I love Kylo Ren as a character, and I think the actor is awsome and perfect for the role
Personally I believe his fighting style is sloppy but he does look freaking awesome with his mask on
+FredX Gaming I would say so too,but the final sceen he was injured so... we will see how he fights after he "finnishes" his training, I felt like he was very weak and he was sort of made a little brat and he was sent away from his parents to learn to be a Jedi, since than he didnt saw them and anger raged in him, because he thought that his parents wanted to get rid of him, than snoke got to him and lied to him to make his anger even bigger, but it the film, he seams like he isnt sort off pushing it aginst his feeling so he is very weak to emotions like, care, love and all that good stuff, just snoke forced him into the anger and doesnt know how to control his emotions so he rages like a teenager... and I really thought he was like 18-20 in the movie and that so was Ray... it made me that impact hes a kid with family issues...

I would've preferred that kylo ren beat Rey, sure he was injured and posibly emotionally scarred after killing his father, but I can't take him as a serious threat now that Rey beat him.
Would be much better storytelling if chewie rescues Rey after kylo beat her.
That would give Rey another reason to find Luke and train so that she could defeat kylo. It would have also given kylo a much more sinister and badass tone to his character.

+Mikael Gustavsson I think the idea of having Rey lose to Kylo after a good fight and then have Luke come out and be the one to incapacitate Kylo would of been better. Then that would of given Rey more of a motivation to train under Luke to eventually fight and defeat Kylo in Episode 8.
I still thought Rey's character was great but that's a plot point that I would of adjusted.

He didn't lose in the first place, Rey knocked him over and ran away.

Well if you go by the ''Only one can live'' rule then no... No one won that fight. But Rey did win the duel. For one she did hurt him pretty bad. She didn't cut any limbs of but she gave him a few very deep cuts. Something that would have made he's fighting even worse. But he wouldn't be able to keep fighting unless he had a second Lightsaber. Something that i don't think he had. He did lose he's lightsaber. And it's based on that fact that we can say that she won. Once you disarm the one you're fighting you have won. Because there's not much they can do. If they where to attack the result would be death. The ground breaking apart might infact have been what saved he's life in the end.
+andvas1994 There are plenty of things a force user could do even if they get disarmed during a battle. If Kylo Ren wasn't in shock from his injuries and loss to Rey he could've used force choke on Rey even after the ground broke apart between them and could have easily taken Rey out.

He is one of the most complex Star Wars character in that he is rooted in the light side, and he wants to be independent from that. He was pressured into learning how to be a Jedi by his parents, and was unhappy, he didn't have his parents and grew to resistant Luke. He his father was a smuggler, and was foolish, his grand father however gave him inspiration, to grow away from the light. But he is hesitant, he isn't sure if he wants to go let go. His old life is clashing with who he wants to be, so he must make a choice. Of love or power.
But when he chose, he chose power. He completely tore himself from the roots up, and his force powers suffocated as a result. But now he can start rebuilding in the Dark Side, making him more powerful, and less arrogant then we saw him in VII.
So on top of

I don't agree with what you said about how they can't exist together. In the movie it was obvious that kylo and rey had some sort of connection. Kylo chose to reveal himself to rey, and no one else apart from han. When talking with rey his voice became so soft and cold. The way he reacted when the officer said 'a girl' And most importantly, in reys vision with the knights of ren, he SAVED HER. Watch it again. The person kylo stabbed was a member of the knights of ren who was trying to kill rey. Kylo prevented that from happening. The big question is, was that vision from the past or the future? Kylo did have his original mask on, but if he was slaughtering the temple they rey would have been younger, not looking the same age. We either got a sneak peak at kylo's future redemption, or his compassion for rey that he doesn't seem to let go of, and lead him to save rey previously. Kylo's connection to rey is also emphasised in the novelization. At first he thinks she's just a scavenger, and then begins to doubt his judgement. In the book during the fight he mumbled 'It is you'. They know each other. Kylo recognised her. Snoke also sensed his compassion for rey as he tried to hide it. What do you think it could mean? please do a theory video.
Here after TRoS. I think a lot of people forget that Kylo saves her in that vision. I think he ends up killing a person who is part of the cult on mustafar from what it looks like. Although it could be from an upcoming rise of Kylo Ren comic. Since he has the knights of Ren in the background, I think it's from the past, before they meet on starkiller and he recognizes her later on.
If he lost the fight, It's because he didn't want to kill her! He wanted her to his side because of her force! Simple.

