    Thank you for including the developmental stage these disorders occur. Bud Cap Bell. I am an RDH in 4 states now studying for my 5th set of boards. With age my interest in really understandng developmental anomalies where, when, and how they occur, has become important to me. Early childhood abuse including in utero (drug use of the mother spousal abuse domestic violence) can and should be recognized, and documented to protect mother _ child from violence and violent histories. Thank you for making my studying easier and rewarding. thank you for helping my knowledge base and cognative skills for recognization.

    Hi Ryan,
    in a different video you had mentioned the order for congenitally missing teeth as : 3rd molars > max laterals, mandibular 2nd PM.

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Felicia, thanks for your question. I made a comment in that other video that that was the correct ranking for the UK. The order presented in this video is correct for the US and what should you know for the board exams.

    Hello dr ryan, just a clarification. You mentioned dens in dente is a defect in cap stage (in video 1), but it also falls under anomalies of shape in video 2 (which is a defect in morphodifferentiation = size & shape abnormalities). I appreciate the clarification. Thank you in advance.
    And all the rest of anomalies of shape disturbances occur in morphodifferentiation?

    Hi Dr. Ryan. Always thankful with your lectures 🙏🏼.
    I have a question,
    Dentin dysplasia and Regional odontodysplasia are both a deffect from histodifferentation stage?
    Thank you in advance.

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +3

      What a great question! You are exactly right, DD and RO along with AI and DI are a result of an error in the histodifferentiation stage.

    What kind of doctor do I need?

  • @laranguyen1940

    Hey Ryan! Regarding the mesiodens, when would be the best time to extract it? Some say is as soon as possible others say it's after ⅔ to ¾ of the permanent tooth root has formed (to avoid damaging it). What would you say?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +7

      Excellent question, Lara! I would say it depends on the situation. If a mesiodens is inhibiting development of eruption of other teeth, interfering with orthodontic movement, developing pathology around it, or erupting into the nasal cavity (it can happen!) then I would lean towards extraction. If a mesiodens is not interfering with eruption, orthodontic movement, has no pathology, and is asymptomatic, I would lean towards observation.

    • @laranguyen1940
      @laranguyen1940 3 роки тому

      Thank you for your answer Ryan! Let’s say it requires an extraction when would it be as soon as possible or wait till the root of the permanent teeth (the one the mesiodens is obstructing) is formed at least 2/3 to 3/4?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +1

      @@laranguyen1940 If it requires extraction, I would take it out ASAP.

    hi i have a problem here because you are saying dentin dysplasia type 2 has chevron pulps but in dental decks said type 1 has chevron type pulp chamber,thanks for helping

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +1

      Dentin dysplasia type 1 affects the roots, whereas dentin dysplasia type 2 affects the crowns (causing chevron pulps).

    So, if the permanent teeth arise from the deciduous predecessors, does that mean that children with missing upper B will also have missing upper permanent laterals?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +3

      Great question! Missing primary teeth are very rare, but if a child is missing a primary lateral it is very likely they will be missing the corresponding permanent lateral for that exact reason.
