren't many many well-planned cities in the U.S.

    Carmel is carrying $1.5 billion (yes, billion) in debt, issued through bonds that will be coming due in the next couple of years. That's on top of normal operating costs. At some point, they'll have to increase taxes to pay them off. Just a word of warning to whoever is considering moving there.

    So, I grew up in Carmel and I've been considering moving back. Been kind of fun to see my hometown in a Casey Neistat like style. I wonder when you filmed this because that doesn't look like January.

      Where do you currently live? Thanks for watching. And, these videos aren't filmed in any chronological or seasonal order. I have many filmed and release them in a fairly random order. So the season may not match when it's released.

      30th and MLK is pretty rough. Get used to bullet resistant glass at all the businesses. But you can still walk around thanks to IMPD and their constant patrols thru the area. Still keep your head on a swivel though

    Can you make a video about tornadoes in Indiana, and which city’s have been more affected by them? I would like to move from Utah to Indiana but the tornadoes is the only thing holding me back.

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  3 роки тому +1

      They come up from time to time when I talk to people. I've lived in Indiana for 47 years and have never seen a tornado with my own eyes. They are more rare than you might think and when they do occur they're usually in rural areas.

    What is the best downtown area for seniors. I’m planning on renting a luxury apartment. Do you know of any apartment building that has an indoor pool or any other place that has an indoor pool?

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  3 роки тому

      There are some buildings that have indoor pools but not many. The only one that comes to mind right now is the "Real Silk Lofts" just off Massachusetts Avenue (Mass Ave) near downtown. Awesome area. However, it's a small pool.
