Good job on the tutorial…FYI for everyone else there is an Australian company on UA-cam making videos covering these same tips. I like the fact that you covered the powder coating aspect. I want to paint/coat the chrome trim on my 70’ Nova

Great video. I just did the vent windows on my 68 Beaumont (similar to the Chevelle) and instead of grinding off the stainless rivet that holds the window hinge together and replacing it with a nut and bolt as you did, I drilled out the two rivets where the hinge attaches to the frame. They are hidden once the window is reinstalled. After the window is restored, I rivetted the hinge back to the frame with aluminum rivets. Worked quite well.

Thanks, good info. One tip I found useful was in getting a 52 Chevy apart, I used a propane torch to lightly heat the window frame and the 71 year old butyl rubber softened and allowed me to pull the glass out of the frame with little effort and no glass breakage.

I found that spraying it down well with PB Blaster and then wiggling it allowed the lubricant to get in there and cause things to separate.

You can get the window apart without cutting the rivet. Just did a set.

I’m trying to do something different on my impala. I want to do a vent window delete. I’m sure it will give a cleaner look. But don’t know how to replace with full glass. They have a vent window delete kit for the chevelle. This video is great info though

The black rubbery tape that goes in between the glass and the metal frame is called window setting tape. You can get it just about anywhere and it comes in different thicknesses. I used 1/16" thick from rubbertherightway.com
#2 Window Sash Channel Filler / Glass Setting Tape - Black Rubber 1/16" Thick [#10-044X]
      Quantity 10 x $3.85 = $38.50

Looks good but I wish you had a step by step video showing your actual tear down and rebuild process since I need to replace gaskets/rebuild my vent windows.

I know. I used to make videos like that. They were 10X the trouble and would get 300 views and then disappear forever. I just couldn't justify the work to make videos like that because so few people on the internet want to see them.

Have you ever tried cerakote? Ceramic coating that you spray and bake. Very durable. You need a iwata spray gun which is expensive.

Thank you for your video. I went to take my pivot spring off and the stud broke off about half the length. Any suggesting on repair the vent window pivot stud?

I'd guess either a very talented tig welder or a reproduction part.

Sorry, but no sir. At this point I'm just trying to finish my own car and I'm 4 years into it. Read the comments though. I'm pretty sure one of these people said they provide this service and do it for a living
