  • Kicking off a bit of a mini-series today with a table full of trees and rocks! 💥More below!⬇
    In preparation for playing the first solo scenario of The Silver Bayonet, I need to make a table full of scatter terrain. So I’m going to make this stuff as fast as possible, which turns out to be … not as fast as I thought it’d be. But the end results are pretty decent!

    Wow, I learned so much just now watching all this. Thank you. I'll need to watch this a couple/few more times to pull out all these actionable techniques that will help me fill in my space nicely. Thanks for the demo, thanks for the inspiration, thanks for cutting to the chase. I have been grappling with how I'll balance fixed base terrain [aka: diorama ] vs. movable dynamic terrain [gaming table] because I desire my basement space to be both. This session has both supported my tendency for a more dynamic space, and helped me understand why I was heading that way to begin with.

    I feel that last comment in my soul. You spend hours working on a set of terrain pieces and when you finally kay them out you think "I could have done with like...50% more"
    I have to say too, your rocks, which I know you said youre not too happy with, are astounding. Forget realism, you want rocks that are fun to game on! If we eere in the hobby purely for realism we'd be building model railroads 😅

But that bridge piece......I have bad memories of a match where my opponent agonized over LOS through the arch, then judges came over to chime in on it, and 15 minutes later, we decided it didn't matter and I took the wounds anyway. I am glad you were having fun. Free lancing is just too damn much fun with my work. I love what I do besides my day job. Right now I need to find some new agency's. @tabletopalchemy  Рік тому +1

      Ah yes agencies. Most of our work has been referral of course but we’ve worked with a couple of small agencies in the past. Sometimes I’ve done work for client who’s project has been filtered through multiple agencies lol and everyone takes a fee. A forest of middlemen lol. Did I ask you this already? Do you do audio post for video productions as well as radio?

    • @andrewluchsinger
      @andrewluchsinger Рік тому

      @@tabletopalchemy I have never had the chance to do any audio for video productions except for that you tube video I made and that was pretty simple. All of my audio work. Mixing, editing and the rest has been radio only. I would love to give it a shot in a movie or something in that line. I know this is a bit antiquated, but you should have seen what I could do with a reel to reel. LOL

    There will 100% be a bulk industry version of Hob-e-tak, 'cause that's just how we get ripped off as hobbyists. THe one that always makes me laugh the most is those little spools of imitation barbed wire for 8 or 10 pounds, which is just twin strand security wire that you can pick up for £15 for 20 metres.

      That’s a good deal to go out on the deck! Yeah I’m in an apartment so I’m pretty limited it what kind of chemicals I can work with lol. But I do think there are some industrial water based contract cements out there that might not be too bad. Just the cost of experimentation lol.

    I find terrain usually comes out better for me if I DON’T plan or think about it too much. I don’t know if that’s because it ends up more naturally random that way or just because I’m so bad at terrain that even no plan is better than my plan. 😂
