BEIGHTON BARLOW XC LOOP 4-9-2024
Hello and welcome to my video write-up I did on the 4th of September,
Because my car was in the garage at the moment, I decided to do a ride that starts close to the village where I live, although it was a ride I'd done some years previously before I had forgotten about most of it's route, I'd also forgotten that it was a great ride with plenty of flowing single track with some stuff I've never been on because I deviated from the tour by accident, a lot of the other I'd just completely forgotten about, this was great because one section near Barlow was fantastic although very loose, as I'm not keen on road work unfortunately for me there was some road work included some stiff climbs, one section up to the transmitter near Old Whittington and the other was the climb through and out of West Handley, as you can see in my video there was some sections that needed a machete with the brambles and nettles and of course I copped it from both on my arms and legs, my fault for wearing a short sleeve jersey and shorts lol, I also discovered some new trails in Eckington woods and the on the outer edge of the Barrat estate in Eckington too, I finished the ride with a detour from the original tour cutting up Pipworth Lane after leaving Eckington but this was to avoid the horrible noisy and busy Rotherham Road, Pipworth Lane is a quiet leafy lane that ends, turns into a single track and then crosses the River Rother and continues to the old railway trackbed at Killamarsh, this is where I ended the ride, so although there is quite a lot of road work on this ride I'd say 90% of it is on quiet estate roads and I'd also say it's well worth doing for anyone who lives in this area or a little further afield too, I hope you enjoy the video and decide to try it for yourself, all I ask is that you please like, comment and subscribe to my channel, IT'S COMPLETLY FREE but helps me, I reply to all comments but please bare with me if I don't reply straight away, I'm going through a rough patch at the moment with mental health issues but I will reply, thanks for your understanding. This video contains what I call mildly offensive language so I've listed it as not made for kids, I also have to thank the people who have subscribed to my channel too, thanks guys 🙏🙏🙏

Hello everyone and welcome to my channel and to my latest video, I decided to do this local ride because I had a 503 ERROR code on my Kiox display, hopefully with the fault fixed I did this ride as it was fairly flat and if I did have any another problems it wouldn't have been as difficult to ride my bike home, anyway this ride was quite good with mixed terrain, starting with flat railway track...

This is a fantastic area to ride, even though it's within easy reach of Sheffield it feels remote in many areas, it's also very picturesque, especially with the Heather in bloom, there's so many different trails to ride your spoiled for choice, for anyone who likes trail centres, Lady Cannings trail centre is a must with the famous Cooking on Gas and blue Steel trails, but this ride also has ju...

A great ride with just about every surface and all levels of tech, Hollinsclough being the most technical by far, there were cows too so if you don't like cows you'd better not try this ride, aside from that its a blast, with many punchy climbs and decents there's no reason not to love this ride, as you can imagine with it being July and the height of the summer months, there's sections that ar...

My first ride in 5 weeks and it was a great one and didn't I know about it physically, very technical and some difficult sections that tested my abilities to the max, the section down from Back Tor was the most difficult section I've ever ridden in my life and indeed I ended up pushing a lot of it, the trail this side of Win Hill was a blast and my first time, but the push up win Hill was awful...

I did this ride in early February last year and two weeks ahead of a spinal injections procedure and I was in quite a lot of pain so a local easy ride seamed the sensible thing to do, it is a ride i've done before, in fact it's a ride I go back to several times a year when i'm short on spare time, in pain, or eager to ride my bike, it has got quite a few things going for it to say it's semi rur...

Now this is a fantastic ride and definitely one of my favourite rides, the reason? Beeley Bar lane, on a quiet day with no walkers it's one of those "as fast as you dare" descents, it's a long fast flowing descent that'll put a grin on your face from ear to ear, speeds of 40mph are capable if you have the balls to just let your brakes off and just let it go, the good news is that this ride has ...

Another excellent ride in the Peak District and a first time for me in this area at that time, lots of technical stuff in picturesque scenery, i'd class this as a cross country ride with some flat trails across open moorland but with 3225 feet of total ascent it's far from flat, as usual, anyone with an e-bike or reasonable physical fitness should be fine with this ride, there are lots of other...

      Thanks Ian, yep the simplicity of a bit of aluminium, trouble is I now have a slight creaking noise but I’m sure it’s coming from my non drive side crank arm, I had to remove that to check all the connectors on my motor but I only realised that when I was on the ride that I didn’t use any marine grease, if it turns out it’s not that that’s creaking I’ll check out the cassette again 😉

      Cheers Rob, I’m not an expert pal, a lot of the time it’s a process of illumination, this time I had an idea that it might be a magnet/sensor issue because I was getting no speed readout on my Kiox, I just removed the back wheel and moved another magnet I had in front of the sensor making sure it was facing the correct way, ie North South poles of a magnet as it only works one way on my bike, when I got a readout I knew it was the magnet, I bought some industrial strength magnets of varying sizes just in case one didn’t work, then I’d have a choice of what to try next 😉 I just have to find out where the creaking noise is coming from now, as I said to Ian, I think it’s coming from the non drive side crank arm as I forgot to add some marine grease to it on refitting it, oh well it’s either that or the cassette 🤞🤞🤞

    Nice steady loop for you, nettles brambles and gorse are all getting full on , plus the flying things too, look a good ride and a good idea to test things befo re going further afield . I'm just having major problems with the motor on my old Cannondale . It wont turn on and the controller wont communicate with the motor meaning the caanbus wont tell the battery to work , all in all its basically a pcb failure which I had diagnosed myself but had to go in to try and get it on Bosch tools ....which can't communicate with the motor either , bikes a touch of 3 years old and never swamped etc, I even pulled the motor apart to check for water ingress, bearings are as new and no sign of any ingress, so now Wheelbase are going to submita report to Bosch at best Imight get a slightly discounted motor !.. I suppose I was Just lucky I didn't sell it right away after buying the Whyte or i would have some very pissed off buyer throwing it back at me , unbelievable failing literally days after buying the new bike , I took it out for a short ride and it just turned off, it turns on for a few seconds on Kiox then says goodbye and won't recognise the battery, I've had two different batteries on , checked all continuity of every wire needed , even tried the old purion controller direct in the motor to no avail, pre smart system gen 4, eventually took it in to get the final verdict , I'm now at the mercy of Bosch for the price of a new motor. But then the bikes useless without a motor so I either replace the motor or gut the motor and remove the battery and use it as an analogue 😞

    • @yorkneytrailrider1751
      @yorkneytrailrider1751 3 місяці тому

      Bloody hell mate, it’s a major dilemma, although saying that, Bosch are pretty good with their customers I’ve heard, if they won’t give you a new motor they usually help with the repair costs or so The Yorkshire Bike Mechanic says on UA-cam. Your not wrong about the flying things either, I lost count how many of the bloody things I ingested on Saturday, one of them hit me right in the back of my throat and almost made me sick, I hate them and the thought’s of what it could’ve been on before it ended up in my body makes me 🤮

My fastest speed so far recorded on the kiox has been 46.9 mph that feels fast even tho I'm often faster on motorbikes, I agree with you there it's having the confidence to just send it and trust your brakes and tyres, I'm now running 220mm rotors at both ends as I tend to use my rear way too much and ended up with little or no rear brake and having to constantly pump the lever
