What law are they breaking? Officers have every right to use discretion when something might be technically against the law, but not posing any risk that the law was designed to reduce, like if an officer with a speed gun caught you doing 31 in a 30, technically it's black and white and you're breaking the law, but any reasonable officer will use their discretion and not take any action
Oh that . Hahaha... it was my McDonald's that I ended up going back for when I finally decided to sit down and eat .. lol... I was like .. HUH... I swear I bought some McDonald's!!!

Cool video! Awesome police 👍 Encountered 2 under age electric scooter riders at waterloo station this afternoon, they were only told by the police to dismount and thats it... 😬
i experienced the same thing... the police cannot take it from you if your pushing / walking it along... but if your seen riding it.. they may take it from you... however... the police may approach you with accusation saying.. "it was reported that someone of your description was seen riding an E-scooter"... and they could take it from you depending on your reaction to them.. soooooooo i say... STAY HUMBLE.
I saw recent video on UA-cam of someone video recording a traffic stop by police on a residential estate somewhere further north. The (fully fire-armed) cop came over and was giving the auditor grief over videoing in a public place, whilst he completely ignored a youth riding up and down the middle of the street on the same type of E-scooter all the time right next to him! I thought the governing body in London etc. was trying to introduce for hire E-scooters across the city.
Hmmm... It appears the police are being selective with who they approach! Sorry but.. If something is illegal.. They should NOT sell them! If they stop 1 person who is driving them..surely They must STOP all... But thats not what they're doing. The police know they're great for commuting.. But they are still illegal to ride.. So they're following their duty.. And i respect that.. But i DO NOT respect that everyone is given a diffrent treatment if found riding them! Its like.. If someone was being murdered infront of a cop.. The cop will call for backup.. Try to intervene.. Etc etc.. But catching some1 riding an E-scooter is sometimes given the blind eye... Thats because the police know its ridiculous and the LAW must change ASAP!
@@DuckManMascot Agree with everything you have said. But there is no offence at all of using a mobile phone to video record on a public footpath. But the police want to fit the recorder up.
These two probably haven't been told by a money grabbing chief constable to ticket everyone and anyone they can get away with, therefore they are doing the sensible thing and police for bad behaviours only. At the moment with the crack down in London it's equivalent to ticketing every car doing 31mph or more, it's done purely for finance gain only rather than for the good of the citizens.
Cool, by they shouldn't be on the side walk, and personal ones are illegal on road. I disagree with the decision of not allowing e-scooters on pavements. Bicycles and e-bicycles are allowed on pavement, don't see the reason why e-scooters aren't. Driving a vehicle that has such limited speed on roads near cars and trucks that go triple as fast is a serious danger for the e-scooter riders. Said that, I do believe that when riding on the pavement, speed needs to be significantly low to protect pedestrians.

Officers have every right to use discretion when something might be technically against the law, but not posing any risk that the law was designed to reduce, like if an officer with a speed gun caught you doing 31 in a 30, technically it's black and white and you're breaking the law, but any reasonable officer will use their discretion and not take any action
Hey, I was just wondering what you dropped by accident from your scooter at 2:13 ?
Oh that . Hahaha... it was my McDonald's that I ended up going back for when I finally decided to sit down and eat .. lol... I was like .. HUH... I swear I bought some McDonald's!!!
@@DuckManMascot lol. At least it wasn't your mobile.
Need more officers like this🙌🏽
I use my E-scooter in Scotland, and travel through Glasgow using the trains witch have now banned the scooters. Passed police in multiple cities with no issue whatsoever. E-bikes with pedals have a different law but surly as this is a scooter it can be push assist with you;re feet.
I wish i had these police stop me instead of rhe ones that took mine off me!!!
The draconian laws that were made before cars were even invented absolutely needs to change, there’s no 2 ways about it
.. Fine, I'll play. Name me one "draconian" law that pertains to e scooter use?
@@NoMoreLies365 that’s the point, not one has anything to do with escooters but they refer to horses etc,the laws really are that old
I saw recent video on UA-cam of someone video recording a traffic stop by police on a residential estate somewhere further north.
Good example of police the public want on our streets. Friendly and rational, but there to protect and serve.
Big bold bicycle
It might be an idea if these two were chief constable.
Cool, by they shouldn't be on the side walk, and personal ones are illegal on road. They should be banned everywhere, everyone's going on side walks and running red lights killing people or injuring them.
They most likely would get rid of them after the trials cuz alot of people have died due to them.
Easy charge for them isnt it they have targets the MET police. Out in thr countryside a bit more they more likely to leave you alone.
@@bnbmike4731 Well that's why there needs to be legislation so everyone has rules to follow. At the moment it's just carnage because there are none. No on knows where to ride how fast to ride what size motor nothing.
@@bnbmike4731 lots of people! Mmm bit of an over exaggerated statement, I bet more o

