- It has been one year since the Sewol ferry disaster and the loss of our loved children.
Parents of those children who died in the incident are still grieving on the streets.
However the world seems to be against them, saying that it is enough.
Everyday has been a tragedy for them for the past year. ‘OhmyNews’ wants to remember the Sewol ferry disaster to make a better world and for those children who no longer can live their dreams.

I´ve been crying silently about this, I know it doesn't have anything to do with me but the fact that all those kids died scared for their lives, worried about who was going to protect their family, still following orders of stupid adults and texting their parents is just heartbreaking. They could've been great people and have helped the society in so many ways. I pray for their mourning families, if we are all crying about this I can't even imagine how they feel after all those years with a part in their heart missing.
it’s 4am and i’m crying so bad.. i have a 22-month old son, watching that clip of baby Suhyun climbing up the bed broke my heart! i watch my baby thriving everyday, from those moments of him climbing beds too, to these days when he runs around the house and climbs window grills.. i can’t even imagine the pain those parents are suffering until today.... this tragedy was senseless and should never have happened... my prayers to the victims and their families :’(
This is very heartbreaking, I can not imagine the pain that those parents still go through to this day. :(

As a parent of 2 sons, I can’t say I feel your pain because I could never imagine the pain & anguish you feel. I cry for you and your son. I feel helpless but I want to help. I can only pray you all find peace. 💜
I have been crying in my room after his interview. The situation he has gone through is really painful . I can feel his sadness and i'm so sorry for his loss. My deep condolences to all the families who had lost their children. May the late childrens rest in peace🙏

The movie "Birthday" that inspired by Sewol Tragedy, a student name Su Ho who die because of the accident. Su Ho has similar character with Suhyun

very sad. I also cry for the parents and for their children lost on the ferry.Really sad.
Money can’t bring these children back to their family, as much as they want to it doesn’t work like that Korean government, these parents are demanding answers as well as people around the world supporting them-
Also I’ve heard that different countries offered to help them save those students before the ferry sank and they refused?? I’d like to know why did they deny any help from different countries?
I hope these families get the justice for their children and I pray for them a healthy recovery soon I know it’s hard to lose someone you love but I hope these parents live happily one day
Yk this is so sad but yk this wont ever happen again they are searching for answers and that shit captain is sentenced to death so he can die like he made 250 other children die saddest part is they all couldve been alive if they wouldve been resqued

im sobbing so hard right now- its 5in the morning and i couldnt stop thinking about this awfully heartbreaking tragedy. this incident always haunts me once in a while and it clouds my mind, its all i can think about and this night is one of those days again, my heart is in shambles thinking of the poor young adults who had to die so unfairly, too soon. they had their whole life ahead of them. theyre death is really very very unjust to them and their beloved ones. i just hope, now after 8years, their young souls have departed and found peace and happiness, wherever they are. i sincerely hope all the survivors and the victims families are happy, healthy and living very well. their dear children would also very much want this for them.

Something very similar happened to childrens in Pakistan
Where they were shot by terrorists in a school
Idk why but I can't forget these two incidents the fact that both of these took place just months apart and couldn't be saved due to the negligence of the government
Just like them people still mourn over these students death
They'll must be playing together in heaven

Sigh😢 i just learnt about this sewol ferry tragedy .. no amount of money can bring your son back so don’t listen to that taxi driver and other citizen’s bullshit opinions. Hugs to you and I’ll remember these students forever.. very heartbreaking 💔

It's a form of protest and a very old one dating back from 1960s.
I can't blame them. Their kids are dead and they're getting compensation from the government first instead of investigate, salvage, and finding all of the missing persons first. No amount of money can solve parent's yearning for their children.
It was really bad case honestly... There were some children who were apparently alive even after the ship had sank due to air trapped at the corners and they sent messages for help a day after the sinking! An entire day they held out... The government refused and based it of as rumours but it is said to be true... There is a interview of a mother who had asked the government to help those kids but the government just brushed them off and later tried to cover up the incident....
