We also used tooth picks and cut the excess off with scizzors. I just heard him say what I did. Lol I'm 75 and been watching him and Jimmy and Bill Dance. Farther back is the American Angler John Fox.

Thanks for all you do Roland! I spent Christmas 24th, 25th and 26th on Kissimmee, Toho and the Butler Chain. No 10 pounders but had a total Blast. I just retired and moved to Lake Eufaula, AL! SWEET HOME!

Roland, I’ve been a fan since I was a kid, probably 30+ years ago. I used to wake up and watch you on ESPN outdoors on Saturday morning, and I really enjoyed watching you catch the “big ol bass”. Thanks for all the tips and letting kids like me travel along with you to fish the waters of the US. I was happy to watch this UA-cam video and learn you are a military veteran like myself. After all these years, I just finally learned you served. Thanks for the all the fishing tips and for serving our country.

The tips and the specific 'how to' style of this video are exactly what so many people want and appreciate. So many other people who produce fishing videos never get into the specifics because they are afraid of giving away their so called secrets. I'm an ametuer and need all the help I can get. Thank you Mr. Martin this was really helpful.

Wow just seeing this out of the box ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Great to see you on here. You, Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston are responsible for my bass fishing addiction. I've caught many bass since 1970 but will never forget my first. Caught it on a purple worm. Thank you for being a teacher. Old Scott is a pretty good bass catcher. He sure reminds me of you from back in the good old days.

I have always respected Roland's tips and tricks. There are so many little tricks I have learned from watching his show in the past, and much of the time I used them with success. This man's advice comes from experience, and you can tell he is telling you the truth because it all makes sense if you really listen. Thanks so much Mr. Martin, not only for this video but for the years of fishing advice you have generously shared. I have watched your fishing shows since the early 1980's. I fish Lake Barkley, Kentucky Lake, and lots of streams around the middle Tennessee area, and utilize Roland's techniques. You gotta love Roland Martin if you are an outdoorsman.

I grew up watching you, you’re my favorite fisherman ever to watch and I am really happy that I found your UA-cam channel, now I am bringing my eight-year-old boy up watching you also. I am from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and me and my buddy drove to Clewiston about 15 years ago and stayed at your fishing spot, we loved it, we rented a boat and had a blast down there. The only regret we had is we came in the summer, and we should’ve came In February or March. It was so hot that the fishing got tough after 9 o’clock in the morning. Sorry for rambling but i’m just glad that you have a channel.

I’m a bass fishing noob, I use to only use crank baits and if I caught a bass than I caught one. Yesterday I used a wacky worm rig and with in 20 min I had 2 smash it. Now I’m on UA-cam finding and learning so much info about bass fishing. I’m not to sure who this guy is but he makes me just want to learn more and more. Seems like a great teacher and I’m looking forward to watching more of his videos. I’m hooked to the point I went out and bought a trolling motor for my kayak, can’t wait to get back on the water.

Really like what Roland is talking about here efficiency is incredibly important when word fishing and fishing in general. All were really trying to do when we fish is learn. Learn what we’re dealing with and that leads to what the fish are eating. A worm is just a fish catcher but what we forget is how good it can be as an assessment tool for the cover we fish. Get out there make smart casts and throw a worm!

This was great Roland! I’ve never heard of that swivel trick. That’s really cool and something I’m going to try. I’m also glad you mentioned rigging senkos backwards. A lot of people will throw their senkos out once the head is all blown out because they think they’re no good anymore. But I’ve been rigging them backwards ever since I started using senkos. I think they work just as well.

Wow! As a young man I used to watch your show with my Dad. Dad loved watching you (me too) and after the show we would sometimes go fishing. Dad pretty much bottom fished so I never really go to do any Bass fishing with him. Fast forward many years, Dad had passed away several years ago, I became a full fledged computer geek and a IT Professional, living in the desert and got away from fishing. Now that I'm approaching 60, and had received a Rod and Reel from my company for a 20 year anniversary gift, I'm gearing up to once again to fishing. But I want to go after the other species like Bass. So, like a good computer geek, I hit youtube for research. Learned several things and was looking through my feed and suddenly, there you are. I didn't even need to see your name. I knew who you are instantly and hit that subscribe button so fast I almost broke my mouse. LOL. Super Glue. No one else I watch ever mentioned that. Using swivels like that. Makes perfect sense and, again, no one else even mentioned swivels.
Glad I found you sir. Don't go away now, my big fishing trip is a few months away and I have much to learn from you. :)
