  • My first solo ride in the Peak District since September 9th 2023, the usual suspects stopped me, ya know family commitments, illness and life lol, you don't want to hear about that though, this ride was an XC ride full stop, long open stretches with plenty of leg spinning sections, its also got some brutal road climbs as well as some really steep stuff to get the heart pumping, the hairiest one was the super steep decent down to Stoke Hall which left me sitting on my rear mudguard, all in all I really enjoyed this ride as its got such a great variety of different riding surfaces, tarmac (not so enjoyable), loose techy stuff and plenty of boggy moorland, be careful if you ride it after a long wet spell as some of the bogs and puddles on the moorland are pretty deep and could cause an OTB job, on the day I was following Komoot and Garmin and they were supposed to sync'd but I got conflicting directions, I have listed this as not for kids on account of my language when a couple of death wish Pheasants flew across the road in front of me and the 'F' bomb slipped out, sorry guys my bad.

Looked a good ride Yorkney! I bet that decent at 15:00 mins in was a lot steeper than it looked on the go pro 😮. Nice to see you out riding again mate👍…… loved the highland cattle…. And thanks for the shout out…. Top Man.

That’s the steepest decent I’ve been down and the first time I’ve done it, ironically I’ve driven past it literally dozens of times and never noticed it, it was so steep my arse was on the mudguard.
Hey no worries pal, one good turn deserves another in my book.
Those Highland cattle are so cute but those horns are too big to get too close to and they had juveniles with them so I’m more cautious than usual, they can run pretty fast 🤣

Your not wrong pal, I suppose I could have stayed with wired but threading the shifter outer through my frame wasn’t a task I enjoyed as much as I did stripping it out and going wireless, the same applied when I went for a wireless dropper too, cockpit is a lot tidier too 👍

Really nice ride, I see theres been a lot of wash out on some of the sections especially sort of 12 to 15 minutes it was very easy to see the small ravines forming same as we have experienced over the last winter up here in the lakes ;-)

I came across a lot of wash out all over the place mate, I’m not surprised though given the rain we’ve had, the roads were like rivers on the verges and the moors had some really deep water holes too, like OTB deep 😮
