Thanks Dave! Well, this tent is for me. I bought it and spent a trip in it already. The inner tent is nice and high, yet not too spacious to waste heat in the winter time. It is also strictly a one person tent. Nobody will try to sneak in. Might be welcomed by some, not for me! To have to vestibules in wonderful in lousy wheather and in the winter. I do kayaking and that comes with a lot of extra gear. To be able to change into the damp kayaking gear when it is cold and raining outside is worth a lot. The tent is also great for people who like to sit upright in their tent a lot. I do this for meditation, reading, and cooking. All in all, I have always waited for a tent like that. Yes, it is quite heavy but the body adapts. Better to have a strong fort when the winds come!
This is a brilliant motorcycle camping tent. The weight isn't an issue when strapped to a motorcycle and the twin vestibules are great for getting all your kit and panniers inside.
I was initially sceptical about the proportions but I suspect with use it may well become the perfect balance between ample storage/cooking space and a nice cosy sleeping area. What I do like is Nortent continuing to bring interesting designs to market that challenge how we think about tents.
Nice review. I can see a porch full of a bike or packraft as you say or maybe winter climbing gear. Would be a nice place to be after winter routes in the gorms, the co or Nevis north face.
Hi Dave, love the content, my camping days are sadly over but I still miss it, I have gone over to the dark side and have a touring caravan but it still gives us access to the great outdoors. Cheers.
Hi Dave I bought this tent reason being it's got 2 8:52 vestibules handy for me and my dog ....also be great for my fishing trips and when I've got loads of camera gear I do loads of astro/aurora photography.....I'm never far from the car these days so the extra weight will be no problem ...yet to test it but I'm sure I'll get the chance soon lets hope it stands up to the orkney wind cheers atb
I'm trying to justify the tents existance. I'm thinking design of function. A bit quirky, different, but for me it doesn't fit anything that I would use it for. Side note if I was paying that kind of money I would expect it to come seam sealed. Great vlog Dave ATB 👍
Completely agree on the idea of a larger inner. I'm 6 feet 6 and have a large dog. I'm looking to get into wild camping with him and love the head height of this tent, but there isn't enough room for me and him in there atm.
@@Fellmandave1 It's possible, but I must admit to really liking the appearance of the Vern 1 and 2. I've watched your vids on Vern1 and am just starting on the Vern 2 series now. That cold night on the mountain certainly tested the Vern 1 beyond what I'd hoping to do! Great to know it is capable though - great vid.
@@AlienApe. The Vern-1 isn't big enough for a larger person and a wet medium-sized dog. Not in the inner anyway. If you remove the inner then it is big enough.
For where I live, having 2 entrance points makes a lot of sense because of wind and rain. However, the lack of space for me & my dog in the inner means that the tent isn't for me. If they do have a modified inner in the future then I'd certainly consider it.
Perfect scout leader tent, extra kit, personal kit and sleeping space! Bonus for me would be my dog is only 8kg so plenty room for me and chewie👌 shame the long haired General doesn't understand the need for another tent🤷 ATB Dave👍🏻
Nice video, and the pronunciation was pretty good too :) One question, though. How did you find it length wise? I am about 5cm taller than you, with pretty large feet (31 cm or perhaps a size UK 14 or 15) Do I remember correctly that you said it might not be suitable for people 6'3" and taller?
@ringperm I measured the inner to be 207cm. So you could measure this out. The steep walls help, maybe marginal for you but depends if you are a side sleeper. I was fine for me. Only one way to find out. Thanks again for commenting.
@Fellmandave1 aw mate I mind our interactions from years back. I'm just getting back into it. Was gonna seek advice off of you cause you take your dog out. IMO, it's a horrible design and for a 1 person tent, unnecessary vestibule space. Quite heavy too. Keep up the vids mate. Great tent reviews.
Nice one-person tend. The marginal extra weight being justified by the tent's extra space - or FOOTPRINT. Gourndsheets for the vestibules are ideal too. Great bikers tent for sure. Leave the bloody dog at home... The very idea of sleeping in a backpacking tent with a dog is my idea of HELL. Not forgetting the extra weight of the dog food....
Every video now you make seems to be trying to sell people stuff. Seeing alot of this across outdoor channels and its getting quite boring. Just go camping and use your gear rather than turning it into a shopping channel.
@iamchriswhelan Yes, that's true, to an extent, but, on the whole, it makes no difference to me whether they buy it or not, except through affiliate links. Then I earn a bit to finance my hobby and family. That's a good thing. It genuinely interests me to try new stuff and to share it Most viewers are interested to see new kit. It gives me a lot of satisfaction when they say, they have bought it and enjoy it. This has always been a sharing information channel. But, Chris, I get your point and agree to an extent. However many things I share, I purchase myself and when off camera, I am doing just that, using the gear and camping. I enjoy the whole process, but I am sorry you find it boring. There are plenty of channels with blokes just going camping. At this time, this channel isn't that. Thanks for commenting. You have a valid point..

@BhavaSindh sounds ideal for you buddy. Well done for being an early adopter.
Greetings from Norway! Great video. And your pronunciation of "ly" is spot on. The word means "shelter", so it does what it says on the bag 😂
@onkelheming cheers, feels awkward, but I'm trying. Thanks for commenting, I hope I can visit your beautiful country some day.
@@Fellmandave1 You're very welcome. There's some great hiking to be had here, especially in the mountains.

@tnetroP couldn't agree more. It's a while since I've had a bike, but can just picture it.
Love these drone shots 👍🏻 very good! Looking forward to the tent being tested in the wind on this next video 👌🏻 top vid Dave

@AndrewParkOutdoors Yes, winter climbing, excellent suggestion. Cheers Andy.
Enjoyed seeing the tent in use. Reminds me of the Wechsel Pioneer 2, it looks very similar.👍
@dudleyclements2736 Aye, similar external appearance, but a very different door and internal configuration eh.
what great contribution.... excellent - thanks for the efforts..... superb!
So nice of you to say so. Thanks

@greyhikes5236 your wish will come true, they are being sent seam sealed now.
I agree, a 1+ tent is the way to go, there are so many tiny 1 person tents and so many 2 person. I think the option of a 1+ inner would be perfect.
@@camping_guru_uk Nice. Watch this space. I hope they aren't too annoyed with me!
Great looking tent. Also love the look of that head torch - I can't stand "white" light so a warmer setting is a great feature.
Totally agree Hedley. Sorry, keep costing you. Good price on Aliexpress though.

Yes!

Thanks
It should,yes.
Yes, it works on the Vern-1.

Shocker of a tent at that price. Genuinely think it's awful and they went out their way just to make a different design.