Tbf those police officers were so sound
We need more Police Officers like these 2 .. very civilised and not inhumane cool as
No they weren't because if it was pissing it down with rain they would have arrested him so they could go back to the station to get out of the rain but they were happy just taking a leisurely stroll in the sunshine instead
@@DannyMacDJ so basically... if your going to do something illegal... don't do it on a rainy day to avoid being arrested?
@@DuckManMascot in the summertime when the weather is fine the crooks are out committing crime, because the officers out on patrol don't seem to mind as they have got Summer on their summer on their summer on their mind 😀
Also.... Disclaimer... I am not encouraging or condoning any type of criminal activities are behaviour in the summertime... as Autumn and spring are just as good! 😂
Judging by the comments I think most people missed the point in this video. The police officers were more than happy taking a leisurely stroll in the sunshine however if it was pouring down with rain the E scooter would have been confiscated and he would have been taken down to the station just so they could seek shelter
lol 3 years later and this government has done ‘f’ all
Those guys were so nice! All handled very well.
I wonder if they handle muggers the same way, or better still I wonder how they would have been had the rider just run over a kid, "O how sad hope you get well soon"
Here we are a year later, and has anything really changed? Not for the worse, thankfully, but nothing greatly positive either.
Is that your helmet dangling from the handlebars? Pleased it looks like laws will be changing in UK. Been scooting around Brisbane for that last 18 months on a variety of small to medium scooters and it's our main transport / recreation now.
I don't think we really want the law to change. Because people will end up having to pay tax and insurance plus put number plates and L plates on their scooters. That they once was riding for free the way it should be.
fair enough
That’s a first a fair copper 👮♀️
It certainly surprised me how he delt with the situation.. Realising that its not a big problem and laying it all on the line like that

They are very nice Police Officers ♥️
because the weather is nice ..lol
I think the message is "don't ride like a pratt" and be polite. I think the whole electric personal scooters, bikes, and skateboards are great fun.
Need more police like this 👍
Yes yes the U.K. needs to lighten up on the very fun and useful escooters.
Frickin hell we need more police like this in the uk
It doesn't make much sense to ban them when they can barely go as fast as a bicycle.
You're kidding, right? Some of them do 80mph
@@garyking4032 Legally?
@@paulmurgatroyd6372 of course not. But they're a lot faster than a bicycle.
@@garyking4032 some of them, but those cost in excess of two thousand pounds or more and are very rarely used on the road, the vast majority of electric scooters are in the vain of the xiaomi m365 pro type of small commuter which will do 15mph

So British law depends on how nice a day it is???
They've started trying to get people to rent them in a few cities now, so they're meant to be on the road only?
Why bring them in to city centres where many of the streets are pedestrianised?
Genuine questions, does anyone know?
And that is known as a proper copper. Understanding, realistic and diplomatic. Last thing they want to do is fill out endless paper work for someone using an escooter responsibly. 🙌

same thing happened to me, but i was pushing mine tho limping as was in town. i have MS and arthritis with a bad back n knee so am disabled - do those with 4 wheels have tax and insurance. ?
Respect to both parties there, good policing and a good respectful conversation by the rider.
Oh so it depends what mood the police are in?!
Or how you come across, some people have charm some don't.

THEY TAKE STUFF TO KEEP IT. On the extra cheap.
Like handing in stolen bikes.
Of its not claimed. The police claim them or give them to there fam and friends.
England should just legalise them, as in most parts of Europe, they are legalised.
It's funny how you can ride e scooter if you hire one that's legal
But if it's your scooter it's illegal
ikr it should be the opposite cause if its your own losing the option to use it will effect you because you bought it but if its not its just a (awww man) scenario.
That's cos the hired one do have insurance so if you hit someone or something you're covered.
@Chris Brown yes absolutely I agree. Also go through a worthiness test like a car mot.
I had a moped, I have a car, but now I want e scooter.
It just seems like the cops are like them BBC license fee inspectors, in terms of this e scooter and bicycles law on paths or and roads, some cops will fine some will just tell u about the law others won't even bother u.
Mental to think they go on record stating that the discretion used by police is completely based on their own personal mood of the moment...
They are very considerate police officers; please do not abuse your privilege. BTW, I am one of those hoping the law to change too.
Said that, I do believe that when riding on the pavement, speed needs to be significantly low to protect pedestrians.
its almost end of 2023 and how did the law changed?
It never will as they can't steal ur money using the scooters
Coming back from work tuesday night 22:30 , on my Dualtron eagle pro , mode 2 on Eco , doing like 22kph… wearing Full face helmet , hiviz , and had my lights on. Passed police that had 2 minors stoped , one on a rental , one on a m365 I think… they even made room for me to pass.

Did you know that electric skate boards are not illegal due to them not having a steering wheel or handlebar with which to control directions, or so another guy on a post informed me, crazy
Great police men ! Thank you
Why can't all police be like them we wouldn't have so much split between public and police
Lucky dude. Here in NSW, Australia the laws are the same as UK, but other states have legalised them. My gf got fined AUD $2700 for riding 8km/h on a footpath with a bike helmet. Complete joke. It has been 7 weeks and we still haven't received it. But some other people have gotten fined within 3 days over email. We can dispute it.

Potentially 6 points and £200 fine ?
Yes, 6 points to completely VOID yourself from driving!
Nope, its actually £450 fine plus £150 to retrieve your scooter from the compound where the police store it.. Plus an additional £5 per per day for storage.
like they said though all it takes is a cop in a bad mood.
What lovely officers!
This is the way police should deal with things

The fact they CLAIM "Mechanically propelled can go 2 ways. 1st is does NOT have a Propeller thus the finite meaning of the word "Propeller" "ED" is just a PAST TENSE prefix. So in essence their Statue of Law belong'sin the Ocean quite frankly. 2nd point How the F can they claim MECHANICALLY when point of fact a piece of Wood through a Stone Wheel is a "Mechanism" So to claim Authority over that which they did not invent their self i see hard to find how they can claim lawful authority over the definition. Skate board roller skates are ALL mechanically driven. ILLUSION to justify taking your rights. Its called Politics/Taxs=Corruption to Mans freedom.
