450+ is just wild to me. I’ve hit 400 twice and I’m usually 350-375 if going max distance. I found this video really helpful! I hope to get consistently get 400+ soon 💪
Sure, but ultimately, the mechanics to throw 300ft and 500ft are the same. Eagle McMahon throwing 700 feet isn’t really doing anything different from when he throws 300 feet. It’s just a matter of getting down the proper mechanics, putting them all together, and consistently practicing. If you give up simply because your warmups aren’t the same as his, then you’re never going to be able to throw 500 feet, because you have to throw 200ft before you can throw 500ft.
I was trying to hit 475' for the longest time. The single biggest advancement I made was when I decided to throw off a cliff with a ripping tailwind. 250' gained instantly lol problem solved! 😁
dude i cant tell you how helpful it is to have you around statistically attacking real time problems and splitting them in days instead of all at once, my adhd brain cant handle when its all crammed into 5 minute videos and not slowed down so i can see what's being changed. Thank you for being so unique in your approach.
I’m super glad you get to play disc golf for a living. I hope you thrive. You’re bringing good stuff. I can only play 30 to 36 holes a day. I have to have something to watch that makes me love the sport as much as I did earlier today when I saved a par, saved a bogie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, then pars a couple boges, and a double boge on each 18 kept it fun, but nothing to brag about.
Not only is the content of your videos so good and well researched, you are also just a really good filmmaker. Editing, colours, choice of music, camera angles and so on... it all fits together so well
Some of the things that helped me throw further is fixing my plant foot, if you look at videos of eagle and paul mcbeth you can see their plant foot is extended pretty far out then when they are starting their drive their left knee drops and their plant foot stays perpendicular to where they are throwing until the disc leaves their hand, which is HARD, but I think thats really all you need to work on. Hips are everything, the left knee dropping when starting the drive is probably one of the most important things about throwing far.
So here's my take on stuff to consider! 1. You aren't incorporating momentum too well, you sort of stop your run-up when you go into the plant (probably in part due to 3.) 2. You're trying to work the legs and the arm at the same time. If you look at pros there's a more pronounced delay between the lower body turn and the arm swing. This is actually a really complex one since it's the underlying technique that creates the correct sequence 3. You're pretty far on top of your bracing leg instead of behind it
He turns whole body too much away from target like going backwards when taking steps when It's should be more sideways and only upper body turns when "reach back" . If you look that back leg heel is pointing for target when it should be pointing more side.
I have actually waited to watch this video until now, I told myself I would watch it when I was getting close to 500, and here I am with my longest throw being 484, averaging around 430. Home stretch, thanks for showing the way!
Your videos about learning is something I've unseen before. I found this extremely helpful, since I'm the one who has been stuck within 450-475 ft distance for years. I also know my flaws, but breaking fully my form to get more consistent distance and accuracy is something I've been reluctant to do because of the time it takes. These inspires me to maybe even do a schedule like you have in these videos. I find your every throwing related videos EXTREMELY helpful for EVERYONE. I've never seen progress videos before and your time and effort for these are remarkable. I'm so thankful for it on behalf everyone who is focusing more on improving their game. Okay now to throwing: Every pro has some kind of flaws with their technique, why is that? It's because the best knowledge wasn't there when they've started. They have evolved their own technique to the point where there's no effect on rounding (MANY far throwing pros have this when they're going for controlled max distance). This is what I've been asking alot myself and like to you do as well. I've thrown over 10 years, so is there really an issue with rounding in terms of accuracy and distance? Have I implemented my technique to the point where it doesn't matter, like most of the pros? To the second question if the answer is: Yes -> Don't change it too much, focus on committing the shot and disc selection. Capture alot of shots, know when you throw a great shot, see what you do right and compare it to most of the "bad" shots. Try to get that feeling as much as you can when keeping on training. At this point it's more about your individual physics and movement of the muscles, technique varies to others because of that. Might be more to it also. Okay then if: No -> Change more, take best parts of knowledge available and do the same, implement to your game and body. So take more progress related approach like these videos. Reason for your dipping which makes wobbling: Your elbow is moving different line compared to reachback and pullthrough (when disc starts movement forward and continues until release). Would love to see where you fix this and what it does, since it's pretty easy fix for a short term, but hard to remember on the course though. Other video suggestion I've a huge urge to see from youtuber: Hitting gaps better! This would include footwork and footwork lines on the teepad (notify viewers in what direction your disc wants to go on standard footwork without selecting different footwork line. By footwork line I mean for example starting from right corner, moving towards left corner in teepad etc), stand stills and body positions, release angles and some disc selections Keep up the great work! Absolutely one of my favourite channels, and can't even imagine to typing this kind of text to any other channel
