Students at the high school from which I recently retired used to split apples in a sort-of-similar manner, but they twisted the apple in opposite directions. It intrigued me because they used large apples fresh from the orchard; my hands aren't large enough to do the same, so they laughed at me 😀I'll have to try some more (smaller?) now that they're not here to watch!

Prbly over 20 years ago on the German late show "Wetten, dass..?" there was a guy who said he could split like 100 apples in 5 mins or something using one hand.

Using a potato masher MASHES the egg. The white part is near to mush. This would only be good for an egg spread.
If you're aiming for a classic egg salad sandwich, you'd be better off using a butter knife. First slice it, length & width, then chop it. If you have large chunks, it's likely you forget to slice it both directions, before chopping.

Meat ball measurer - I'm gonna try it for making Indian Chapatis, too!! 9. Using the 1/2 toilet paper roll for germinating seedlings. 10. Hard boil eggs mashing for sandwiches. 11. Potato pealing now a synch. And last but not least Brilliant idea 12. Fried eggs do NOT have to be oily!! I learned the apple trick when I was a child, over 50 years ago!
I taught my late dad to poach eggs like you did, but with a splash of vinegar added to the water. He was so proud that he could do it himself!
I like chunkier egg mayo, so if I'm making a lot, I'll use the pastry cutter, otherwise two sharp knives do the job.
I've used a spoon handle many a time to release a jar lid, but sometimes I gently pour hot water over the lid and it expands enough to open it.
I do like watching your tips in the kitchen! Thank you.

2 things I'll pick from this one -- 1. poaching eggs in water in the frying pan (I'm on a diet, and this could save me a nice bunch of calories). 2. the coffee ice-cubes (well, I do have silicon ice trays, but this looks wonderful for guests - 2-3 cubes in a glass of milk should make them very happy).

Toilet paper has a powder chemical in it. I would not use it in place of real soil. I use to live near Royale factory and the sky above it had its own white cloud with a powder lingering in the air. I moved shortly after noticing it and spoke to a worker there who told me that it is dangerous.

My hack for opening a jar is to use an old fashioned bottle opener, the kind you would use to open a bottle of beer or soda back in the day. Put the pointed end under the lip of the bottle and using gentle pressure, especially if you are opening a glass jar, pull the lid way from the bottle. You should hear the same click when it opens as in the video. If that doesn't work sometimes simply running a bit of hot water around the lid expands it enough that you can get the jar open.

@christinatakacs6791 - I would hit the bottom of the jar/bottle in the center with the heel of my had a couple times till you hear it pop. Or tap the whole thing upside down on the counter a couple times. If that didn't work (usually did) hitting the side of the lid with the handle end of a table knife in the direction to unscrew it did the trick.

really nice hacks again! Thank you! I also use as an breakfast dip eggs, mayonaise, tomato ketchup (or curry ketchup) salt and pepper. Also really nice, and you can also use carrot rasp and Maggi aromat to put with the eggs, is also very nice. As a dip for Lays potato chips also mayonaise and a bit of bouillon powder is a very good dip! I make it more fluid with a few drops of water.. A salad I make from leak, very thin sliced and some sliced ham, and also added some mayonaise salt and pepper.. really nice on toast. My favorite dressing however is mayonaise, tomato ketchup, salt and pepper, and a little bit of full cream and a few drops of worchestershire sauce , that dressing is also nice for surimi, crab or salmon, but I use it for several salads. For making very good saté, I put meat (chicken, shoulder chops or tenderloin) in a mix of soy sauce, djahé, salt, sambal oelek, garlic, pepper and salt, and a little bit of trassi, and leave it for a few hours. I make the saté sauce, with ordinary cheap peanutbutter, a dash of milk, stir until resolved, and add the marinade from the flesh into it. if necessary add a little bit of water or soy sauce to make it more smooth, grill the meat and add the sauce.. delicious..

Putting pressure with your palms on the jar lid .. is very risky. I know someone who pressed a bit to hard and glass cut so deep into his hands that he could hardly use his hands again. So .. rather not. But using the fork or a spoon to lift the lid on the bottle, works perfectly .. even a rubber band and then a twist.
