  • The Pros and Cons of Living in Carmel Indiana in 2022... Carmel, Indiana has been an incredibly popular suburb of Indianapolis. Carmel is actually quite a large city on the north side of Indianapolis at just over 100,000 people. Since it's incredibly popular there are some obvious pros of living there. But, there are some not so obvious pros for living in Carmel as well. But, it can't all be good. Carmel does have some cons and we'll certainly get into a few of those in this video.

    I've lived in Carmel for 4 years after living in Fishers and Castleton for many years. I prefer it here. The traffic actually isn't bad with the roundabouts, crime is low and there is plenty to do. It's a very nice city.

    Carmel is a decent city, I remember 20 years ago, it was not like it is now it was a nightmare to get thru. But it now it is easy to get thru. I personally always love the state of Indiana. I lived in South Bend for 18 years, my first house.

    You are absolutely missing the point on Carmel with all of the traffic talk. You're inviting motorists, minimizing how they would have to go slow, and can often move through and around the city quickly in a vehicle. This holds up the mindset that motorists own city streets and how fast they can go is all that matters.
    We moved to Carmel last year and built a home. Why did we move to Carmel? The ability to live car-lite and make use of the extensive network of multi-use paths to live with our e-cargo bikes. We came here exclusively because it's not supposed to be a city for the motorist.
    Don't do us a disservice by inviting more full time motorists to our city, they can literally have their pick of any other city across the entire country. Encourage people who are sick of dominating car culture and want to live a different lifestyle. That is important to so many in 2022 going forward.
    Again, cars ruin cities. Don't promote driving.

    Thanks so much for doing these videos about the suburbs of Indianapolis. Carmel is such a pretty quaint town! I'm a Cincinnati native living in northern CA and so ready to move back to the midwest. Carmel or Fishers fits the bill!

      @@LivingInIndianapolis Yes, very excited and looking forward. You are correct about a competitive City, I had been on the waiting list for a few months, finally got called, and just signed my new lease, I am hoping eventually I will transition to a Home, but I think leasing for now is my best option.

    Rant! What is terrible traffic? Austin TX! One of the worst. Cars literally flipped on their roof on straight roads in slow traffic areas, people driving nice newer cars with bumpers and fenders crunched in, super rude and dangerous drivers, and as much as TX is known for it’s steak lovers, T-bones here take on a whole new meaning as you view in horror people constantly running red-lights and stop-signs, risking life and limb just to get to a destination of a whole lot of nothing in this over-rated city. And that’s just the traffic! Carmel sounds like Heaven comparatively.

      Agreed -- I have been in and out of Austin over the last 20 years -- and it has always been bad.

    Currently live in Bloomington but considering relocating to Carmel for better quality of life with our young kids. How would the commute from Carmel to Bloomington a couple times a week not during rush hour be?

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  2 роки тому +1

      Just the distance is going to make this a long commute regardless of traffic. Traffic has the ability to add many minutes

      Plan on an hour and a half each way. The interstate helps but don't forget to tack on the ends of the journey, that's where traffic adds up 10-15 minutes. Zero traffic at midnight you're talking an hour and ten minutes, but that's not realistic.

    Can you touch on how much the housing market is in Indiana? I am looking to buy out of state for rental income. 3 to 4 bed 1400-2000 Sq ft?

    If your kids are rich, athletic, high IQ, beautiful & popular or if you’re empty nesters Carmel is for you - otherwise Westfield is best.
