Me during the first few minutes: I hate Tony. He's lazy.
Me 3 minutes in: Oh my God. He's the only sane person here.
It was probably Tony's idea to ask for Gordon's help. He needed a world class chef to get through to his family and apparently it worked out
100 percent my thought
I had a feeling he wasn't the problem from the very start

Lmaoooo right
Tony isn’t lazy. He’s shutting down and people out because he’s verbally abused daily by his own family.

Grace is easily the most toxic person who’s ever been on this show. Instigates fights between her husband and his brother. She verbally abuses Tony, their staff, and customers. As soon as anyone calls her out, she melts down in a sympathy fit.
BECAUSAHEEEEEM!
She is absolutely horrid. As soon as it's pointed out that she is the villain, she cries and paints herself as the victim for sympathy. Just horrible all the way around.

Luigi has the most toxic wife I've seen. She's instigated the fights between those brothers, HANDS DOWN.
Its sad that he didn't see that she was a problem. She could've been making him sick as well. She was very emotionally abusive, even to diners. I couldn't believe how she was allowed to behave like a toddler the whole time. She screamed about every little thing. She lacks accountability and tried to manipulate everyone by screaming and crying like a baby. Omg!!!

She could give a 2 year old a run for their money with tantrums like that.
As of my most recent check, Luigi’s D’Italia is still open and serving customers under the same ownership that you saw on the episode.
However, it’s doing so at a new location, as they closed the Luigi’s D’Italia Anaheim CA location that you saw on TV and reopened in Fullerton, CA in September 2017.
Reviews are excellent with a 4.5 star rating on Yelp.

@Ballah 666 Italians sound like a bunch of INFJ-T folk imho, but your ppl let it manifest and turn ugly just like Grace and Luigi lol. Italians are so emotional and passionate that they speak in two voices at once-the other is their hands
Sometimes people don't realise they're speaking louder than people normally do. I once thought I was only trying to sound clearer and be more vocal in a debate competition. A video recording of myself proved me wrong. It sounded more like I was yelling and it was quite awkward to watch. My mother, when she's upset or angry at either or my father, yells her complaints and frustrations at us. And I once told her calmly ("Calmly", as a result of discovering how annoyingly loud I was years ago) that she doesn't need to yell, and at the same volume, she said to me "I'M NOT YELLING.."

The cut scenes to the customers listening intently to the yelling and screaming in the kitchen brought me back to my favorite mexicali place in town.
Recently the highlight of our weekend was coming in for some amazing bean dip, grilled skirt steak, and grilled tilapia cooked to perfection.

@@lynxthewise7233 have you listened to big mouth? She's straight up fucking abusing people as well as being insufferable and annoying.
Or a grown ass toddler
@@lynxthewise7233 the problem isn’t people who are hurt and lash out (that’s very understandable), but it’s difficult to be understanding to people who are abusive to everyone around them, refuse to have a calm conversation without resorting to screaming and just being unprofessional in a work environment. Grace’s behavior doesn’t just stem from stress but probably from a combination of that along with something else, like Bipolar disorder or Narcissistic disorder. People with those conditions are not villains but everyone has to learn how to communicate and cohabite with others and sometimes that requires therapy or medication. But that does not justify that sort of behavior, especially not to that extremity.
You could just see in his eyes how fragmented and evaporated his passion and drive for his restaurant was. Even when he argued about how good his food was, his eyes are the tell all. He didn’t even believe himself. It was so nice to see the spark back in everyone’s eyes especially as family

He was the only one who slipped back into his old problems during the big service though. I think he might have been the biggest contributor to their problems, since the root of the problems tend to creep back in during the comeback service. “Grace can’t take criticism”
Grace: *literally screaming and crying like a child*
@Ballah 666 it's normal mostly in every Asian countries as peopl show their emotions fast but if you go to America you should ACT as one
Please, don't give out these comments and then act as if you know what you're talking about. I'm a southern Italian, we talk a bit loudly but definitely not like that woman, it's obvious that the woman in the video is extremely stressed to be able to have such mood swings. Please educate yourself before putting these comments next time.
@Ballah 666 Ok I understand that, however you should be intelligent enough (and I dont mean to sound rude, im sorry if it does sound rude)to understand that just because you met some type of people from a specific country who act in a certain way, it doesnt necessarily mean that all the country is like that. I hope that makes sense.
Either way I can understand your side.
Unfortunately many people make this mistake, to assume that a community is represented by some ,as you said "rotten apples", whether it be ethnicity , religion etc.
Thank you for your reply
I hope you will have a nice day ❤
@Ballah 666 ok
@Ballah 666 that's because northern italy (south tyrol) belonged to austria. They speak out accent and dialect and have the same mindsets and behaviours still. I actually really hate the southerns in italy. They always scream when they are talking normally. It's annoying and disrespectful in my opinion. Ofc they grew up like that but it's annoying if you go to eat somewhere and want to talk with your family but all you hear are the italians yelling at each other having a normal conversation
The "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!" from the intro is synonymous to this show for me. I feel its practically iconic to the series.
When you walk in the door and there is a gumball machine right there, you know you’re in for some terrible food.
Grace: Tony, he don't care about the customer
Also Grace: *violently screams and swears at customers for complaining about food*
RIGHT?! i was so confused xD
Yes!!! Yes!!! I was thinkin the same thing
She needs Prozac
Quite Logic when you think about it :
She's doing service, probably at a high intensity (since the food comes out so fast) and she's seeing Tony not doing much, and since they have financial problems, it anger her more and more, so at some point, she exploded, and it makes clients leave, so more financial problems, so more anger and frustration, so more explosions....

