The audience went from excited cheering to quiet listening in order to not interrupt any dialogue was so wholesome

As someone who saw this live near the front, the audio here is surprisingly good! The crowd was 10x louder than represented here and I could not understand most of what was said lol. The cheers for g'raha were way way louder than for everyone else

@avengingfossil9674 The new jobs are always in the trailers somehow, at least since Stormblood.
Stormblood - WoL is SAM.
Shadowbringers - Thancred is GNB, random Viera is DNC.
Endwalker - Alphinaud is SGE, Zenos is RPR.
Dawntrail - WoL is ???, Krile(?) is ???
For Dawntrail, I'm betting the WoL is Corsair/Pirate of some kind with a sword + gun as the job weapons. And in the full trailer, not the teaser we have here, he will cast off his burning coat during that fight scene and whip out a pistol in his free hand.
People are speculating that Krile will be in the full trailer as well, and show off the new caster job. Because we know the new jobs are 1 Melee DPS (the WoL most likely) and 1 Caster DPS (probably Krile, cause she needs a new job / outfit update).
I love how much FF14 players love their devs, it is so different from any other mmorpg. Like if you had this for wow, sure, the wow fans may cheer the trailer, but when the dev comes out they sure won't be chanting his name. Yoshi P is the goat of game devs and it is great to see him smile and run around at everyone chanting him on
Metzen and Brode definitely got cheered themself when they came up on stage. Maybe not name chantning, but they were definitely celebrated (at least as long as people were currently happy with the state of the game).
WoW used to have that fan loyalty to their dev teams, but burned it all away with Scandal after Scandal and bad product after product.
Guild Wars 2 devs are loved too, every livestream is cheerful and happy.
When you make quality content, players will cheer you. No surprise there.
@@manip1980 given a lot of the news around mmorpgs over the last... like... 10 years, it low key is surprising... tera is dead, rift shot itself in the foot, WoW... well, don't need to explain that mess. Some have been doing well, like FF14 and guild wars 2, both of them have been getting a lot of good praise mainly, but a lot of mmorpgs have died off or started failing the last few years

As someone who doesn't play FF14, hearing and seeing how the audience reacts to character reveals is something special. I have no clue who the characters are, but the people do and they are loving it.,
10 years of growth and story telling without compromising or retconning will do that. It’s a joy to witness.
@@jessecoxThere were retconnings as always happens when you have no idea of the story you want to tell until the end, but they did an excellent job of handling them
@@Trattato68 not really retconning, they just recontextualized some things, more like stapling on to the back or front of a story than tearing a page out and slapping a new one in.
@@keithfilibeck2390 Some things are recontextualizations, others are not. The most sensational is the mothercrystal which in ARR is told as a sort of nucleus of the planet or in any case an element that helps to give it life while in EW it has become crystallized ether. In HW or at the end of ARR you can also see half the mothercrystal dark who wants to make it clear that Zodiark was taking over
I don't know who any of those characters are, or what the significance of the land that the boat is going to is, but I'm happy for all those people that are happy about the game they love. Cheers from a WoW player.
the guy in the cloak is the stand-in for us, the player character, and we're going to fantasy Brazil for a storyline that so far doesn't seem to involve a threat to even the entire planet, after a long arc that kept expanding and expanding to be a universal problem, and we're bringing all our besties along for a low(er) stress vacation

@@VDA19 probably in one of the sections of the trailer they cut out; NA fanfest is usually "teaser trailer", EU fanfest we'll get a couple more scenes with "extended teaser trailer", and finally with JP fanfest revealing "full expansion trailer"
he's the first voice you hear in the trailer, and there's a blurry blink and miss it shot of him on the boat. We'll get more of him in the later versions of the trailer.

@@Greco4915 that's more Johnny Depp's character than Orlando Bloom's honestly, but i can't help but want to see a jar of dirt added to the expansion in some capacity.
I think Erenville is just very based and likeable overall.
He has a good voice, good name and a good design becoming the staple bun boy. There aren't that many male Viera in the first place.
And the interactions with us where nice, he didn't just help us straight had more of a round-a-bout way of doing things. giving him some more character and charm.
I remember someone saying its like a One Piece opening and that's pretty on point.

Every anime needs a beach episode
This is going to be the best "beach episode" ever!
The fact that every time this trailer came up on the video loop it had people cheering for G'raha eating the taco really shows what kind of community this is.
there's something so special about a live crowd being able to react to the trailer like this again
though i am particularly fond of the exchanges Yosida had with the crowd later on;
yoshi p; "gold saucer update"
crowd; "BLITZBALL"
yoshi p; "no blitzball!"
this happened at least twice.
blitzball was the only response i could make out to the "what jobs do you want?" question. Though it does seem FF10 inspired this expansion, so while we probably won't get blitzball we'll likely get other aspects that made Spira special.
allow me to give you a little hope. Yoshi P said "no blitzball" in response to the Gold Saucer update for 6.5 (which we now know is Fall Guys). There is definitely still a chance for Blitzball in 7.0. Especially with all the FF10 influences here (though there is some FF6 in there as well with one of the Primals we fight being Tritoch).
I have legitimately never seen so much consistent love for any game in such a manor and it gets me everytime frfr

My wife and I picked a fantastic time to pick Final Fantasy 14 back up it seems. Met 10 years ago on FF14, played together for 2, got married and stopped for 8, and now we're back lol.

