I love these videos... No boring commentary, no obnoxious background music, no fancy graphics. Cycling and UA-cam in its purest form. This is what YT was for back in the day.
It's pointless to say don't try this at home so I'll just say to every cyclist who watches this: learn what "target fixation" is and how to avoid it. These two (and all pros) are masters of not fixating on dangers in the road (especially oncoming cars) and finding the safe line in those situations. Good life advice too.
Good shout, can still remember being coached in my XC days into not looking where you don't want to.. Still think about it now on any techy or sketchy riding
@@roadglide exactly this. There are times where things happen unexpected. Just last week i went around a blind bend and a truck was there taking over the whole path. Lucky there is a grass to go onto. My fault. If I can’t see ahead then i shouldn’t assume empty. My bike crash last year was an equipment failure and I flew off the bike, snapped the collar bone. Hell when i see the cliff in this vid, I’m tempt to fly off mentally so I don’t have to hear my wife’s nagging anymore 😂😂😂
This is exactly why so many people hate cyclists in Switzerland... overtaking without looking ahead (5:10), running a red light (6:10), again on the wrong side of the road with a bend ahead...(09:00) and again at 11:53. This may be fun for you, and it has worked this time. But the time will come when a car suddenly appears. And maybe you think about the other person in the car. The trauma that person must be going through, maybe killing a person while just trying to enjoy a nice rideout, just because you couldnt be a little bit more patient.
5:10 This is insane to make that overcom in the corner, (at almost 70km.h) These boys are risking their lives with these descents in tight turns. There is a saying, once it works, the second time, it works, but the third time, it can just go, and at such speeds, no one saves you, if some car was comming from the opposite direction it will be AMEN AND GO TO HEAVEN.
Al cielo?si la vida es un regalo de Dios, para que crees que quiera Dios gente irresponsable que no cuida su vida.Estos van derechito pero al panteón.Eclesiastes 9:10
Yep. It happened to me in 1998. Last year I was finally able to drive downhill again... you are right, a car or anything comes, you are not able to stop. It didn't worth it. I was young, too brave... I lost so many years, and missed cycling. Be sure you are able stop in any circumstances
They can risk their own lives as much as they like. But at 12:28 they are risking other peoples lives. There is usually a reason why there is a 30 km/h speed limit in a village. But who cares, they blast through the village full speed, respect is for wimps. Reckless, not funny. And what for? Less than 10 Seconds later they finish their run anyway. Plain stupid.
Wow! Just wow! I drove from Milan to Lucerne last fall and visited all the famous spots in the region. Roads are insane. The never ending tunnels … it’s just heavenly. To be honest at some spots I was scared driving on the mountains and these riders are fearless and a so freakishly good.
The view is stunning. Glad I stumbled upon the SAFA Brain channel because your videos take me on a journey to different locations through road biking. Watching the SAFA Brain videos puts me in a relaxing mood because I love seeing pro cyclists ride on the open road. Keep up the good work!
just drove a very similar style but very short one yesterday, so let me tell you about fear. There is no fear, there is just pure joy and euphoria. You are so high on emotions and so focused on the bike that it becomes your limb extension. There is an enormous control over the bike so most of the situations are pretty safe. The rest is beyond your influence anyway
I did this descent last year. That lack of barriers. You’d fly and drop HUNDREDS of feet if you missed a hairpin. Have you done the Gavia to Ponte di Legno descent? If you like danger, that’s for you. Single track. No barriers, huge drops. Very easy to die on. I followed a couple of motorbikes down, so was well in control. Only felt scared later when I remembered it!
6:13 red is for every vehicle , not just for cars, the car on the opposite direction has green, so the crash is justa a inch away, you like adrenaline to the max, but life?
… and riding with 65 km/h in a „30 Zone“ (at the end) is completly stupid 🤮. What will happen if a child is running into your way, I can‘t belief what I saw 👎
A moment of appreciation for the guy shooting the video ... amazing. .. And to the Swiss people , you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful country ... Cheers!!! For guys like me from Kenya , I can only envy you.
Few, if none, have noticed the flash at @12:35 coming from the house on the right. Riding through at village at 65 kph warrants a ticket for speeding :-)
I did this yesterday and GrimselPass the day before, both are utterly magnificent and just enormous to the eye. The peaks still have snow on them right now and my god is it something to behold, I stopped to take it all in and it is incomprehensible to the mind. Man its hard to not look at them when youre descending but I tell ya if you look for 2-3 secs too long youre a goner
Dura Ace HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKES DONT FAIL. IF ONE FAILED, U STILL GOT ANOTHER ONE. THEY ARE THAT GOOD THAT ONE BRAKE WILL STOP YOU. I KNOW, IVE HAVE THEM ON MY SCOTT FOIL
Beautiful pass route! But I will never understand why at 12:26 you rage through the village at over 40 MPH when it is only allowed around 19 MPH… Just reckless
if this was shot in INDIA, you would frequently pulling break due to traffic on the road way. Blessed to have clear sky and clear ROAD with beautiful senery around.
I understand the need and effect of throwing a knee out in the direction of turn, to reduce wind drag, sit on the seat. Place your knees together point toes forward with heels in. Hands under the handle bar head tucked down. I used a mirror over the front wheel I could see the road from. Hairpins I would begin early from the very outside to the center the to the outside mimicing the outer edge of the road.
This is the most amazing footage I’ve ever seen! They should hire you guys to film the TdF descents, from inside the peleton, because your descent filming technique is a thousand times better than the official videos. If not for the side shot at the beginning, I would have assumed that the person recording was on a motorcycle.
I would have done ”Mary Poppins” from first corner with these speeds.. and gone To The Moon! before crashing spectaculary on the hill.. crazy smooth ride! 🤩
I would never get balls to do this in my bicycle which is pretty simple. Imagine the own wheel getting the bicycle in the downhill when there is not even fence on the road. I would love to fly and stop in those hard stones right below 😂👏 nice video by the way
I was wondering what leveling hardware you are using for the perspective shots? I created a simple leveler for just this reason called TIPTLT. Happy to send one to you if you would try it!
SAFA defies the laws of aerodynamics....dude is always keeping up with the riders he films while wearing backpack/camera gear! Gotta love the Scott Addict RC's they are so fast on both the climbs and descents :)
Which gimbal are you using? and which gopro? which ND filter? your videos are so smooth, yet when I record my videos it is really shaky even when I use gimbal.
Just the sound of the gear shifting is so satisfying.