i dont like the idea of rey turning to the dark side. her character throughout the force awakens was always to have her friends backs and help them out. she didnt even turn in bb8 when she was offered all of that food and barely had anything to eat. that says a lot about the kind of person rey is, and to me, turning her to the dark side would be a mistake because it basically destroys everything we already know about her and the kind of person she is.

+redneckmini14 Well Anakin was also a good person. He always wanted to save everyone, even random clones during battles. These are types of people that turn to the dark side, they want to have more power to save others but they end up finding evil master who changes them.

we slightly saw that in Luke in Return of the Jedi but I'm talking about a more of a broader scale like how Kylo Ren was fighting the call to the light, Rey should have a conflict as well but maybe starting in episode 8 then carries over to episode 9
nickmb1978 I was going to say, I'd like it to kind of switch between the two of them so to speak, it would be absolutely amazing and interesting if Snoke manages to get a hold of Rey and throws Kylo out as he isn't as powerful or something, then they reversed sides that'd be awesome. There is a really cool photo of a dark Rey and a light Ben Solo. Rey has a dark suit and a dual red lightsaber! It looks so cool! Then Ben has a green crossguard, however it has the SW rebels crossguard effect rather than the TFA effect. I personally prefered the TFA lightsaber blade effect IMO

Snoke said in the movie novelization that Kylo had compassion for Rey and needed "a reminder of the dark side," which I believe would have resulted in her being tortured and manipulated to to the dark side, but at the hands of Snoke, not Kylo. Kylo is protective of her from the start, and I don't think he'd allow it. If she is abducted the chances are high he'd actually defect from the dark side to protect her. Thing is, she has shown she won't be taken, controlled, nor manipulated by anyone. She escaped Kylo twice, and both times at her own doing. It's the strongest aspect of her character, and what makes an eventual relationship with Kylo possible. Because he won't be her master, he'll be her equal.
Kylo was not fully protective, compassion doesn't mean he won't do his duties.
I think Kylo and Ren would have used Snoke for his knowledge and like any good Sith apprentice they would have killed him once they were powerful enough.

I was actually kind of disappointed that Kylo lost. I was hoping it wild end sort of like Empire, with Rey losing a hand, but barely escaping his clutches.
The Dark Side is literally the opposite of who Rey is, she did literally everything for her friends and is literally the definition of good, so its highly unlikey that she would turn either way.
I think Kylo Ren will turn to the Light Side sooner or later again since he already felt a pull towards it in this movie and he was visibly weakened and traumatised by killing his father, so if Rey did turn to the Dark Side he might fight her in reversed roles.
If Rey did turn to the Dark Side and he didn't turn to the Light Side she would join Kylo and they'd overthrow Snoke because in the past the former Jedi and the Sith Lord who turned them seemed to have a pretty strong connection and if he did torture her into turning, I think that would pass as that. But I do see why she would join Snoke instead because she doesn't connect him with something bad in her life since it was always Kylo who tortured her and attacked her and almost killed Finn and all that. But still, I'd like it better if she and Kylo would work together sonce I'm absolute Reylo trash

I'd really like for Rey's saber to be yellow. I'm of the belief that her and Kylo are Bastila and Revan-like characters.
I disagree. I'd actually see a romance or friendship growing between Kylo and Rey, leading to the two of them overthrowing Snoke.
After that... I'd argue they would break with the series' black-and-white view on things, instead taking the middle road, drawing from both the light and dark side, and breaking with the dogmatic nature of both these sides. Or rather, that's what I would want to see.

