When I was younger I used to dress extravagant. Now that I have a different lifestyle I realised it makes no sense owning certain things. I started dressing basic 2 years ago but really missing the creativity, which I later found in ascesorizing! interesting jewelery, scarves, hats.. its a gamechanger! For all of the people with unique styles that want to dress more toned down but still authentic ❤😊
I do enjoy my wardrobe. Due to a change in financial circumstances, I haven't had many new clothes for a while now, so I've been wearing what I have on repeat. I'm regularly surprised by how I can find new combinations with those pieces and my accessories, which is exciting. I remember Marie Kondo saying one time that new clothes lack the validity or authenticity or something like that which old clothes have, and I think I now know what she meant. I know my wardrobe so well now that new pieces are actually kind of alarming.
That Striped Dress is PERFECT for you! The fit, the Design & the Pattern look Great. THAT was just another of those Practical, Comfortable & Very Wearable pieces you're talking about! I always Enjoy your Videos & the Wisdom you share with your Subscribers. Thank You. 😊🇺🇲
After having lost a lot of weight, I basically had to start from scratch with my wardrobe. After over six months of living with my capsule, I have realized that while I love it and wear all of it, it’s a little too sparse for me. That said, I am trying to be cautious regarding what I buy to ensure it really fits who I am. I love your perspective.
Hello Eileen. This was such a helpful video for me. I essentially like my wardrobe, but I am still working on having less. My closet and drawers are very well organized. I recently took over 20 clothingl/shoe items to a local consignment shop. The items they don't take are then donated to a local thrift store. It felt so good to part with them. I feel that I am close to my "true" style (neutral and classic), but my goal is to have more quality pieces. Your pajamas are so beautiful. I like how you organize your clothes with such special care.
I’m a huge fan of silk and have dozens of silk items, a full wardrobe of them, really. No other fabric even comes close to its comfort and year-round wearability.
I'm pretty satisfied with my wardrobe. Last year I did a big spring cleaning and donated a lot of clothes I no longer use to a local charity thrift. It felt so good to let things go! ❤ Now I'm trying to figure out which shoes to let go. I have about 70 pairs of high heels but only very few occasions to wear them 🫤 It really makes no sense of owning a big collection of pumps or any kind of shoes you don't even wear once in a year! Shoes are also unfortunately difficult to sell.
I like the steamer iron! It works really well. Use the bottled water to avoid metals ub the steam. Clothes need room to breath your closet is over stuffed. Wash and dry clean according to fabric requirements. I would suggest organizing each season and sorting by color( black, white, beige, navy, green, red...) Then put trans-season clothes in their own space. What I mean is clothes that transition between seasons, for example a white short sleeved sundress can be spring, summer and autumn with seasonal appropriate sweaters...
Totally agree! I found a good quality not expensive trouser in black and in marine and I have like 10 of them (for the laundry issue as you mentionned): they are my pant work "uniform", and I have different tops that I enjoy much more than struggling to find pants that fits me. I have a fed dresser up dresses that can be worn at work professional events, but blamed up with make up and shoes if I need to.
This sounds really good and helpful. I don't think people realize that a lot of the clothes that are donated end up in landfills. Not just hear but in say india where a lot of out things get shipped they seimply don't use them there by filling up their land fills with our unwanted clothing. I think your ideas will help with knowing what we should buy .
Great video.. I am at an age where I am at a crossroads with fashion. At 72ys some things I like are too young and others too old. It's a balancing act getting it right as I love being modern and classic. I don't want to look dowdy. As I lead a casual life after a lifetime of dressing up everyday I am really finding that casual dressing is hard to do.
Hi Eileen I really appreciated this video. I bought the same jumper in 3 colours because I feel so comfortable wearing it and felt a bit odd but this video gives me reassurance. Can you please share your tips and advice on maintaining investment pieces like cashmere, silk and wool? How do you wash, iron and store, and remove piling?
Comfortable, wearable and enjoyable. I like how you used these words to describe an ideal wardrobe. I sometimes struggle with comfortable but still being stylish and not frumpy looking. Thanks for another great video. I love how organized your wardrobe is.
I couldn’t get comfortable until I purged all the synthetic-fiber items from my wardrobe, even blends. When I discovered that I had developed allergies to many of these fibers, they just had to go. I have a natural-fiber wardrobe now and am so much more comfy. (No plastic shoes or accessories, either).
Thank you for your inspiring channel!! I don't recall which video was the first I found but I am always happy to watch your videos. I would like to create a wardrobe that is more a reflection of my current life and I wonder if you help people like me via Zoom or on line? THANK YOU for what you are sharing!
Your wardrobe is adorable. Those colors can’t work in rural Florida. It is far too hot. I am working on curating a Florida wardrobe ❤ I am building a green house to work in at my leisure so, rags…I need rags to wear! 😂
This was soSoSO Good and very needed. I don't love my wardrobe but do love Many pieces I own. Yes, I feel I own too much and at one time in my life, enjoyed not wearing the same thing twice. Now since I've been wearing more neutrals, I'm finding myself purchasing many of the same things. I may have mentioned (if not, I've thought it) not enjoying, Influencers, like I once have, Collaborating with so many companies as this does not help me with not help me. Question Eileen. Would you have purchased the pieces from Lilly Silk to add to your wardrobe if you weren't a collaborate of theirs? Another thought provoking video. TFS&I 💛✨️
Thank you for the question! I strictly work with brands that allow me to choose the pieces I will wear in my daily life. In the case of Lilysilk, I thoroughly enjoy their silk pyjamas and cashmere jumpers. Those are the pieces of definitely have purchased, although my selection would have been more curated xx
Colour Vs Monochrome.I feel most Me in Black & Grey with a pop of Jewl tone maybe even a Neon. I hide behind bright colours, so those who know me know I'm not at my best if wear Light & Colourful instead of my usual Deep & Monochrome 😎☕💋

I own a few cashmere sweaters, I find myself wearing the grey or navy blue over dark jeans often. What to do with the purple ones? When I purged my wardrobe 1 years ago, I got rid of all the synthetic fabrics and kept all cotton, linen, wool only.
I enjoy fashion YT, but I never liked those short-form platforms like Insta. They do perpetuate the idea that we must have new things all the time. I prefer YT videos like yours, featuring a few new high-quality garments being worn as outfits by mixing them with extant wardrobe items. This is much more realistic and familiar to most of us, who don’t wear new outfits everyday. I can’t imagine anything more wasteful or a bigger hassle. It’s unfortunate that the way things work, those content creators who sell the most through links are the only ones who can make a living on social media.
I totally agree with you (on many points like paying attention to the fabric, owning less but well choosed, caring for confort, owning « few » but beautiful) but i think this is so much easier when you choose neutral colors! Everything goes together, the wardrobe seems unified BUT i don’t want to live in neutral colors!! I like floral dresses for example and not black and white ones 😜 Tht’s a problem for me! I love silk ans cashmeere ( that the only thing i wear in winter) …and i find that the lilysilk cashmeere is too fine, transparent. It screems « cheap cashmeere » I am a little disappointed that you are making advertising for them (like eveeeerybody on YT).wearing this king of cashmeere with a hermes bag seems so strange…all your pieces are carefully choosen, i can’t believe you really think lilysilk is the best in luxury fabrics…disappointed.
Hi Eileen, it looks, I’m the first comment. Yes, I am enjoying my wardrobe, but still need to give away, some good pieces, I know I’m not going to use. Thanks and have a blessed week ahead. ❤