This is incredibly kind Tuomas! And I appreciate the time and care you put into this comment! Definitely taking some notes from what you said.. Cheers! 🔥
@Tuomas, i would say with those distances what you said and consider your Metrix rating you should focus more putting or up shots because i'm around 400 ft with my drives and i had almost same Metrix rating (before winter weeklies) and there are many holes that i can't reach close enough because 400ft ish drives.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 Yup, been working with putting and forehand (never thrown any before last winter and finally for the first time changed something from push putt) this past winter. Focusing on more commitment and less changing things since on practice rounds I've just mixed up my game. I can already see results, and after many years I've found interest to focus more about improving my game. Last 4-5 years I've been just throwing :D but now I feel refreshed when I've found out all the missing information
@@tuomasrytilahti247 Missing forehand is also disadvantage. Even you can throw anhyzer or overturning shots. Many times forehand is just better especially if you are of the lane under tree working forehand makes huge difference. I have had both from start (weaker fore though) and recently thrown a lots over hand throws which also improved my game.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 I can definitely agree with that. I can see improvements with my approach game finally after reaching decent 200ft forehand. In past 8 years I've been using just my lat64 river for turnovers and anhyzer mids. Now I've made myself thrown alot of forehands and I can see difference. It's very refreshing!
I really wonder how much altitude and dry air makes a difference, when I lived in Arizona I could throw about 50-75 feet further. Now in Illinois especially when it's humid it's like my disc is flying through soup
@@shiftonephoto I do not, I may have met him in passing. If you want to chat, and maybe plan a round add me on Instagram KTdisc_golf, I literally made it yesterday
I played this course when I went out to Denver. As a player from Charlotte that plays mostly short technical courses this place was definitely a wildly different experience with just large open holes that you gotta throw bombs on if you want a shot at ever throwing under par. My average drive is only about 225 so I did not have a great time. It did really show me I need to develop my distance throws more.
I’m going to use a measuring wheel and UDisc. I average 300’ under control, if my release is on line. I throw my drivers exactly the way they ought to go. Some discs come out of your hand at a weird angle. Makes us think we threw it bad. It’s really all about the disc. You have to know that disc, and then it seems like it knows you. I talk to all my discs, and they respond. Weird. I know.
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf awesome. I might be out there around New Years this year! Living in Florida is was interesting to play in a small amount of snow last time.
Day four are you throwing in altra trail shoes? Unless you have super wide feet where they fit snug I would look at trying a pair of shoes that fit tighter and more like as extension of your foot. If you look at Olympic shot put and discus/ hammer throw shoes they’re glued to the feet to make sure there’s as little loss of energy from the ground and through the foot. Ik it sounds minor and silly but with that being where the kinetic chain starts I would try wearing something where you can crank down on the laces to where your foot has zero room to slide around inside or shift around because the upper isn’t that firm/rigid
It's always easier to point out flaws in others so thanks for putting yourself out there. Something I've learned is i need to slow down and focus on my feet first. As Scott stokely said, the whip starts with your feet. So I really focus on my feet first and then everything else follows through. It feels better and has put me from 320 to 435+ averages. Worth a shot
How exactly does one focus on their feet. I'm sure it is one of my many problems, but I have no concept of how to see the problem and make what changes need to be made. (Btw I struggle to even break 250 with anything)
@@jonathananderson9280 one of the most helpful things is to film yourself. Then start to look at form and make small adjustments like Jesse talks about. It can get overwhelming very quickly so just focus on one thing. I would also recommend using a putter instead of a driver. Putters show us our form better and force us to throw cleaner. As for the feet. I would say watch Scott stokelys video "what is snap?.." He breaks down timing issues really well. I hope that helps! Also dont forgrt that disc golf is all about having fun. So don't stress, you'll get it.
I’m probably at 350-375 or so. I may have had a little more distance but I’ve tried to smooth my throw out some and I’m no longer just throwing hyzer flips. So I’ve lost some distance but the shots are more reliable now. Someday I’ll put it altogether 😂
I was at the same stage recently then i started to learn bracing better, a easy thing that helped was to push my body forward with my left leg after the 2nd step in xstep right before planting otherwise u loose the momentum u build from a runup. when fixed this i went from 375 avarage/400 max to like 435 max, also the off axis torque fixed by not rolling the wrist after release.