You mitigate dangers as best you can. Tire blow outs, carbon failures, animals , anomalies, etc. When it’s your time. It’s your time. Peace

Absolutely stunning scenery! Loved how you could see down into the valley and even some of the lower hairpins as you descended.
Watching this in 4k in the morning has given me a smile for the day 😎 the image quality is amazing, well done for the superb ride !
Thanks

Well said, these selfish people really piss me off. Just to satisfy their own pleasure and put so many unnecessary people at risk along with them.

Jealous of all the amazing roads you get to ride! That scenery and lighting is so gorgeous it almost looks CG!

Not a second in this video that isn't completely gorgeous and picture-esque. Dope as hell man!

the sheer sound of gears changing and the sound of friction of the chain while he powers is surreal
One brake failure right before a turn and you're done!
Main thing that scares me going down the roads in Colorado's mountains.

Totally agree. Speed limits in built up areas are there to protect pedestrians.
Technically speed limits do not apply to bicycles in Switzerland... That being said. I agree, it's reckless.
My mind is completely blown…. Brother Safa once again you inspire the soul of it all. This was brilliant!!!
The view on the 1st minute, amazing, i should definitely visit this country someday.
Amazing view and awesome descend! Thank you for sharing the video.
This landscape looks fantastic
Wow what a ride! What a road! Amazing from top to bottom.
Perfect place to ride a bike🙂
The footage is amazing. The view is just awsome.
This is about as perfect as cycling can get!
No cars would be perfection.
great weather, great ability and courage, great video
awesome !
Kudos to the man following you on his bike
I feel that the camera man is even more skillful with constant distant from the biker and super stable camera view.

amazing how little traffic. Did the Furka a few years back, love this road
Probably because motorists are afraid of meeting cyclists like this and being charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Amazing video, i love the beautiful nature.
only a few weeks and the pass will be open. Can't wait to get there
That turn at 5:09 was pure suicide!
yeah my first thought was wow thats moronic
One of them will get killed one day. All it takes is for something to come out on the road like a stray dog and it's goodnight!
And stones on the road, I can't imagine, the consequences! But awesome video lol
12:37 exactly my reaction when I got to the bottom into Realp (the town at the bottom)...most satisfying euphoric feeling ever
the amount of trust one must have in their gear to hit these speeds... unreal.
Very pleasant. God bless you for practicing this sport