The novelization suggests that Snoke was planning on torturing or killing Rey as a reminder to Kylo, to show him the dark side. Snoke accused Ren of failing to get the map from Rey because of compassion for her, not because she was strong enough to resist--that whole section of conversation was left out of the movie. This totally changes the motivation behind Ren's offer to teach, imo.
I really hope Rey doesn't turn to the dark side and i also really hope Kylo turns to the light side without dying afterwards
I stumbled upon your videos and they are so good(I have watched 10 already)! Your predictions before TFA came out were pretty accurate and you narrate and do your research well. I do wonder what do you think about the romance on the new movies? Romance has played a role in each trilogy. It will be interesting to see what you speculate.
Around 1:10 you say that the old Star Wars movies had massive repercussions to every saber duel. Mot resulting in massive swings of power from one side or the other. I don't think Disney and Abrams thought of saber duels this way. Lucas mentioned once that a saber duel was the climactic end, and a personal struggle, outlining the struggle of the movie.
I think she'd choose to be the Apprentice of Kylo Ren. He's easier to give Piggyback Rides to.

Kylo Ren will be the ultimate darkside user. Ren was able to solidify his commitment to the darkside by killing his father, a task that Vader nor Luke were able to do. (Luke not killing his father and Vader not killing Luke). In my opinion, the lightsaber battle between Ren and Rey should have ended in a draw. I find it hard to believe that a master of the knights of ren and a solo/skywalker trained at first by Luke then ultimately by Snoke would lose to someone who just learned about The Force. Also, I find it hard to believe that Luke would have let Knights of Ren just kill his students without a fight. So what does that tell you about the power they possess?
What I don't understand, and maybe you help answer this Wave, is how they go about deciding certain characters Force power levels. Is it blood line? Is it just a matter of master and commitment to training?

I think that Rey would struggle between the light and the dark like what we saw Ben struggling with during the force awakens, I think she would turn back to the light side in the end though. I don't think she could mentally do the things that Sith/dark side force users normally get commanded to do so I think she would be conflicted and eventually turn to the good side at the end again.
As a fellow Indiana boy, I can’t bring myself to go against Adam Driver. So I think Kylo should’ve killed Han & Finn, defeated Rey (who never even held a lightsaber before facing Kylo) and chose the moment to betray Snoke when he brought Rey as a prisoner to Snoke. Then Kylo would become the next Emperor. Rey can just die because she’s the epitome of “Mary Sue.” But Kylo eventually dies by the hands of Luke and Mara Jade and the New Jedi Order. Leia grieves. And maybe even seeks vengeance against Luke. The End……and the beginning of Luke and Mara’s campaign to destroy what Kylo/Ben have wrought and Leia fighting against them.
If Rey lost to Kylo ren, I think that Kylo's training would have been done, and then Rey would be trained by Kylo ren

I've been thinking about the possibility that kylo ren already knows who Rey is and I was hoping if you could look into this and share your thoughts. Since you already stated it was very possible that Rey was present when the padawns were killed that's one thing. Another thing is I wondered why kylo would have the reaction he did when he was informed that finn was on jakku and there was a girl with him. If kylo knew nothing about her then he simply would have no reaction, instead he gets enraged by it as if she means something. Then he meantions her to snoke, he has that father talk with her when looking in her mind, says he feels the same thing, somehow feels relatable to her. And finally the fact that as you said it never seems to be his intention to kill her but rather to have her join him, because he knows how strong she really is , her potential, because he knows who she is! My thoughts, let me know what you think.

