agreed, it's cool he's doing this and all but 1 throw per disc isn't really that helpful, there's too much variation between throws even for a professional for the results to be useful
Preach. Sure, it'd make the video a bit harder to film, but that's just what it takes to make good videos. As it stands, the lack of hustle shows in the quality of content. When he says "Well, sorry guys. I threw that one kind of poorly. Oh well!" I just roll my eyes and think "seriously dude? You can't pick it back up, throw it again, and edit 5 more minutes of video?".
@@sean9223 Ya I'm not being critical it's free content, but as everyone knows if you're unfamiliar with a disc, you need to learn how to throw it properly even for a pro. The height the Annie or Hyzer, the flight path for optimal distance. you should just say hey I've thrown these a bunch and figure it out what works for me, this was the best or average or whatever. For guys like Drew I imagine that would take five times or less.
Great coverage, but for a little better on flights I'd like to see you get used to the disc to know what flight paths they take. Then you could see wich one you could actually throw further.
@@Christopher-Lenz He could always throw them the day before and figure out the optimal flight path. I mean if he gets 10 drivers and it takes him five times Max to figure out the optimal flight path idk if that's overkill not for a young pro
I've been playing for nearly two years and I just went out and did some field work for the first two times this week - thrown flat I found out I throw 4/6 of my drivers the exact same distance - turns out I'm not ready for anything above a 9 speed yet
I think it would be a lot more interesting to give each disc multiple throws and average their distances out. Say like 10 throws each. That way the winner would be the disc that you CONSISTENTLY throw the farthest.
Another great vid. Love this style of vid. I like that you throw them the same way for the most part. I can see the more under stable stuff an old guy like me needs. If you adjust for the disc “ would see you completely crush them all “ it wouldn’t tell me what I need to know as a consumer. Thanks for the work you are putting in 👍🏼
Thats pretty interesting, Im really noticing the difference in arm speed between a pro's and mine. Just now being able to get a decent snap on a 12 speed, actually really cool to watch your form in general. Keep up the content man, I'm lovin it!
Great video. It looks like the hardest part is throwing so many different molds that fly different ways. That snap when you throw is so nasty. Everyone tries to copy the destroyer , that proves how great it is.
I think he said that because the first run of 2020 Ricky destroyers literally had a recall becuase the 175g ones were misweighed and actually we're haeavier than 175 enough to be over pdga weight limitations. My local shop was taking them back and giving new ones out and then sending the recalled discs back to Innova.
@@JonReid01 I wish I could send my Destroyers back to innova... Inconsistancy is an understatement,,, as for the weights being wrongly declared, thats just wrong,,bad quality control or outright deception,, I believe I have bought my last innova disc several months ago... no more....
I like the content a lot! Most of it is terrific. A small suggestion is similar to what others have said, I would suggest throwing each disc without a camera so you are guessing on what they'll do. Keep up the good work and good luck in tournaments soon!
Thanks for the video Drew. This is definitely helpful to see how a wide variety of molds play out in the right hands. Some of the turn overs were a surprise as well as the solid performance of the Streamline and MVP. Looking forward to more vids!
I appreciate your open bag, it gives you the rare ability to give a pro’s unbiased perspective on a variety of discs, can you do a “versus” type of series where you take popular discs (roc and buzzz, destroyer vs force/zeus, etc) where you compare different brand’s discs that are direct competitors for a spot in your bag and maybe give some insight into why you bag what you do?
I was excited to see the Raider throw but I couldn't follow the line in that color.. Regardless cool series. Wouldn't mind hearing more from you and your feedback. Funny stuff 👍
A spotter against the fence is ideal. He can run up to Drew's throws quickly and have a reading in half a minute. Maybe post placards in the field two-feet high for 400 - 450 - 500. Like the content, keep throwing bombs.
Fantastic camera work. Saw those discs fly. Throw each disc again. Correct for their relative stability. I bet you hit that fence a few times. I can throw a Destiny almost 500' with hyzer flip. I can only get a Zeus out to about 450', and that's with some serious anny and favorable wind. Two very different discs at my arm speed. I own and have carried at least a half dozen of each in weights from 165-175.
One thing I would like to see in disc review videos, is throw at a target not just in a open field. Even if the target was a bag or something. So we can see how close you got to it. Distance and accuracy. I dont know food for thought. Sill I like the vid. 👍🏽
Less than above tree top releases would have been great, airing them out doesn't show a solid flight. However, a 10-15 degree angle above horizon line released flat would be, epic. Probably would have gained you much more distance... . ... ....... I'm asking for a release that doesn't go much higher than the fence line out there. Would be sweet! Not hating here, but control, power, and spin.. with angle control can go and go, and go.
It'd be more interesting if you threw them the way they're meant to be thrown. That takes multiple attempts. Besides, I think this shows distance drivers is a plastic lottery in terms of glide and stability. He hyzer-flipped a brand new destroyer into a throwler....
I want to see a long distance contest with you, Eagle, Simon, GG, AB, Ricky and Mc Beth. ( I know I am forgetting some bombers) One contest, 5 discs thrown. (you guys pick the discs) Add total distances. And another same 5 discs thrown by each contestant,(players have decided as a group which 5) Add total distances.
With the sticker on! Maybe a couple practice throws so you maximize each one? Don't worry bout the haters, Drew. Keep throwing the sh** out of those discs and inspiring us. Fantastic opening slo-mo shot.
I’m pretty sure the Destroyer he had was the Older Ricky one’s. Unless he has stupid power and threw the newer run. If that’s true then dang that’s a lot of power.
Relatively new to your channel so forgive me if you've answered this before but, do you find after you've thrown all those discs at max arm that the last couple get a fair shake?
I feel as if these aren’t the most accurate competitions. I feel like you should spend some time with each disc get 3-5 throws in and get an average distance. That destroyer throw did not seem half as concentrated as the Zesus throw. Like wise it felt like the trace and grim you really focused on throwing. We appreciate all the disc golf content and look forward to seeing more!
Also a competition for “best” driver would ideally include other factors than distance (how forgiving is the disc, does it hold hyzer/annie, is it flippy, does it work decent if us mere mortals throw it with less power, etc)
Do you throw the discs before you video tape them? If not, will you review the footage and make adjustments and throw them a second time. Maybe let us know what adjustment your making and compare the throws. Longer videos and it gives you a chance to throw the disc for optimum performance. Thanks, your ball golf buddy.
You can make some people happy half the time. It's impossible to make everyone happy. That's why I quit trying to make anybody but myself happy. I'm the most important person I know. Right?
Legit question. In your putter challenge you threw 500 feet. Maybe if you really rip a driver you can go 600 feet. So why do pros throw distance drivers? Is it mainly the shot shape? I know it is quite common for them to throw putters for control on certain holes. And I get that rollers work better with drivers too. Anyway, just curious.
