Have you ever needed to export/import one After Effects composition into another project? Here's how:
1) In the project with the lower third that you want to bring into other projects, click on the lower thirds composition in your project window
2) Then go to File - Dependencies - Collect Files
3) Select 'For Selected Comps'
4) Check 'Reduce Project'
click 'Collect'
5) Save it wherever you want
6) When you want to import the lower third, just click File - Import and select the Lower Thirds Project File that you had saved. This will add that composition (and any other necessary files) to your new project.

Thanks. I really HATE when a tutorial could be reduced to 20 secs and ends this long unnecessarily.
ty
Thanks!
go fuck yourself, you have no manner.
no wonder you are poor. you too mickey
I've been collecting my project as a final save version, but I didn't realize you could do it for single compositions. This is going to be a real time saver. It's nice to be able to reuse what you can! Thanks for the upload.
When i return back to AE to do some kind of more advanced effect i return to this video as well, man you've saved me quite a good amount of time. Thank you!
This will save me so much time. Thank you.
Short, simple, and to the point. Much appreciated.
How did I manage to find Ethan Chlebowski burried in this old AE tutorial :o
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
instablaster.
This was a lifesaver. After Effects would keep throwing one of middle comp's pics on top of my last composition and no matter what I did, it just wouldn't go away. So re-importing the newly worked comp into my old file was the only option.
Hi Phil, thanks for this tip! so often i needed to do this but for some reason or another never got to it - this time however i needed to know it and finally learned it - your tutorial was great, big help! Thank you
