Yes that's true, in my place here the subway , at their counter where they prepare and do the sandwich wrappings they have a spot where they actually check it sizes in front of the customer so it's up to us if we want longer than a foot we can also get it. If you want a foot they'll cut into half simple. It's very good actually and I love subway it's really awesome especially subway here they also serve cookies. My goodness their cookies are too die for. It's not really sweet but then you eat one and you will have a kinda craving to go for another cookies. Their cookies as big as the palm of my hand. As someone who worked for McDonald’s way back in the day (like almost everyone). Just ask for fresh fries if you want fresh fries. The person making fries has to basically pour the fries straight from the basket into the container in their hand (yes it burns) to get no salt fries. Your best bet going to any fast food place is asking for fresh food, but just know you’re going to wait.

My method for reheating pizza is a little more involved but it legit has the best results. Heat my cast iron pan on medium high, make a little foil boat to hold the pizza, then pour a few tablespoons of water outside the boat. Cover and let steam for a couple minutes and you're left with pizza that has a crispy bottom but the crust doesn't harden like it does in the microwave.

I used to work night shift and when people would ask for no salt I would ask if they just wanted fresh fries. Almost every single person basically went "... yes.", or insisted on no salt then asked for salt in the bag lol
They were always fresh anyways at the one I worked at, as we just scooped them out of a bag in the freezer and made them to order. At night we usually got 0-3 orders an hour that included fries, and people usually don't mind waiting if you tell them that's why.
During the day it was a gamble because fry station workers were either too busy to pay attention to how long the pre-made no salt fries had been sitting there, or the order gets out once the fries are ready.
Basically whether or not these kinds of haxx work depends a lot on how the place is run, and is why you get different answers from people (at another location I would sometimes help fill shifts where people were lazy and made a few batches at the beginning of the night they would re-heat then re-salt or not, so you didn't get fresh fries either way).

For normal fries they usually just make a large salted batch and grab out of that to save time, but for unsalted fries they have to make them to order (since the premade ones have salt on them). You can also just ask for them to make yours fresh if you want salt on them though lol

From what I understand you should only ask for fries no salt if you have something like high blood pressure. It apparently throws off the entire batch because they have to wait to salt the batch of fries and then the salt doesn't stick.
They much prefer it if you simply ask for fresh fries

  • @RealUNRL

For the Fries one at 7:30 I work at chick fil a and do the fries station a lot, the reason they are fresher if they are unsalted is because when we make them we automatically salt them as the normal and then if it’s no salt we have to drop more because the ones we have ready are already salted

    ex fast food worker here.
the reason they're so hot is for one of two reasons
    1) they made them fresh for you, given you asked for no salt and salt is added into the large scooping bin
    2) they dunked them in the fryer for a few seconds on their own to dissolve the salt and remove most of it if not all of it before serving it to you.
these were the two things we would have to do if someone ordered no salt on their fries. we usually did option 2 unless they specifically asked for fresh made fries given it takes much less time.
The other fries are just sitting under a heat lamp, salted and waiting to be scooped

The perfectly round cookie one (#38) does work, but it has to be super fresh, soft, and hot. And the Uncrustable one (#45) also works, but you have to put the peanut butter or whatever filling you have in the smack middle, and when you press down the glass, it has to not be touching the peanut butter. But it could just be that the hacks just sometimes go wrong and doesn't work, and this was just one of the times.
