To be fair Rev Rad was a step in the right direction. Mastering was awful but it had some great concepts and writing. I was hoping they'd follow-up with a deeper album, not a robot and network outtake shitpost

...speaking of Out for Blood, Sum 41 released a new album last year that was not that terrible. Weakest album in their discography by far IMO, but definitely far from being as bad as Blink-182's new album or THIS atrocity.

Clacking Computer I thought so too. They had it right with tracks like Bang Bang, Revolution Radio, somewhere now, forever now, outlaws, but the ones that fell flat really fell flat. I thought they would take all the great things they did with RevRad and make something better but.... damn was I wrong. This album makes the entire Trilogy sound like gold. At least those albums had a handful of gems.

@s t a r It's one thing when it's trying to make a statement about the trashy American school system, another when they talk about themselves without trying to play a character or put any nuance or spin on it like they did with Jesus of Suburbia
I mean, I kind of get it. I'm in my mid 30's and most of my most relevant (and typically darkest) memories are hung up in high school. Lots of things I never got over, lots of things I may never forget or get past. If I was a musician I would definitely be writing about those topics. Everything after that period is just kind of emotionally dead and hollow since my soul was destroyed in that small time frame. I'm completely stuck there.
The weird thing about pop punk bands like this is that they're actually scaring off younger audiences. These songs are clearly for other middle aged people that never moved past it.

Rock is one of my favorite genres and punk is one of my favorite sub genres of rock, and this album blows. I’m not even a Green Day fan and I’m pissed. How could someone even support the band after they basically take a fat shit all over their fanbase, the same fanbase that is quick to say ‘oh well it’s just ONE BAD ALBUM’. Like really? Ever since ‘Uno, Dos, and Tres,’ they have legit been nothing but a husk of what they used to be. Some would argue and say that since the 21st century, they have been nothing but a shell of a band, trying to not only move forward in a directionless path, but also try to ‘stay true’ to their long gone punk rock days. Everyone and their mom knows that you can’t move forward if you don’t let go of the past. Idk what’s worse: the album, or their brain dead fans who think this album is anything remotely better than mediocre.

I love how Green Day went from being some eccentric out of the box anti-establishment punk rock kids to basically the musical equivalent of gatekeeping.
I know that people come here to trade their super witty hot takes, but this observation doesn't even make sense. How is making a really bad album considered gatekeeping?

If there’s one thing I absolutely hate it’s extremely polished punk rock
There’s arguably no elements of punk rock in this album, this is like (as mentioned in the review) a bizarre lifeless mix of early 2000’s “garage revival” aka Jet / The Vines with the most cliche sports arena pop bullshit played out somehow unironically while acting like it’s counter culture. Can’t even imagine a band with their game couldn’t see how far up their own ass they went.
This isn’t even punk, this is car commercial music

Swedish songwriters have been really influential in mainstream pop for the last 3 decades, that’s what it’s referring to. If you look up a lot of the big pop tracks chances are a swedish producer was involved.

@@rockkiller124 a NOT GOOD is an album that had no potential and was a bad idea to start. a 0/10 is an album that could've been a good idea but fails on every conceivable level. 0/10's are albums that people expect better from, nobody expected Nostalgia Critic's The Wall to be any good (other than the middle schoolers who don't know any better than to be fans of Doug). NOT GOOD's can be better or worse than a 0/10 because it's not really a solid score.

I don’t actually hate the album itself it’s just the fact it’s from Green Day that makes it hurt so much. I mean one of the greatest bands of the early 2000s turning into a bootleg Fall Out Boy.
My favourite band by far. Normally I would really get triggered by reviews like this but I can’t even be mad that people don’t like it. I hated the whole thing at first. The second half grew on me but that’s about it. Easily their worst album by a long distance, a small blemish in a fantastic career.

For a record called "Father of All Motherfuckers" this record certainly is terminally safe.
Green Day are somehow still under the delusion they're edgy. They do their best to maintain that image but you have to ask yourself who do they think they're fooling?
Nothing good has happened since this album came out. This album is the reason why 2020 is so bad.

We Remotely Low I was thinking the same thing, I still have that moral crux album on CD if I remember it came out mid 90’s so Green Day was still in touch with the scene at that point.