Happy to see people getting so positively excited about videogame announcements. Reminds me of older Blizzcons, something that is obviously a thing of the past now
I love the fact that people also laughed at Estinien being surrounded by small creatures. I love that the emerging Elezen trope is 'tall race with small companions crowding them' and it's so great.
I can't tell I think I think the crowd is hyped, but I can't tell. In all seriousness this look so good. So many rumors already about what the new classes will be. I'm getting strong FFX and the 3rd expansion fo FFXI vibes and I'll all for it.
It's hype just, we have a lot of respect for cutting down our cheers to listen to every single visual/audio from the trailer to start speculations during our time in Fanfest. As every trailer from now on, will have each piece of the full trailer, what we saw now is part 1, part two will be in EU fanfest, and last will be JP which will give us the entire trailer.

WoL looking pirate-y at the end on the boat... that plus Yoshi-P's shirt with a dual saber wielding character makes me think corsair for our new melee! As for the new caster, gotta be Green Mage based on the shirt, no?
I mean it could be anything, but seeing how the WoL sorta spinned blocked away I'm guessing some sort of corsair/gambler class.
Another possibility is Pictomancer due to the TMNT being named after artists.
Someone guessed Magic Knight based on the sword. And if that's the case, I will absolutely have a new main.
The popular theory is the turtles shirt means some sort of artist as the spellcaster, like Relm in FF6. And Krile will probably take that job. Melee might be Corsair. It might use scouting which is also ninja related.
I think Corsair is most likely for the melee job and will be what the WoL ends up being in the cinematics. You can catch really small glimpses of his outfit under the robe with the various straps and his haircut seems rather sailorish. As for the caster DPS, I think the Painter/Pictomancer theory is sound after seeing YoshiP's shirt. The Turtles are named after famous painters/artists. While Green Mage could be possible, Green Mage was traditionally more of a healer/support class. Not to say they couldn't just change what a green mage does, but painter would probably come across as more unique. Plus it would be a great job to give Krile as others pointed out

The New expansion has me hyped, Wol looks happy. The new continent has a lot of central american and south american aesthetic i love it.

He's actually in the trailer itself, in the last boat shot as it zooms away from the boat you can see Alphinaud to the right of the WoL, obscured by whatever that object is on the side of the ship.

I just got super emotional watching this all over again having experienced it live at Fan Fest. This was truly one of the BEST experiences I've ever had and there was nothing like being part of that much collective hype about a game we all love so much.
Wait, you're here at the con?!?! Omg! I was there! I literally think I can hear myself screaming at G'raha. (My voice is high pitched). Looks like you got a seat, we were standing in the back left of stage near the "golden WoL" 10th anniversary poster. The whole keynote and opening ceremony afterward was awesome. Sokken and Ishikawa getting those insanely loud cheers at opening ceremony were priceless!

For people who don't know, the trailers are broken up into sections. This is not the whole trailer. They will play this trailer in London but it will have things added to it. It's little reveals at a time to keep you guessing and excited till the last reveal.
People are cheering for characters (even if they are just eating a taco ), because you've grown an attachment to them. (If you've not played. You won't know).
I am glad that FFXIV still getting updates

Man...I had several problems with the way things were handled at Fanfest....but just being in that room with a bunch of other WoLs and experiencing the energy of seeing a new trailer with everyone was undeniably awesome.
Pirate/ Corsair class? I'm up for it! Let's go YoshiP! I'm a bit bummed up, I was really hoping YoshiP would've worn that Corsair costume to give us a glimpse of hope for that new class' reality!

Alright so, 100% WoL is some kind of new pirate job here. That's the melee for sure, and we have TMNT shirt for a hint on the caster.
Pirate / Corsair / Swashbuckler / Buccaneer / Etc, whatever you wanna call it.
For the caster, I'm completely biased on this, but turtle (animal) shirt + heavy emphasis on living with nature in the new expansion = Druid? Getting my hopes up for my favorite class. Also one of the art pieces they showed off for the city has a robed guy with a staff that gives me some Druid vibes, but probably just my bias.
And it shows WoL fighting the current leader of the city 1v1 and Yoshi talked a lot about how the story will center around a contest to decide the new city leader.
So are we competing for ourselves? Or are we championing a candidate? I kinda hope it's not the latter just because I don't think I like the idea of someone winning purely because they lucked out and hired the WoL as a merc lol

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Geomancer, but Druid would also be totally legit. We need a naturey caster since WHM is purely light-flavored now.
Edit: also ya, Corsair seems quite likely ✌️

Ya, when I was in the crowd I couldn't hear a damn thing it was so loud. I think it's just how phones record sound.

The best part is, throughout the entire event, the trailer was part of a continuously playing loop of video, and whenever G'raha eating a taco came up people would still stop and cheer
