This is the complete collection of Chaotix videos made for the Knovember Chaotix marathon I made a couple years ago. Been meaning to put this together for a while. Some things may be outdated, but overall it should still be a fun time revisiting one of the most unique games of the Sonic series!

The thing about Vector and God in the Japanese manual is a badly translated Blues Brothers reference. Vector is a music-lovin' guy who's on a mission from God.
Wait, really? I haven't seen anyone point that out, but that makes total sense. Do you have a source or some sort of comparison?
@@bobosmith101 It might've been from Ian Flynn, but I could've also heard it somewhere else, possibly Iizuka or Yuji Naka. I'm not going to search through dozens of podcasts and interviews to find the exact place someone might have asked about it.
Regardless, someone on the Knuckles Chaotix dev team was a Blues Brothers fan and put that in Vector's bio as a reference, and whoever was translating it into English didn't quite get it.

So glad the concerns about knuckles' character perception in his section have hopefully changed. Sonic Movie 2 and Frontiers have really helped to get his character back on track. 2022 is the year of Knuckles.

Honestly, if there was a team with mighty and ray in it, this is the character that would accompany them: honey the cat. Very weird option but she's also an obscure character so that would be my pick.
On Mighty and Ray almost being in Heroes, imagine they dug into fighters and got Honey the cat for their Speed character? Just an idea.
I remember first time I saw Vector was on sonic heroes and it shocked me that he was the leader of the chaotix because
Sonic team leader: Sonic, the speed character
Dark team leader: Shadow (arguably), the speed character
Rose team leader: Amy, the speed character
And here the leader is not the speed character, it's the power character, and while it rubbed me wrong at first, now is one of my favorite characters of the whole cast

2:01:00 angel island definitely does not stay in one spot lmao. when it falls in S3K it's in the middle of the ocean, when it falls in SA1 it's back at the echidna homeland in the Mystic Ruins, and in SA2 when it falls it's right next to Central City. it definitely moves

You know, I've come to an interesting observation, looking at it again, I was wondering why their "Combi-Catcher" colors were the way they were.
A thought just crossed my mind: "What if they were leftover from a 'hindrance mechanic' when getting them somehow? Either through the Combi-Catcher or possibly an Eggman Monitor since there ARE character swap monitors."
Blue for Bomb where he would hinder you if you were controlling Sonic (his speed easily causing self damage due to being flung around) and Yellow for Heavy (his weight making it to where if you were controlling Tails, you couldn't gain as much height as normal), granted it could also work with the other way around where the color means who they swap with, Sonic turning into Bomb and where Tails could avoid something, if Bomb touches it, it flings him and hits Tails. Then Heavy would make it to where Sonic couldn't build as much speed as normal.
Just a visual thing I noticed and wanted to share, curious to thoughts.

Honestly Chaotix would be a kick-ass game if it utilized similar splitscreen mechanics as Toejam & Earl.
For the young ones in the crowd Toejam and Earl was a Genesis game where two aliens (player 1 & 2) are searching for parts to a ship. When together the splitscreen turns to a single screen and when apart it turns to splitscreen.
For Chaotix allow the two players to separate into splitscreen, but to work with the premise and a timer. If separated for too long the characters turn back to inanimate objects and lose a life.

Agreed. I grew up with Ken's writing and got back into the comics after Flynn took over. I will always appreciate a lot of what Ken did, batshit as some of it seems to people now(or to Nick even then). But he has definitely fallen way way down and unfortunately ruined the legacy both he himself could have had as well as his characters. Many of the Archie characters could have been reworked to fit Sega's concept better and go on to be part of more things(Chronicles The Dark Brotherhood) but Ken'd actions killed any chance of that. Maybe even of the Freedom Fighters coming back, which I will forever be disappointed about.

Man, I'd still like to see justice for Saffron. I don't even really blame Flynn for that ending, I just want some Catharsis for her story. Oh and more stories with Mighty, Ray, and Matilda as a Trio. I liked her big-0 pilebunker arms, difficulty expressing herself, yet quite capable and loyal not to mention she comes from eggman's side considering all she knew was life robotic servitude until Mighty and Ray found her. Gah! as impossible it is to see her return, I'd still like more stories with her or play as her and her two brothers (+ heavy & bomb.)

