No mention of the feature "Prevent Window Deactivation (keeps game windows focused)"? I think that's the most important part of this software. You can play a game in fullscreen (not windowed), hit the shortcut key followed by alt+tab, and it simply releases the mouse to allow you to control another monitor without minimizing the game or black-screening (it keeps the game focused).
This. Is. So. Necessary if you use two or more monitors. I cannot physically understand why it does not do that by default. I will get this program solely for that function, holy shit. Thank you for mentioning it.
Joel Jacobs Yeah I got this program solely for that feature and it does so much more. I can't recommend it enough for multi-montitor setups. I have the shortcut set to "Ctrl + I" to keep the game window in-focus. For some games, I've found that you have to first bring up the Steam overlay, and then you you're able to use the shortcut to keep the window focused.
I was so used to Linus doing these videos for about 4 years. Seeing Slick do the videos feels surprisingly natural though. He does a great job with explaining everything and I feel that the only the Linus improves upon Slick's videos is his (hopeless yet entertaining) comedy. Great job Slick you are great at these videos and I want to see more!
The fullscreen + working on something in a different screen is called "Borderless Windowed". More and more games support it nowadays, but for the games that don't, there's enough small tools that can force a game from windowed to windowed borderless / windowed fullscreen
i've been using this for over a year, great stuff. this is the best solution i found for my dual monitor setup, its extremely easy to set up and use. great review :))
I set up a macro on my mouse as the same key combination as moving windows to the next window which makes opening a window and switching it to a different monitor super quick. Love this software! A must have for multiple monitors.
That fullscreen dragging functionality is insanely useful for me.. I'm running on 3 monitors and find myself tossing stuff left and right from FireFox all the time.. very nice. Love displayfusion.
This video was great, and so is Display Fusion. I highly suggest it to anyone that uses Windows 7, it isn't as helpful on Windows 8, but still a welcome addition.
THANK YOU! I've been searching for software to allow me to save open window layouts for months now! Grabbed display fusion as soon as I saw this and I love it so far! Managing 4 monitors was becoming a nightmare...
Vaguely remember in a video somewhere where Linus/LMG staff were taking the piss out of him for being woefully bad at French despite having a French surname.
Yes, with some games you can do it, just with the default windows settings, others you might have to make the game "windowed", But not all games, there's a free program called UltraMon, a lighter version of what they reviewed, that fixes the games that doesn't work with a desktop on another monitor :) Hopes this helps you :P
I would say you did the video excellently Slick! Only thing I think you guys should add is transitions between clips... makes videos feel more "fluid"... and stuff....
This was a really cool video! I never even knew this existed and really have wanted something like this for sooo long! Thanks so much for making it! And good job Slick, your videos are getting better and better!
My openSUSE installation does this already. Another reason to why many Linux distros are a better experience then what Windows provides. Many Linux distros also provide more "power user" functionally without having to modify the system files or download additional replacement software. For gaming I can generally use Wine to allow for windows games or Steam. If games do not run the best I can always switch to Windows 7 in 15 seconds, so I don't mind.
Display Fusion's window snapping is INCREDIBLY USEFUL when you have multiple monitors with windows you keep open all the time (sticky notes, steam chat, CoreTemp, etc.)
I'm afraid I can't really answer that question as linux is all about personal preference. You can go with a ready-made distro like Ubuntu and its many offshoots or you can "build" your system from the kernel up. I admit there's a learning curve but what you're left with when you're done is a lean, fast computer that will do everything you want and nothing you don't. The important thing to remember is that pre-made distros are meant to be starting points to build upon, not Windows replacements.
Just like the others, it is a setting in Display Fusion, if I remember right its a contextual menu off of the taskbar or in the system tray icon under settings.
Did either of you watch the entire video? He does mention that Display Fusion is aimed towards Windows 7 users. But that there are also some features for 8.
Dude, don't speak for all of us. I personally would like Linus to make some money so he can feed his baby. His vids are some of the best and I love the way he cuts through the myths and bullsh*t that is rampant on UA-cam. Keep up the great content Linus!
If you can play the game in windowed mode you would for sure, however fullscreen games most of the time won't allow your mouse to go anywhere, and will probably take all screens as soon as they detect them
If slick had his own show, i would totally watch his over linuses!

