I love what you say towards the end about how being technical is pointless if you have no creativity. it seems that there are a fair amount artists care more about being "the fastest rapper" or having "the fastest guitar playing" but they sound really boring and uninspired. and then their fans think that being technical is the only thing that matters and you're tasteless and like bad music if you don't like those artists.

Kieran L Hungry in rap terms means that you can hear a sense of urgency and a willingness to prove themselves on a track. Hopsin back when he first started sounded different than now, obviously artists evolve, but after finding success any artist loses that initial edge. Eminem is a perfect example.

He has dissed guys like Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Tyler The Creator (probably only one out of those he should had not dissed is Tyler, because he is actually a great rapper. Wayne had like one good album and now he's trash, Rick Ross is bad but not complete trash and Drake is a fucking disgrace and an embarrasment to rap and music in general). Hopsin, to be honest, was the first rapper I really got into. I've always been a rock/metal type of guy and wrote off rap just because of the shit you hear on the radio. Then a friend shows me this guy and I'm hooked, tracks like hip hop sinister, the ill minds, blood energy potion and stuff like that made me an instant fan. Since then I've looked much deeper into rap and really enjoy the genre now. I'll always love Hopsin because he introduced me to the genre , but I understand where people are coming from. Songs like Fly are literally cringe-worthy. That being said I think his flow is absolutely top notch and his lyricism is absolutely killer. It really helps if you just don't take him too seriously and have fun with his music.

I'm a Hopsin fan because I like his sound, his flow, and his ability to make emotional songs. Believe it or not, his "deeper" songs weren't always shallow, hypocritical disasters like they are on this album. Raw actually had some great stuff on it, including Heather Nicole and Where Will I Go, which are still some of his best songs to date. With that being said, it's impossible to disagree with anything Anthony said in this review. He gave Hop credit for his technical skill, then told us everything he dislikes about the album and Hop in general. And it's all true. He is a hypocrite. He is bitter, corny, and lacks taste and class. And while I've always loved his more cartoony image and profane, sometimes childish yet satisfying lyrics, there's no way to deny the fatal flaws present on Pound Syndrome. Hopsin thinks he's better than everybody who doesn't live exactly like he does, and while that in itself isn't totally wrong to think, it's definitely not very intelligent to put those feelings into songs. It worked wonders on Ill Mind 5, but songs like Mr. Jones just feel painfully bitter and give off a negative "I'm better than you because I made it big and you didn't" vibe. Not cool.
Overall, I still enjoy Hopsin's music, and I like quite a few songs on this album. But there are so many issues with the way he goes about voicing his opinions and philosophies. I still love his quirkiness, but he's got some growing up to do. But considering he's over 30 years old, I'm not sure if that'll ever happen. Who knows though. Maybe one day he'll finally learn and put out a project that not only highlights his tremendous lyrical ability, but also manages to avoid being preachy, corny, bitter, and having a disgusting sense of a superiority complex lathered all over it.
Anyways, this is a great review. It's very critical but for good reason. I used to be a hardcore Hop fan who loved everything he did but I'm finally starting to pick up on some of his bullshit. He's got a ton of appeal, but he needs to change. Fast.

FLY might be the funniest song I've ever listened to. It literally couldn't stop myself from laughing as he delievered lyrical gems over and over, such as "the best kind of marketing is marketing that don't feel like marketing." Golden.

Hopsin started out alright, the first 2 or 3 Ill mind of Hopsins or whatever were ok and he showed somewhat of a nice outgoing personality. In terms of lyrical technicality he's not bad at all. But just because you have bars don't mean you make good music. And his last few projects have been awful and almost unlistenable IMO. He has one record that I like on the album, 2 or 3 decent ones and the rest were skippable.

I really do appreciate everything this guy has said, and I generally DO NOT agree with him on most perspectives in these reviews, just because I personally feel like he doesn't take into account an artist's PERSONAL history and motivation for why they made their productions in the first place...IMO, he critiques hip-hop in a way that will generate the most controversy while holding onto the overall opinion of the community. However, I think to truly appreciate his philosophical and religious takes on this album, you have to have had a similar experience of your own, or at the very least, take into consideration how HIS life has changed due to the forces that govern our lives everyday. It is very deep, which most people find annoying, or undeserving of mentioning in songs. But that's the beauty of creativity, it's internal expression of the soul. Maybe to most you haters, it does feel overzealous. But what Hopsin did do really well, which TND failed to observe, is that he makes you think about your own personal standard. Whether you feel this album or not, the dude has a creative ingenious to him that makes you reevaluate EVERYTHING you encounter. I for one think this album is a classic and I can appreciate his emotional outbreak on the record.
