To think, Estinien started out as an unvoiced character in the dragoon side story. Now he's riding a member of the first brood of the dragons into the eye of the storm at the destruction of Eorzea.

Isn’t it crazy, even graha was the same in shadowbringers. He was just a side character in ARR alliance raid sidequest lol. But he was very important in shadowbringers expansion.

I have to say that I absolutely love the character arc for Estinien.
In ARR, he's so bent on revenge that he is willing to do anything to gain power, even if it means being influenced by Nidhogg. He gives in to the rage and tries to attack his own mentor, only to be stopped by the WoL. He is able to help with defending Ishgard, but says he wants to kill Iceheart for her role in the attacks.
In Heavensward we work with Estinien to try to stop Nidhogg. He's open to the idea of working with Iceheart/Ysayle (if highly critical of it) and follows us on our journey to meet with Hraesvelgr, slowly warming up to both Alphinaud and Ysayle. After discovering the truth about why Nidhogg wants to destroy Ishgard, his attitude changes and (while recognizing that Nidhogg can only be stopped by being killed) he at least doesn't want to kill every dragon he sees.
He gets possessed by Nidhogg, rescued by us and Alphinaud, and then decides to step back from being the Azure Dragoon. Being possessed by Nidhogg made him realize how similar the two of them were and ended up having a significant effect on him.
If you do "The Paths We Walk" questline after finishing all of Heavensward, you actually discover some of what happened to Estinien after he quietly left Ishgard. In the ending stuff for Heavensward, you see a bit where Estinien is leaving with a bouquet of flowers. It turns out that he went to Azys Lla and left the flowers near the spot where Ysayle had sacrificed herself to protect everyone from the Garlean battleship. He also takes some flowers and lays them down in honor of Ratatoskr, the dragon that was betrayed by the first Thordan and his 12 knight. Hraesvelgr sees him, and as a way of both thanking Estinien and reminding him that he is still needed as a Dragoon, gives him a set of armor originally blessed by Ratatoskr. Estinien then names the armor "Iceheart" in honor of Ysayle.
He's shown in Stormblood and Shadowbringers to be tracking down various dragons, although in the cases in which we run into him it turns out that his main goal is to reason with them if at all possible. And when helping us cure Tiamat, it actually seems like he has decided to try to help out as Nidhogg might have wanted to before being consumed by revenge.
Overall, it's a very good character that takes advantage of the overall "cool" appearance/playstyle of Dragoons to enhance the arc he goes through. Yes, it's very cool to see someone in awesome-looking armor, but it gets so much better when you know that Estinien started off hating all dragons. But now he's gotten to the point where he has suffered and matured enough to work hand-in-hand with members of the First Brood, and as such has gained the full potential of what a Dragoon can be.
great part about estinien is if you were a dragoon during AR he will remember you and call you the azure dragoon
What about Y'shtola ???? The evolution of Y'shtola is the best imo. Incredible char. Just look at how she looked like in ARR job quest.
I love the fact that it opens with with the Warrior of Light walking, dressed like an Ascian, with his back to the sun as Azem. And ends with him killing the monster that was the prelude to the End of Days in Amarout in one blow. XD I need this music so bad.
i legit blew my friend's mind when i told her 'yea the constellation crystals? Azem's symbol is the sun.' and she went like :oooo

Npcs tell you they forgot how the wol looks like, they can only remember a shadow walking against a blinding light...
So maybe they didn't forget but remember our soul more than our face?
I get it's a way to have the wol be whoever but it's still cool in symbolism terms to pick it back up for the trailer :D

I'm thoroughly convinced that we will essentially be avenging the old Ascian civilization, with the ultimate threat of Endwalker being whatever caused the original calamity that started everything and drove the Amaroutines to create Zodiark.

@@omnilisk279 That's fine, this is just my personal feelings after all, as are most things on the Internet. The reason I feel this is because of how they are summing up a huge story arc that has been around forever, and combining all the elements of every expansion into the theme was just incredible and made me quite emotional. It's like a finale of my journey through the game all these years. Not to mention all the events of Shadowbringers revealing so much about everything.

