Should door weatherstripping with push pins have adhesive? I have a 69 Ranchero, the old weatherstripping didn't look like it had any.

Hey Fred, we responded to the other comment, but want to respond here as well. When installing door weatherstripping with pins, each pin should line up exactly with the holes in the door and should fit securely once pushed in. It isn't required to use any additional adhesive, however, if you would like added protection for your seal to stay in place, you can certainly use an adhesive made for weatherstripping. We recommend the 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. We don't recommend putting adhesive on the pins themselves and strongly encourage a test fit first to make sure the seal fits correctly with the pins in place before applying any adhesive. After the test fit, if you need to remove the entire piece to apply the adhesive, be very gentle when removing to pins to prevent them from pulling out of the rubber. If a pin does come out, you can glue back in place on your rubber using Loctite 495.
If you don't see pins in the old weatherstripping, they could have fallen out over time or when you took it off, or it may not have been installed with pins previously. If your door has holes for the pins, then any new door weatherstripping you buy as an exact replacement for your year, make, and model will have the pins included in the correct places. If you need additional help with this install, please feel free to contact us directly via email or phone. Thank you for watching!
