At my last restaurant job, we made beef tallow/butter candles. Basically this but we used equal parts butter and beef tallow with infused herbs. Really good!
It's honestly not as painful as it looks. I saw Ron Swanson doing it on Parks & Recreation, so I gave it a go. I fully admit it was immature of me to imitate what I saw on television, but I own it, and it doesn't hurt.
I would love to see this idea taken further. How do you package and preserve the butter candle in a way that lets you hold its form better and save unused butter. Maybe a wax paper liner you can tear away as it gets shorter. I’d love to see something like this with flavors and packaged for a nicer night of quiet snacking and reading a book or listening to some music. Nothing better than butter on fresh bread.
I'd put that butter candle on a huge cut round bread then let the wick burn and the butter melt into the crevices. I would drizzle melted cheese and season it then eat it. What a dream