I just realized, that wasn't Tiamat, it was Vrtra. There were two dragons unaccounted for from the first brood, so I guess we'll see where they were this whole time.
Based on the name, I think we will meet Vrtra in Thavnair where he and Estinien are fighting in the trailer.
@@psyberfoxx8119 Yah from what I was told, Vrtra was in Thavnair, we aren't too sure about Azdaja. Azdaja might appear in 7.0, maybe they might choose to show Azdaja sometime later, especially since it is the end of the Haedylyn-Zodiark arc.
Yup Estinien have said. "The hour has come Vrtra, it's all or nothing!"
Considering that Thavnair is based off India, and Vritra is an Hindu Dragon(-like being), he likely was hidden or sleeping in Thavnair all along.
Meanwhile, Azdaja is a slavic dragon, which means they might be related to a Hrothgar nation or place, since Hrothgar have canonical slavic naming conventions.
@@torashiki5646 If that is the case Azdaja would be in Ilsabard, I assume we will probably meet Asdaja around that time, by what means, I'm not too sure, considering it seems like the region is being burnt to a crisp with what looks like sky whales flaming to the ground and whole cities just burning with Zenos not giving a care in the world, lol.

The problem is such a movie would cost a ton of money. Full CGI movies are still a fantasy

It feels like just yesterday when Jesse was going off on Dodger for spending so much time on a Final Fantasy MMO on the Co-Optional Podcast.

Best trailer I've ever seen. 10 years full circle. The music, the characters, the suspense. Goosebumps everytime I watch.
Does anyone else cry when they see this trailer? Like it's the complete end to the story we've been doing for YEARS, and the beginning of another and I'm kinda scared to see what they're gonna do, who they're gonna kill off.

ikr? just when you think you're done with FF XIV, Yoshi-P pulls out all the stops and rekindles your love for this absolute masterpiece of an MMO, or at the very least, reels you back in.
I think alot of people are overlooking something when Fandaniel speaks to Zenos for the first time...that wasn't just some fires going in the distance, it was the capital city of Garlemald.
All of Garlemald is literally burning to the ground. The fucking lore implications of this are insane.
Zenos would prefer to watch the world burn if it means we come running to fight him.
The full trailer just BLEW ME UP! I was like "eh... Shadowbringers was better" when I saw preview one but this? HOLY DAAAMN!
the last trailer couldn't reveal the stuff from 5.5 which this did (estinien, the battles, dragons, zenos' new weapon, ystola in sharlyan) 5.5 was basically the beginning of the story.
One of my favorite moments in this trailer is each shot of the main characters near the end. You know the story each one has been through to get to this point and that each one has a pivotal part to play in the final act.
I have no idea what this is, but its epic.

I just realized something about this trailer...we progress from unknown steps into a new world (either from the 1.0 journey or every 2.0-onward player), and progressively go into each expansion in order.
The twins for ARR, Estinien for Heavensward, Zenos for Stormblood, our Scions fresh from The First in their Shadowbringers outfits.
All the leifmotifs. All the settings. All the build-up. An even a subtle Cecil nod with the WoL going from ending the Shadowbringers trailer as Dark Knight to being a Paladin on the fucking moon to cement "you FF4 fans are about to get some FOOD."
This feels like everything is going to end. *AND YET IT'S ONLY AN THAT'S ENDING.*

I want WoW players to have a similar experience to what we're having as FFXIV fans are feeling. Every expansion pack building up from one another leading up to an epic conclusion with it's story continuation.

Each expansion, there is like a mian story of that expansion.
Within each expansion, there is an overarching story.
This, I believe, is the climax of the overarching story, that is how big it feels for some of us.
As someone who only joined ff14 little bit after stormblood came out, I have loved to watch Jesse fall in love with the game. It's been one hell of a journey!

Dammit Jesse. I’ve been watching you for years and I stumbled upon your stormbreakers reaction a couple months ago. I’m an avid FF fan and now I have a great computer I decided To buy it. Now two months later I’m fully hooked haven’t seen my friends and family for months lost 10 pounds and am having so so so so much fun. So thanks Jesse. This game is awesome

@@keaton3258 Yeah Yoshi-P has been the producer for FFXIV since the ARR reboot, he took over the team after 1.0 crashed and burned and lead them to release patches for 1.0 while simultaneously making 2.0 in the background. Because of how well Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers all did with him still serving as producer he was made producer of the upcoming FFXVI as well, with the same writing staff that worked on Heavensward working on 16 now.
Endwalker will have the same lead writer as Shadowbringers, who previously wrote the Dark Knight job storyline, Crystal Tower raid, Azim Steppe and Ninja job quests.