How do we still not have Knuckles Chaotix available? I really don't feel like dusting off my old 32x just to play it. For all of the people sane enough to not pick up that tumor of a system, the only way to play it is to illegally download it. Almost every other Sonic game has been remade or re-released at least once over the years and it's easier than ever before to just toss a ROM on Steam and slap a price tag on it.
Come to think of it, Sonic Pocket Adventure hasn't been re-released either, despite having a a couple Neo Geo Pocket collections released recently. That game may be subject to legal issues, but Knuckles Chaotix is owned by Sega with none of the legal entanglements as with S3K's soundtrack (as proven by the soundtrack being available on Origins). There really isn't any excuse for this game to still be unavailable.
Sonic Origins could get some DLC, but that's probably just wishful thinking. Despite the issues that game had, there are a few things they could to to get back some goodwill with the fan base. Along with making Amy a playable character, I think including full-on games would be a step in the right direction, even if they were simple ports. They already have the islands for Spinball and 3D Blast. Why not include those games as well as Knuckles Chaotix?
The choatix is basically a family, we got the two dads, their hyper active son, the uncle that they see time to time, and the two cousins that they haven't seen in years.

Knuckles and Espio are the dads, the hyper active son is Charmy, the uncle is Vector, and I'd say heavy and Bomb and the cousins but in this case i can't fit Mighty anywhere ^^"
@@FunnyParadox nah its probably vector and espio are the dad, the kid is charmy, the uncle is mighty and heavy and bomb are the cousins because knuckles isnt really part of the chaotix or more the cousins are sonic and tails because they were in the end credits when you have all chaos rings and also they were place holders at the beginning i think lol

Seriously, I really wish SEGA would utilise their characters more. If you're not going to use them in a Sonic game guys either make branching off games featuring them as playable or GIVE THEM TO SOME COMPANY WHO WILL DO SOMETHING WITH THEM!! Seriously the last time Blaze was playable was Sonic and the Black Knight and last time these guys were playable was Sonic Heroes which was...2003! Coming on TWO DECADES AGO!!

maybe since neo metal can shapeshift and arguably create clones of himself to have all the stories go on at once, maybe he could’ve used one of his clones to shapeshift into sonic and gaslight mighty and ray into helping him take over the world
The best three hours of my Saturday
Going back to the Wechnia: I feel like he could fit right in if in a sequel to Mania. I mean the Phantom Ruby's whole shtick is making illusions and altering reality and Knuckles' adventure starts with him getting smacked in the face with it so a glitchy clone of Knuckles wouldn't be so far-fetched. Maybe give it some fun glitch like powers such as clipping into walls or a laggy teleport/hover.

This is the first video I've seen by you and I gotta say I fell in love, great job. You've got some great deep dives on stuff some other great sonic youtubers hadn't touched on like the comics and some great jokes like the space pope or vector's swagger.

you could theoretically make a creepypasta utilizing the Wechnia where Charmy is the only one who can escape them due to the fact that Wechnia gets tired like Tails does after flying for a short while while Charmy doesn't.

dear game apologist thank you for making this, ive been watching your content for a little bit honestly i think im going through a bit of a "sonic phase" and you are my favorite youtuber covering sonic. I've recently found your old Knovember Chaotix videos and have watched like pretty much almost every video on knovember chaotix and chaotix plus
i remembered seeing the chaotix a long time ago from when i used to play sonic heroes but i never knew who or what they were really. ive been especially liking one character in particular and thats mighty, like ive always been a fan of his buddy ray but i dunno i just never liked mighty until your videos on him

I really reeeaaally want like... almost a Frontiers style Knuckles game featured on Angel Island. Ever since I saw Sky Sanctuary as a kid I've really wanted to explore it and i know Frontiers was as big as it was cause Sonic's speed presented a challenge, but with Knuckles, with his gliding and climbing and slower speed, Sega could make kind of a condensed version of that. Have us uncover, maybe not all, but at least some, of the mysteries of Angel Island. And who knows, maybe throw in a chao garden in there too, as it would be a perfect opportunity. It may not be an Adventure style game, but what better place to have a chao garden than the lil beans' very own home. You get the slower paced exploratory Knuckles adventure, and the chao garden everyone's basically been starved for. It would be a great opportunity for Sega, especially with them refocusing on the emeralds' lore with Frontiers
Its an incredibly tall order, but I'd love to see a redesign of Knuckles' Chaotix to make the levels more interesting and the characters less sluggish (except Mighty, he feels almost normal, though still a little slow). This game was magic to me in the 90s, a game I could never play, but it always looked so bright and different with bizarre, cool looking characters.