I honestly think my biggest problem (that also leads to me throwing nose up a lot) is I dont follow through. Because of a major reconstructive surgery on my lower right leg (eventho it was a while ago), I subconsciously wont allow myself to pivot on my right foot when I swing. Im too afraid of slipping off the front of the box/pad or trying to pivot and having my body move but my foot stay still. I also gotta remember that im kinda ancient when it comes to disc golf at 35 lol.
I've just starting getting my shots to the 380-390 mark. I'd love to hit 400 one day, and I hope it's soon! Also just bought one of your flight towels, can't wait for it to come in! Finally, a good use for a Groove ;)
I’m in the sameish boat, I threw 380 once, then was trying to fix my form to get that consistently, and now I’m consistently getting 340s on average shots and maxing around 370
Its all about that bracing to hit over 400. Attacking the shot, stop your body from going forward by slamming the heel down and rotate your dingle/slingshot arm around you.
For me personally, the change to 400+ drives was definitely about plant foot and reach-back. Simon Lizotte talks about it quite a bit. When I was able to master a wide rail, far reach back and placing my plant foot much further in front of me, it was a game changer.
Bro. This video made me want to go do field work at 11:23 pm. I’ll go tomorrow, but I need to throw in a field. I’ve felt this coming on for a while, but I’m okay with trees, but I’d like a little slice of life with only a few trees far far away!
I have the exact same off axis torque problem and I can't figure out for the life of me how to fix it.😅 Any extra tips or drills you did to help iron it out?
Great video as always! Love your editing style aswell. I totally agree that sticking to one thing for week to even a month is only way to fix those problems and to find those problems you need slow mo film yourself. From 350 to 400 i got by planting further to left cause i was going too straight so i didnt use my hips. Now my footwork is dialed but I noticed I tend to dip the disc while doing so called reachback and do this stupid swing which makes me to slow down. Keeping disc on same line back to front gave me 40 feet more so im currently sitting at 440. Im still focusing on that but after that i try to approach the front of the tee little bit lean back since it helps to stay balanced and not fall over and lose the power from the feet. Maybe after those I start speeding up. 450 feet is my goal for this year and maybe 500 next.
Dude, I put all my effort in just to throw around 350-400 ft and you're over here throwing 470+. That's amazing, 450 is my ultimate goal. Last year I tried so hard just to hit 300 and now I'm already throwing past that, hopefully I can continue making progress. You just got a new sub 👍
I'm wondering if the way you lock out your lead (right) leg on your brace is intentional? Wondering if even just a slight amount of bend there after your transfer of power from left leg push off into right leg brace might be helpful. You throw further than me and your release is fantastic I was just a little curious about that one part of your swing. May also help in injury prevention but I know too little about that to really say
Something I noticed in a lot of top level pros is that they really push into that front leg and try to really straighten it out as they push though. Watch a max distance shot by Simon and you'll see that there is a bit of bend in his front leg as he plants it and then it looks like he is really working to get it close to straight. It's not quite locked most of the time but definitely not extremely bent either.
That's exactly what I was going to say. That brace at the last second is what transfers the energy, so just fixing your follow through to where it goes around your pivot instead of through your pivot will bump distance. Just think about like you're planting your foot on the edge of a cliff, and you really don't want to fall off lol.
Yo I got the same problem I’m focused on the reach back and other techniques while throwing which blinds my body from the correct timing of the throw almost like I’m trying to throw it with no confidence and my weight shifting forward to soon
Jesse congratulations with your achievement!! Excellent final throw with that 360 approach. I am hooked with disc golf and just started with the sport less than a month ago. What are your recommendations for beginners for maximum success and minimal bad habitats?
I’ve measured >500’ at Fehringers hole 14 a few times last summer but haven’t been able to break 450’ since! My bombers that I used to flip up are now flying noticeably stable. It’s so frustrating! Thanks for these awesome tips hopefully I can get back to form with them! 🤙
Nice video. I too often try to put everything toghether and not train one specific thing at a time. I just came back from training focusing on my legs and saw distance improvement and less pain in the arm :), thanks.