I absolutely love the teaser and then the full trailer. At that final bit when he swings his sword back around everything connects and youre like shiiiiiiiiiit
I really want to see what they do with each of the Scions in this. If this is gonna be the conclusion to the story up until now, then any character who doesn't get a sufficiently important part in the resolution is going to feel like they've been relegated to less important side characters. And Alphinaud and Allisae absolutely need to play some of the biggest roles because of how just how closely related to Sharlayan they are.
Estinien Stardiving off the back of one of the first brood might be the coolest thing I've ever seen in a video game.
The scene in the Churning mists is given me all sorts of hope that Midgardsormr's surviving spawn is about to go full Dragonsong War against the apocalypse.
EDIT: Upon closer inspection it isn't the Chruning Mists, but looks like Thavnair due to the statues and palm trees.

i have no idea what any of this means, but i am always glad to see these two hyped up about something.
This is the finale of a story that has been building up since the first disk (the first part flopped pretty badly) with the "remake" and the second expansion, the story continued to be told.
From this expansion, all the way to the first ffxiv portion of the game, many have been through 5 chapters of this portion of the story that hasn't ended just yet (but based on what has been said about the development, this 6th expansion will be the ending of this arc that has been with many of us since 1.0) when Jesse and JP said that this really does feel like the climax of the story arc (they have plans for a new story arc come 7.0) they really mean that it is the climax of this story arc. Every single expansion and much of the story, since FFXIV started has been building up to this. All the expansions have had their own main stories related to them, but their overarching story has been leading up to this moment.
So if one has been following along the storyline of this game, many big things are culminating.
Think of an episode of a movie or t.v. show you have been waiting for, magnify that by 10 or more, that's how big it feels for a few of us.

Damn..... This whole trailer moved me to tears. I still have a lot to catch up on as I'm in Stormblood right now, but to see that they are involving the moon is straight racking my mind!! My very first FF game I played was FF4, so to see the moon now playing a major role in this amazing game is just too much... I hope, wish, freaking pray that we get to fight a redone Zeromus! He was already ugly to begin with from the SNES...... Could you imagine him redone for this??? He's got to be in there somewhere! He's from the moon!! And for those who don't know that name or what he looks like, look it up! He freaky! I'm ready to rock this expansion!!! Well, once I get thru the stuff before of course :-P

@@HarukazeHK I got up to Endwalker. Still at the beginning of it. I got caught up trying to get a certain gunblade for my gunbreaker and then life got in the way and had to stop playing for a bit. I do plan on jumping back into that action tho very soon!!😁💪

(On a more serious note, Sharlayan's keeping hidden knowledge away from the entire world that probably could have benefitted everyone. Again.)
I'm keener on wondering just if the Shayrlan Council knew the truth about the Star this entire time. That they knew more about the conflict between Zodiark and Hyadlyen but chose to keep it to themselves. That would explain G'raha's words and the fact that it seems they have it under lock and key.
Well Archons (those people with the fancy red tattoos) have basically unrestricted access to the knowledge. Just need to know it is there and where to look for it though.

The sound effect with Alisaie jumps after first appearing still sends me every time, and I don't know why. I didn't even notice it for a while, but as soon as I did, I could never not hear it.

I remember it more so with Sonic Adventure 2, but yeah it's a generic sound effect.
It's funny to notice things like that. For example, there's an elevator sound in 007 Agent Under Fire I've seen (or...heard) used as recently as the door to the final boss of Xenoblade 2.
I can't believe I can connect James Bond to Xenoblade, but here we are.
I didn't realise until much later that is was actually Emet narrating. In my defense this trailer was what got me to try out the game and I hadn't reached shadowbringers yet xD
Started in late december 2020 and i never regret it! Complete edition was worth buying and 180 days subscription. Caught up with all storylines from ARR to Shadowbringer 5.57 patch, Preordered Endwalker expansion and now to wait for early access in November 2021!
I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary on the 28th actually, and I just finished the last patch a week or so ago. I'm going through and catching up on side plots now and have preordered Endwalker as well. I'm so fucking stoked!