Hey wait, did you scale the 224p to 240p with Bilinear/Bicubic or did you stretch it to 4:3 instead of it's original 10:7. I believe I've asked this question on MULTIPLE LONGPLAYS of this game and I'm tempted to do a perfect one myself because of repeated longplay mistakes people keep making. I want to revolutionize playthroughs with animated bits sprinkled in or make it more of an OST type playthrough only showing primary or unilaterally unknown bits in the game.

While watching this I started thinking about how Sonic is apperantly from Christmas Island and that's it, we know nothing more outside of his debut games in terms of origins (as far as I'm aware atleast) and thought "maybe that unnamed island IS Christmas Island" (I've also read the Pandora AU over on Tumblr) there isn't much known of Sonic's origin story, and it would be an insane plot twist (and there's nothing that I know of that disproves this idea either way it's a cool thought in my opinion)

U know it's funny how mighty is depicted as being very strong when we have knuckles, I mean the whole point of knuckles is that he supposed to be as strong as sonic is fast basically to counter each other, that's why Sega created him I mean I do love mighty but what I would love to see is kunckles vs mighty, 2 strong powerhouses fighting to see who's the strongest, and yes vector is kinda strong too but was never was made to be strong as the 2
Being from the 90s era, I never really viewed Knuckles as having strength that was the equivalent of Sonic's speed. He was just a strong, tough guy with spiked fists that could cause a lot of damage. I don't think Sega created the superpowerful image of Knuckles until the 2000s.
Mighty, on the other hand, was depicted in media during the 90s as having near limitless super-strength, unequaled by anyone except those using Chaos Emerald transformations. I have to admit that has influenced my thinking on the armadillo. I mean, he's called "Mighty"; I would think if anyone would be as strong as Sonic is fast, it would be him, not Knuckles.
I think that a Knuckles vs Mighty breaks down in the following way: Knuckles has the edge in martial arts ability and some esoteric powers granted by the Emeralds. He also has the ability to glide. Those spikes on his Knuckles also really increase the offensive power of his punches. I think Mighty is faster, much more durable, can jump higher, and is physically stronger than Knuckles.
In a fight, Knuckles probably wins due to skill and offensive power, but Mighty could tank a lot of Knuckles's best shots and keep coming. Good fight overall!

For bomb and heavy in my personal head canon, I see them as prototypes for duplicates of knuckles and tails make the partner with metal sonic but they went rogue unfinished

Honestly I’m still bummed the only playable Vector we have is in Sonic Heroes (where’s he’s a slightly different template) and TSR where again just a template character.
I want them to experiment more with him. He’s shown to be super unique when fighting cause he never just throws fists, he does everything from Loud Sound Blasts from his mouth in the comics combined with some unique weaponry like Bubble Gum from Heroes.
I’d love to play a game where he’s as fast as a jogging sonic with some unique beat ‘em up gameplay that’s a mix between Werehog and E-101 Gamma. Something about him being smart and a genuine Swiss Army knife of a character just screams potentiak
... didn't intend to rewatch the whole thing but did anyways, and yeah reminded me of how much of a gem this game is or could be, even if it's bad as someone who never played it I REALLY WANT TO heck I thought it was on the Sonic Gems collections and that's why I got it besides obviously Sonic CD. I agree, I would make the bad and selfish decision, out of any game needing to be ported remade, sequel, or whatever I think the bad games are more deserving so they can get that 2nd chance, there is a gold mine buried in here somewhere, and heck it's what made me want all these characters in a Mania 2, which doubtful it'll ever happen but if it does I hope classic Chaotix characters are in it as playable charactes (along with Amy and maaaybe Metal Sonic). Aside from not including certain characters like Mighty in Origins I think that is the biggest sin, the price tag isn't worth it, when Mega Collection + and Gems Collection each sold for the same price but had 15 games, Chaotix, the Arcade Sonic with Mighty and Ray, and several other games should've been included and made into the bundle, heck for Chaotix alone I would've changed my mind and boughten that bad port of those classic games. Hey maybe there is still hope, Mania's DLC didn't come till a year after, doubtful, but maybe just maybe if Sega heard all of us Origins could be made better, otherwise guess we're just waiting for a Mania 2 that may never happen... Sega why are you so complicated and like this?
