    Great video! I also happen to be working on replacing the window regulator in my 1st gen Dodge Ram, and decided to go ahead and replace all the weatherstripping while I'm in there. So, it's nice to have a reference for general tips and tricks for installing the weatherstripping. Keep up the good work guys!

    When inserting that vent window rubber, coat it with Armor All... slips right in beautifully. :)

    I used a fine wire wheel chucked in a drill to remove the old weather strip glue. Using a light pressure just to remove the glue and not remove any paint.

    Thanks for this vid' !
    Even previous to installing my new weatherstripping on my '82 F100 (V6 3.8L 3oT), the drivers side door many times would not close all the way as you showed us !
    Now it really needs a massive closing slam. As you mentioned, at first I've been thinking the new weatherstripping is just puffy. But have noticed when opening the door from a solid closure positioning that it seems to feel like the door is dropping down/off a latch a bit.
    So been thinking maybe latch(es) need some realignment, and will now also confirm the exterior body alignment first, as you mentioned ! Hopefully a bridge' you mentioned (possibly on a '82 also) was not damaged decades earlier from accumulated "closure stress".

    Thanks for posting a video about the '67-'72 F100 weatherstripping! Good tips. What are your thoughts on adding some '73-'79 weatherstripping around the inside of the door? I know it's not stock for a bumpside, but it probably would help seal it up from water and whistling...wouldn't you think?

    Insightful video, it's funny, l used to have a 69 Mustang and watch your videos for information. Now, l have a 1984 F150. Quick question, I installed new door seals, but both sides close, yet doors seem open because rubber is to thick. Any suggestions?

      Check door fit first. The kit we got is a little stiff, but workable.

    I still have a rusty floor I need to fix and I'm wondering if it be better to fix that before putting the weather strip in

    What do you do if the seal pushes the door out too far?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 роки тому

      That depends. If it is like our door, check for correct alignment. Some weatherstrips are not the correct type of rubber and make the doors hard to shut.

  • @justinkrause5129

    Did you have the closing issue before the new stripping? Once I replaced mine, thats when the closing issues began.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 роки тому

      Well, they were mostly missing when I bought the truck so I can't speak to that, but after adjusting the alignment today they are shutting a little hard, but completely.

    Nicely done! BTW why did you install the weatherstripping before painting the interior? I would have thought it would be easier to paint then install the weatherstripping.
    Also, you’ve got a nice battery collection going there! 😁

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 роки тому

      Good point! I just went ahead and did it because I am tired of the draft and wet seats. The correct way to attack that would be all paint first then weatherstrip.
      I am about to get rid of any of those batteries that don't wok

    I have no idea if anyone would see this but i have an issue (apparently a lot do aswell) with the fitting. Apparently really new weathstrips are too thick for the door to close fully. People told me to just keep it shut for a couple of month or use a heat gun to fasten things up. Any other suggestions/ideas?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  2 роки тому

      I agree, the weatherstrips are way too heavy a rubber. Nothing I can think of helps. NPD did a different type for the Mustangs and it made a HUGE difference, not sure they will for the trucks.