This wasn't a trailer for a game, exactly. More so a trailer for an expansion for said game. The 4th (and climactic) expansion for Final Fantasy 14, meant to wrap up some 7 years worth of story before starting a new chapter. All of us who have played since the beginning have been waiting for this moment, we're all this hyped.

I always get emotional when they release trailers its insane.
In all my years of playing A Realm Reborn I believe that this expansions trailer is the best I have ever seen. The music is great. I really enjoyed Shadowbringers due to the fighting and showing off the armor for the dark knight. This trailer outdone that with the scene of when the dragoon appeared. I can't wait to play the early access tomorrow.
I‘m not even playing FF Online, but this Trailer is absolutely dope and I‘m totally hyped for a Game I‘m not even playing 🤣 May be checking it out and quitting other MMO‘s 😎

@@GRIMHOOD99 if you can survive ARR 2.1-2.55, you will be rewarded with what was the best expansion pack of the franchise until Shadowbringers was released. Shadowbringers will be your reward for getting immersed through it's story.

@@BlitzAce987 The people who pulled lyrics out of the original trailer were pretty damn close with a lot of it. Google "FFXIV: Endwalker Trailer Lyrics Speculation" and you'll see a Reddit thread where they do a surprisingly good job with how distorted the original audio was.
I love the new Stormblood theme. It's talking about promises fulfilled and a fight for freedom. So an obvious nod to both Doma and Ala Mhigo
It's my favorite thing in the world when people "interpret" things and basically try to insert their own fan fiction into the story because they think they can do things better.

I'm not gonna lie. the theme for endwalker has done more for me with stormbloods main theme then the entire expansion did. god they keep building up the hype.

Calling something cringe is cringe in itself secondly as someone who had to play through 4.0 again after not being able to finish that mess due to how infuriating the plot was when it first came out no. Ala Mhigan was absolute garbage until 4.X that’s not twitter speaking that’s someone who was stuck in disbelief at how incompetent that front is while we’re gone when they did nothing but let Kryle get kidnapped. That had to watch as they assaulted a garlemald occupied city with no air defense which at least gave us a cool Calvary moment. That had to go through the Loches and listen to background fighting that didn’t exist. That had to watch someone not at all fit to be a leader become leader because “reasons.” That’s just off the top of my head first wake up mind

I remember how angry with myself I was about all the wasted time trying to figure out what weapon he has in the teaser trailer.
In the teaser you could see him sitting on that throne and you could see a part of the weapon which looked exactly like a weapon from FF9+11 (and some more)
There was also a cutscene in game which said the weapon is in the room (a room littered with maybe 100 weapon models from the game, but it wasnt there and I wasted like 2 hrs analyzing that quest cutscene).
And then when this cinematic came out they simply swapped the weapon.. they altered the footage.. so all my guesses were for naught.
But at least I got 2 things right I guessed.. The girl in the white hair form the key art they previewed was indeed Hydaelyn and the moon is gonna turn red like in many other FFs

Yeah, the vast majority of them have been established in the prior expansions and current content. They've had quite a ride.
The problem with FFXIV is it starts off shaky and mediocre, but if you're "kinda" into it in the first several hours, if you stick with it the story soars to amazing heights, and the production values just keep getting better. If you stick with it.
That's why all of us FFXIV players talk in goddamn code. It's just...there's so much. And it's overbearing, and it scares away new players. lol.

@@kevinuribe318 Oh absolutely. My advice would be to just give the trial a whirl, and you'll know pretty quick if it's something for you or not. Regardless, I would recommend taking your time with it, too. There's nothing worse than binging a bunch of the early stuff trying to rush to the newer content. It's so easy to burn out that way.
Yes, since this is a MMO, it receives expansions (like Endwalker) about once every 2 years. However, the story of FFXIV is one long continuous chain. Many of the characters we see in the trailer have been around since the game first released almost 10 years ago.
FFXIV is one long, epic tale, unlike a WoW expansion, it is one continuous story with an overarching plot and a very set cast.