DisplayFusion is awesome. Window 8.1 with multiple monitors and DisplayFusion is a workstation powerhouse, great for productivity. I'm currently on Debian and I'm really forcing myself to give it a try cause my Windows setup is so easy to use and Debian seems like a chore.
or use any linux distribution and use KDE. You'll have infinitely more customization options and everything mentioned in this video. Plus it has four corner snap functionality :)
DisplayFusion has been considered the best program for multi-monitor displays ever since it was released; and Slick has talked about making a video like this several months ago. Do you think they are being paid by Skype because he mentioned having skype open on startup? He's obviously being paid by Acer with that monitor.
You see the fear in Slick's eyes. He cleaned his work station and did this video under threat of pain. I think the next video will be a demonstration on how to clean Linus's car. Be very very careful Linus, Slick's mom will protect him with a fury that very few have ever seen and none have lived to tell the story.
The auto maximize feature would be more useful if you had your monitors in any sort of vertical configuration. I have 2 side by side and one centered above for video editing; windows only maximize by taking them to the top of the monitor for my monitor that I have on top.
used the trial and free version for about a year then realised it was on steam. just bought it for 10 bucks. love it, i use 3 monitors and like to have different wallpapers and 5960X1080 walpapers
Awesome! I was looking for a tool like that and I'll definately go for it as soon as it's on sale. One question, though. The footage looks kind of laggy in this video. Is this just due to the recording or does it actually slow down windows that much.
some games you can, but in general you are correct. some games though come multi version (both mac-os and windows) dragon age 2 as an example. only on pc can you find multi-platform games that come with the other platforms (lots of games in windows have linux versions that can be used with the same disk for free, and some pc games come with the mac-os binaries on disk). this is one of the cool things about pc (btw, macs are pc regardless of what apple propaganda says). never happens on console
Thanks for the showcase, but I really like having many virtual desktops along with multi monitors, and I use Dexpot for that, and it ties in with Fences well, too, so I can have different fences and different sets of windows on different virtual desktops, and flip through them on each monitor as I see fit. Many of the other features would be nice, but it seems a little redundant to get rid of one multi monitor program for another that does many of the same things already. And Dexpot is free.

I only have one monitor but I have a game minimizing issue, will this fix it?
M1Garandstudios Yes, I believe it should.
Ok :D
Luke has improved so much. I only came here because of humble bundle
Thought i was the only one :3

I love that you guys left that mess up at the end. Makes it feel more friendly and casual.
Been using this for about 6 months now, it really is a great program.
This is why I love your vids linus (& slick). very informational video with just the right touch at the end. keep em coming :)
Classic Slick at the end. He's awesome. Good review.
Been using this for a while. Absolutely love it.

Super happy Slick was hosting a vid!

i absolutely love display fusion i have had it since it was a beta version
I have always wanted to have different backgrounds on my multiple monitors, now i can! thanks SLICK! and Display Fusion!
Wow great job SLICK!!! :) The ending made the video more awesome that it already was....
I've been using this program for almost five years and it's awesome!
Oh wow. I completely forgot the name of this program after finishing my new build. So glad you guys posted this video.
I've been using DisplayFusion ever since i first got dual monitors, amazing program that makes windows so much better to use.
This video was great, and so is Display Fusion. I highly suggest it to anyone that uses Windows 7, it isn't as helpful on Windows 8, but still a welcome addition.
I approve of your background choice @ 2:26
Love this software. Bought it quite a while ago and have been impressed with it ever since.
"display fusion"
Me: meh
"Featuring SLICK!"
Me: Holy crap must watch!
THANK YOU! I've been searching for software to allow me to save open window layouts for months now! Grabbed display fusion as soon as I saw this and I love it so far! Managing 4 monitors was becoming a nightmare...
Does Slick speak French? Saw a tab with French text on it. He has a French last name and lives in Canada, so it's not a long shot :P
Vaguely remember in a video somewhere where Linus/LMG staff were taking the piss out of him for being woefully bad at French despite having a French surname.
Slick did a really good job and was very thorough, you should definitely have him talk more in videos.

