A 1 second improvement over the previous record by Looper. 10 more days and it would have been 2 years since I last did this category :)
Map 02:
I should reset on 40+ seconds, but once you survive underhalls you just want to continue instead of going through it again.
Map 04:
A really bad start to this level, getting blocked in by the monsters like that.
Map 12:
I didn't stand close enough to the wall before going for the key bump, shame because I hadn't failed it before this attempt.
Map 13:
Unlucky elevator cost me 3 seconds.
Map 17:
A new setup for the switch press, unfortunately I messed it up pretty badly here. The idea is to save 40 cells and a little bit of time by ignoring the hallway with monsters.
Map 21:
Got rather unlucky getting hit so early, though I managed to find some room in the continous projectile fire to get through between the bars.
Map 22:
Getting all 3 tricks on this level perfectly is difficult, failed the jump to the exit area this time and glide was a bit slow this time.
The rest was decent.

So this is the legendary Zero Master I've heard so much about. Truly an impressive feat. If I had to point out my personal favorite/most impressive part, is when he uses the splash damage of the rocket launcher to just dodge everything in one of the last ledges in MAP29.

@@GR-ir2bu In 18:40 he uses the rocket boost to both skip the waiting for the wall to lower, and also dodge the barons that appear there blocking your path. From there is just running the stairs up to the exit.
The setups for the rocket jumps and glides are beautiful
I literally just finished watching the 18:40 run and then this video was waiting for me in the home page, like "Hey, this one will save your 10 precious seconds. Try it."
tbh I was only expecting more or less 5 seconds improvement after that run. But you did 10 this time. Great work!

I watched this in complete amazement. Doom 2 was my favorite pc game to play at my cousins house when growing up.They had everything cool back in the 90’s - the Sega Channel, Doom 2 and AOL online!!!! So many memories of playing this game. Watching this speed run was a trip in the way back in the hey back time machine.

I just beat it on ultra violence with no quick saves (only level restarts allowed) for the first time since playing it fist in the 90s! It’s incredible to see it done so well. Congrats Zero Master!
Great run! Definitely a clutch aswell when you know how poorly MAP29 went in Looper's 18:31. Hopefully he will be on the hunt again! ;)

I'm actually playing through doom 2 on ultra violence with a pistol start at the moment, on map 19 - so it's absolutely wild to see what can be done with this game with maps I've struggled mightily with over the last few days. There was a couple where I had an idea of the route he'd take when you don't care about killing munsters, but some of these maneuvers just blew me away with the cleverness

What always surprises me about these runs is how little damage you take over 30 maps. If you discount self-inflicted damage and damaging floors it would probably cut that amount in half. Amazing run, congrats.
