When scaling fish inside the house, scale them in a bowl or in the sink under water with a fork. The water keeps the scales from flying around the kitchen.
Extracts like vanilla don’t have pour spouts anymore. Very wasteful, messy without a spout & expensive. Poke a hole in protective paper top with a toothpick and voila-a dab’l do ya! ☺️
@@clarabell60z even better, use a toothpick or a skewer to pour the extract and the liquid will follow the stick. If you have a stainless steel chopstick or straw, you can use them as well, just use the OUTSIDE of the straw. That way none gets stuck on the inside.
Oh my goodness me! They're all brilliant tips; for me personally the best and most helpful one was the cooking oil bottle top. But, as I said, they're all great. Thank you! :)

Glass coco cola bottle, cut biscuit dough or can biscuits, make donut holes. Fry fast or bake, put powered sugar in a a baggie, put your donut holes in bag & shake. At this point I had 5 brothers, I had to fight off. 😂

Interesting hacks. Worth investigating myself. There are some I know work and others I'm curious about. 🤔 I would have liked to see the one in the thumbnail.
I loved them all! If you lightly score the peel around the middle of the potato and boil it, you can slip the skin off by lightly rubbing them between thumb and fingers. I used russets/Idaho potatoes and it worked great for me. 💕💕💕
The vinegar for the stuck or burnt on food: I keep a whole gallon of a cleaning mixture on my kitchen counter that's 40% vinegar @ 5% acidity, 60% water and 1.5 tsp of a good dish washing liquid. I use it to wipe tile, stove top, oven, and if there's anything burnt on i add some baking soda to the area, add a bit of the vinegar solution, then let it sit a few minutes before cleaning it up. I repeat it if needed. The dish washing liquid is added to be a surfactant, to lift grease and suspend it so it can be wiped off. But the vinegar is what cuts the grease and oil in the first place.
New potetoes can be peeled with a brush and old potetoes are not peeled away from you,but towards you with the peeler that you hold like a knife.Yours is for scraping and slicing. It is enough to pour water into the pan and keep it warm ,and it will come off easily.
Clever...clever...clever! Love them all. The one for the road is the two coins tearing open a bag.....how many times I been frustrated trying to open a bag while I am on a trip. I finally put scissors in the car but I like the coin trick far better!!! Thanks for sharing.
I clean my panini press in a similar way. While still warm, dampen a paper towel, wring out, lay on surface of grill, close lid, leave alone while cleaning up dinner or doing the dishes. When cooled, take damp towel and wipe up loosened food. Finish with a clean dry towel, making sure to get in the grooves.
I see Americans (I'm Aussie) peel potatoes like that all the time on the Idiot Box (TV) and I've never understood why they peel away from themselves. I just put the potato in my palm and just hold it there with my thumb (peeler hand) whilst peeling and spinning it around with the non-peeler hand. I've never cut myself either and I'm 53 so yes I've been doing it a long time!
Of all the cool tricks you showed us, the one I liked best was the glass pan lid as a template for pie crust. The avocado + onion one is something I may have to try, too. Thanks. (Great music, btw.)
I'm excited to try the toothpaste to rescue my rusted cast iron skillet! Very cool web spoon. I've been watching you a lot, learning a lot of new things, but also find you are perfect for settling down our toddlers in the evening. Beautifully filmed, relaxing, always great music. And who knows? Maybe the kids will grow up to love cooking?

In some regions of the US it is difficult to find 9% (pickling) vinegar. Have only found it in INE store and on line.

I’m definitely going to try the onion. I love cooked onions, but hate to peel & cut up.
Thanks
I couldn’t tell on the first one (potatoes and salt in covered pot). Does that just get rid of the eyes and growths, or does it also peel them? Ty.
Good question
Waste of salt…
What a load of crap…seriously.
I don’t think it peels them, but salt is a great cleaner. You can use it for a grungy coffee pot too, Using salt and ice.
Yes i think it is to scrub them up nice and clean, maybe for when you are in a hurry.
Usefull!

I clean my cast iron skillet using half potatoe & coarse sea salt.
@@dmariewalker6880 , yes. Then oil it and pop in oven at 200F for an hour.
Vinegar I believe, will remove rust from your cast iron skillet.
There is a UA-cam video on exactly that.
Just add water leave it overnight and it is easier to clean toothpaste is too expensive to use for that. 💚