Why does everyone say that Luke brought balance? He didn't. Balance is when left = right, in this case light = dark. Force is meant to be used equally because you can use dark side of it and not be evil. Jedi and Sith didn't want balance, they wanted it to be in their favor.
And he would have done had he not been nursing a usually fatal bowcaster bolt to the side. e was bleeding out the whole time, aggravating the pain to grant him power through the dark side. Rey's sudden and utterly implausibly convenient rally steeped in dramatic film cliche would not have saved her.
Well we must not forget that the rule of two doesn't count anymore. That was the rule of the old Sith Order wich Darth Bane made. Once Darth Bane was left as the only Sith left he did the smart thing. Only pass on he's teachings to ONE. And together they would help each others. Until one failed to do it for the other or the aprentice simply become more powerful or if the Master found an even more powerful aprentice. So ever since Darth Bane became the boss there where only 2 Sith at any given time. As soon as there came another one into the picture it meant one would die. Like when Darth Sidious took on Darth Maul and made him a Sith. That was the end of Darth Plagueis. And when The Emperor saw that Luke was more powerful then Darth Vader he wanted Luke to kill Darth Vader and take he's father place at he's side. And same goes for Count Dooku. When Sidious saw that Anakin was more powerful he set everything in motion for Anakin to turn to the dark side and take Dooku's place. But then Darth Vader killed Sidious and then died himself. The Sith are gone! So even if Snoke turns out to be a Sith wich i doubt he is. Well, then the rule of 2 doesn't matter anymore. If Snoke is a Sith he could make a new Sith Order win wich he is the master and he has several aprentices. Until one day One proves himself to be worthy to take on Snoke and kill him and take he's place. But again, i don't think Snoke is a Sith. Even if he turned out to be Darth Plagueis i still don't think he's a Sith. If he is Plagueis then i bet he would be so powerful then he wouldn't even think of himself as a Sith anymore. Sith are all about becoming more powerful. If Plagueis had achived ultimate power somehow he might view the Sith as inferior beings. And go ahed and form he's own order. The Knights of Ren in wich he places he's most powerful aprentice in charge of. What ever! I think we should just throw that entire rule of two mentality out the window now. The idea of there being as many or more Dark Side users then Light Side users is very interesting. We haven't seen this on film yet. So would love it if they did something like that.

But sure there are plenty of things Kylo Ren could have done to won the fight. But Rey won the fight. She beat him on all levels. She beat him in the actual fight. She grounded him. And she beat him on a mental level as well. Hadn't the ground broken apart she would have been in her full power to kill him. And since she's not grounded by any Jedi code what so ever she wouldn't be breaking any code what so ever. Because even if she is a Jedi she has no memory of it. Kylo Ren lost that fight... She overpowered him. She beat him the duel and she used the force to overpower a hurt Kylo Ren. That's something you can't deny.

If we really are going to mirror Empire with the next movie, that means that Rey and Ben will duel again, both better trained, but I do think that Rey will lose this time around. It will be bloody, but she will be beaten.

I see Kylo at the end of VIII at the top of his game, massive setbacks for the good guys, and likely a humbling defeat for Rey (fatherly mentors have a habit of dying in this series so maybe we'll even lose Luke too). IX will be a regroup, Kylo Ren getting a last-minute redemption and Snoke's defeat. At least, that's what I predict if they play it safe.

Great video. She would have joined Ren gotten rid of Snoke and they both would have ruled the galaxy and 2 things would have happened. She’d Either rule through Ben like Lady MacBeth or she’d bide her time and get rid of Ren. She’d either kill him or arrange for his assassination.

The Jedi Temple Guard created the cross guard lightsaber and gave it to Ezra then Ezra join the dark side and become kylo ren......and he change the crystal of his lightsaber into red
Even if Kylo and Rey teamed up they would have no shot of overthrowing Snoke or being remotely close to competing with Luke. Great theories though.

I think Kylo would use Rey and together over through the Supreme Leader. Cause we all know Sith are the best double crossers. Or Rey would just be enlisted in the Knights of Ren
And I had my own prediction that if Rey lost against Kylo, kylo will know teach Rey on how to use the force probably and they might be leaders of The First Order

I'd say rey technically won. true, kylo ren was hit with the bowcaster but let's not forget he also threw rey into a tree and she dropped say, 20 ft to the ground and passed out. they were both pretty injured before they started the battle but in this duel, rey won.

And her defeat does not have to result in her going to Snoke. He could defeat her, but he succumbs to his own injuries shortly after. The MIllenium Falcon and Chewbacca flies in and rescues Rey while Hux retreats with Kylo.