Tony and his wife are the most chill people there. If they were running the restaurant, it would actually be good.
Not sure, if it would be good. But it would for sure be better
The restaurant is actually still running and has a 4.5 star rating on google !
I was thinking the same thing. Tony just seems like he’s chilling, I’m not all the way through but he seems super reasonable. And he has that stereotypical lovable Italian dude vibe.
Edit: aw, he’s even trying to encourage his brother when he knows he’s upset.
What I heard is Tony is not on the restaurant anymore but still keep in touch with his brother.
Yeeeh... no ways!😭😭😭
Oh Mr Ramsey!
You are so much more than a Michelin Star chef…
The way you hang in there with this family, to cut through all the emotions,to really get to the heart of each person, past their ego, through to their true goodness and soul, is so beautiful to watch!
Grace was so quick to anger, but underneath all there was a wonderful woman, who along with the rest of her family was not being seen until Gordon broke through❤
Great episode, nice turnaround 😮
Grace needs some serious help. That woman is out of her damn mind and should be on medication to control those ridiculous outbursts.
for real, this shit aint normal. she need help
Nuttier than a fruitcake….definitely needs help….
Pretty damn sure she has bpd and pretty sure her husband is well aware of it.
She's Italian. That's not sick. It's just the southern temper
@@juannaym8488 that’s more than just Italian temper…..
Grace shouting with a read face: It'sa lie, lie, lie, I never shouta".
She's such a baby.
She is a drama queen
i don’t think she was ever taught emotional control
Restaurant is still open btw. They relocated but it's still good and running
Holy hell, the manner in which this family converse with each other remind me of the devils rejects.
Kitchen Nightmares:“Full ep Mondays”
Literally Everyone: “YEAHH BABY THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THATS WHAT IS ALL ABOUT”
AND IT’S UNCENSORED!!!
Good
Ngl thought it was Friday 🤣🤣
Ha ha, Charlie reference.
@@kieranbruty33ngl I hoped it was! 😝
"She can't take critisism."
"No that's a lie"
"insert critisism here"
"I DON'T WANNA HEAR THIS"
If I see Gordon Ramsay at a restaurant with a camera I’m walking out immediately 🤣
Adding the mic to the plate to hear the slushy noise of the food while Ramsey critiques saying its mush bland greasy its dreadful that's special holy crap.😂
I know a lot of the comments here are very negative but I have to say that this is one of Kitchen Nightmares biggest success stories in the US. This restaurant is STILL OPEN (the episode was in 2011), has had very positive reviews, and has even continued to renovate as the years went by. Congrats team!
THANK YOU. I was so emotional and rooting for them i was searching for this comment!!
Luigi was a renowned chef, there was never any doubt he couldn't cook it was all about them making it work together.
Wow one that actually survived after the show.
So Cal resident here, can you confirm plz. I did a quick search and found a hole in the wall spot only.
@@christianleon3748 think it’s Luigi D’italia in Fullerton ? I think they moved locations (from what other comments are saying)
There's a right type of "lazy", and it's the one that looks for efficiency. Tony seems like the guy who just needs a small kick to get into gear, and then he's really efficient, and productive... whereas the REST of the family was just in straight up denial when facing the truth.
I say this, because Tony basically reminds me of my own lazy ass.
I don't care how lazy Tony is. The much greater crime is a staff yelling "Fuck you!" at the top her lungs at a customer.
Tony seems like he's already given up but just stays because it's their family's business.
That reminds me of some business owners saying it always pays off to give the most menial tasks nobody is looking for to the laziest employee in the shop, because they'll always find the best way to do it with the least amount of effort possible. Told a story about how he used to have a car shop and being the admin person, he would have to do the inventory of nuts, bolts and screws. It always took a full day or two of counting.
The shop grew, got new employees, and one was particularly lazy. Come the time to do inventory, he decided to give the job to the lazy guy. He weighted an empty tray. Weighted a single bolt. Weighted a tray full of bolts. Repeat 3 times. Inventory done in 2 hours so that he could quickly go back to "not working" instead of "working on it all day" (despite it being a very low effort task)
Even if he was lazy, it wasn't what destroyed the restaurant.
Like, I don't care if I saw an employee standing around and watching television in the dining room, but I do care if the food is inedible and the owner's wife comes out of nowhere to verbally abuse me when I politely complained about it.
Tony maybe lazy but he's respecting Chef Ramsay and he's even comforting his big brother when he had a meltdown. I kinda feel bad for him because both of his brother and sister-in-law keep bullying him by saying he's lazy. Probably the guy has stressed out for a lot of working and the facts he keeps arguing with both of them.
I miss our family outings with our Italian family restaurant...it was grand till we lost a few members...then it was no longer there...started in the 50s-late 70s...
Damn this was the best episode I’ve ever seen .
I’m bawling my eyes out. 👍
Apparently they’re still open in 2021 with a 4.4 star review, they relocated t the restaurant but kept going strong. One of the only restaurants on KN who stuck true to Gordon’s advice and just never let their standards drop
Good to know this! I've been in a binge watching spree and i always wonder how they are right now
@@lianafk Most of the restaurants on the show shut down by now, only a few survived.
But they moved right? Becos the old buildings owned by the father were sold due to family dispute. I bet luigi and tony r fighting again. Most likely money.
A LOT of places stick to the new standards, now get that nose out before it's stained brown forever.
@@NetherHawk name few shut down ones
7:40 That woman screamed so loud that even Gordon himself got scared
Facts
Maybe he had to stop himself from laughing, because that woman is acting like the most ridiculous asshole ever.
you can see him laughing at her yelling @ 8:31 🤣
