Welcome | 0:25 Meditation | 26:03 Talk: Releasing the Habits that Imprison Your Spirit
Addictions of all levels of intensity arise from disconnection and are spiking globally. Humans are experiencing epidemic levels of loneliness, and this combined with engineered products and substances that are highly addictive leads to great suffering. In these two talks, we explore how we get hooked on behaviors that we know cause harm, and how mindfulness and self-compassion can serve our freedom. Key to this process is reconnecting with our inner life, and remembering we are in this together, awakening together.

Your life sounds similar to mine. From a wounded childhood to drugs to eating disorders to boarding schools to ashrams to recovery and healing to becoming a healer in mental health. We should get together and have tea sometime! Oh! And I grew up in Maryland and Virginia right around Washington DC. And I turned 70 this year.

Thank you Tara. I will listen to this one again. I fell asleep early on but woke midway, and through to the end was so point on. The aversion to self is compulsive when there is so much inner pain and turmoil. Thank you for all you do to help the collective heal. I have a question…Does it feel heavy? And if/when it does how do you let go of the weight of all of it. For a moment knowing I’m not alone in this, that the entire world is also affected eases the loneliness, eases the weight of the individual shame but then it just feels heavy like a massive pandemic and it’s effects are so utterly harmful. So much so we don’t even know or see it fully. But when seeing a small bit of the harm caused that second arrow hits hard.

The way you mix western psychology and science with eastern spiritual science gives you a perspective that few have. Your sincerity and first hand experience makes you a great teacher and guide. This media platform is a great resource for those seeking valuable information thanks to generous people like you. Namaste.

The talk is not balanced, too much about addictions not enough about love and compassion