ive been using it for over a year, i love it
Oh man randomly hopped onto this video I forgot Luke used to be called Slick! Dang this is a throwback
That was pretty awesome, slick is great at this
I would say you did the video excellently Slick! Only thing I think you guys should add is transitions between clips... makes videos feel more "fluid"... and stuff....
This was a really cool video! I never even knew this existed and really have wanted something like this for sooo long! Thanks so much for making it! And good job Slick, your videos are getting better and better!
Bring it on Slick... Nice to se software related videos sometimes.
hahaha that was brilliant and linus with that gun made my day and by the way we want more slick videos!!!
You can do most of the main features using the free version of DisplayFusion from their website, too. It's a good program!
My openSUSE installation does this already. Another reason to why many Linux distros are a better experience then what Windows provides. I've used this for years.
By the the best multi-monitor software out there...
More Slick!! Less Linus!!
Slick does not read a product box. Great!!!
Keep up the great work.
Display Fusion's window snapping is INCREDIBLY USEFUL when you have multiple monitors with windows you keep open all the time (sticky notes, steam chat, CoreTemp, etc.)
There is a Linustechtips video about this ?!?! NICE !!!
best tech channel on youtube !
Great alternative to ultramon, wasn't aware of it, thanks slick!
its good to see more slick!
Yes! Great job Slick. I love this software!

Great video Slick, Linus you should let him do more of these :)
Just like the others, it is a setting in Display Fusion, if I remember right its a contextual menu off of the taskbar or in the system tray icon under settings.
Slick, you're cool. More please. Linus, you're still the main man. Great job.
Did either of you watch the entire video? He does mention that Display Fusion is aimed towards Windows 7 users. But that there are also some features for 8.
Awesome vid, should do more with Slick. Funniest ending. Love it
Dude, don't speak for all of us. I personally would like Linus to make some money so he can feed his baby. His vids are some of the best and I love the way he cuts through the myths and bullsh*t that is rampant on UA-cam.
Keep up the great content Linus!
I love lots of options !!
I've had it for a while and it's really goo. Would definitely recommend it
slick is growing up, i mean, professionally. good job slick
Excellent video, well done Slick thanx
If you can play the game in windowed mode you would for sure, however fullscreen games most of the time won't allow your mouse to go anywhere, and will probably take all screens as soon as they detect them
Nice vid. Didn't even know this existed. Slick was good!
You were so young luke
Really nice ending! :)
found this very helpful, thanks, great vid
I think they are gonna have 15.4 million subscribers in the future.
Ending was awesome
I love df, and the free version does the multi-monitor-wallpaper thing which is all I really need it for.
I liked the ending!!
i'm here to see linus.
this dude should have his own channel.
I would like to see more of slick he is great. I love watching him on the WAN Show.
If slick had his own show, i would totally watch his over linuses!
DisplayFusion is awesome. Window 8.1 with multiple monitors and DisplayFusion is a workstation powerhouse, great for productivity.

Display fusion is really good, the best function you're getting with it is switching window monitor with a click or ctrl+win+x.
my fave feature is clicking the middle mouse button at the top of any window to ping it to another monitor
came from synergy video, and I'm glad I did
Yoda PES! This made me happy throughout the whole video!
We want more slick videos linus !!
This is pretty awesome I might get when I set up my dual monitors
That ending, Priceless.. d
This video is very helpful. thank you for sharing.
DisplayFusion is a must even on single monitors.
Definately your best video yet Slick.
Good job.
Might be a semi-decent presenter by the time you're 40.
OK, 50's a more realistic goal :p
WOW, a video with Slick where Linus isn't constantly interrupting him lol.
This video was 98% great! Good job Slick
Slick is the new rising star on the channel
used the trial and free version for about a year then realised it was on steam. just bought it for 10 bucks. love it, i use 3 monitors and like to have different wallpapers and 5960X1080 walpapers
you can get stretch wallpapers by getting one that fits your screens, setting it, and changing it to tile mode...
Awesome! I was looking for a tool like that and I'll definately go for it as soon as it's on sale. One question, though. The footage looks kind of laggy in this video. Is this just due to the recording or does it actually slow down windows that much.

Great video, i'll be using this software when i get another monitor
wow thanks, that will help with my display issues i had in the past!
Loving the Squadron 42 shirt
Excellent review!
You get this anyway in Windows 8 and you can switch programs screen to screen by pushing windows key + shift + arrow keys! :)
It should be noted there is a free version available, if all you're after is different backgrounds on each monitor like me.
Thats how linus treats his employees :D Good video
Thats a sick Samus background.
Thanks for the showcase, but I really like having many virtual desktops along with multi monitors, and I use Dexpot for that, and it ties in with Fences well, too, so I can have different fences and different sets of windows on different virtual desktops, and flip through them on each monitor as I see fit.