Great video, love the daily focus! One thing you might try is to plant your right foot perpendicular to the target rather than pivoting on that foot as you throw. It creates torque that transfers up to your hand. Can't hurt to give it a try. Good luck. Keep up the great videos!
If I had a tip for the leg portion it would be look at professional javelin throwers. They use their plant leg to take all the power from the lower body and transfer it to their upper body to gain distance. I used to throw javelin and got decent at it but the thing that helped a lot was learning to plant the right way. Obviously javelin throwers plant their foot pointing forward and doing that in disc golf would not be good but we can take a note from that sport and transfer it. I noticed once I started planting better in my run up for disc golf. I wasn't using my arm as much to get the same distance I had before. So once I had the lower body figured out and was comfortable a full power throw for me went from 300 ft and hurting my arm after 20 throws to 350-75 very easily and comfortably.
I’m at about 350-370 stand still back hand. Been playing a year and a half and have yet to start using a run up. Maybe try a few stand still throws to really look at form?
What I saw was your weight falling forward through your shot, watch McBeast slow mo and see how he keeps his weight really balanced and centered throughout his throw. Great vids man keep up the good work
This video was really entertaining and helpful to watch! Im really stoked to try and do a one week at the time improvment on different areas. If you got the time a really helpful video would be short on what these kind of areas would be and how to help improve them. Once again, great video! 😍
Awesome video as usual, Jesse! Love your content!! Regarding distance - I’m super stoked - tomorrow is my full day seminar with Scott Stokely. Can’t wait to get some truly pro instruction. I also have a Flightowel - I like it for warmup okay, but as a towel, it’s awful IMO. Not nearly absorbent enough - just spreads the moisture around on my discs.
Thank you! Excited to hear how the training goes!! (Super interesting because I absolutely love their towels as towels.. Maybe the material changed at some point, but the ones currently are perfect!)
I'm chasing down that 500ft as well! I though I had a pretty good understanding to the form, but this video opened me up to some new things that I've never heard about before. Getting really close to beating it!
Just found this video that is sort of a new concept for me; I haven't seen any other videos similar than this 2 part series so I'm excited to try it out. You might find this 2nd video helpful in terms of release point and foot plant. ua-cam.com/video/_hF0GwwNgsg/v-deo.html
Just some small issues with timing and reachback, also you are always flat footed on plant foot, it should be from toe to heel. You could also look into the wide rail throw if you are really into changing your form, as you are a more compact bodytype. Anyways, great video!
Your form is great, I’d watch a few videos about reach back. You don’t want to reach directly behind you as it seems you’re doing, but more out to the side. That way you don’t have to throw around your body, but through it.
Real problem is that he is turning whole body when reaching back not just upper body like it should be. It eliminates hips rotating totally when whole body is turning not just upper body.
what would you say is your biggest tip to getting rid off OAT. i never realized how much OAT i have until i watched this. my max every thrown is 460ft and i’m really trying to find out if it’s my strength holding me back from the 500ft range or something wrong with my form/ throw. i’m only 17 and i’m 6ft 120 so i’m super skinny i really don’t have very much strength at all. hopefully i can get to that 500 range!! your videos are awesome man
I am fairly new and I don't throw nearly as far as you, but for me the key to improving my distance has been partly about applying lots of Thumb Pressure at the right moment.
How do you keep the nose of the disc down so well on release. I feel like my wrist has a hard time staying flexed down to keep the nose down (or flat), so I release it nose up slightly and lose distance.
Honestly I'm not totally sure. It might have to do with hand placement or weight displacement.. but I haven't had that problem in recent years, so I don't know. (Maybe some people who are smarter than me could help advise here!)
Love your content bud. Such a great presentation style, I feel part of your journey :D I'm curious because I didn't hear you mention it, but what's your thoughts about modifying the flight shape/path, and just chucking some more elevation and turn over for a full flex line?
Thanks man! My goal was to get 500 ft relatively flat (with a gentle S-curve). Personally, I know I can get the distance with a huge flex shot, but that's not necessarily what I'm going to find on most courses.
My drives suck but if I throw a high anny flex it looks like I kind of know what I’m doing. I tell all of my noob friends to try an anhyzer line and they just keep hyzerin it up. I feel like exploiting the flex is like wing chun. Having power and then exploiting the flex (or flip-up, (whatever gets the flight looking like it’s going to turn too much and then barely fade)) is like being Bruce Lee schooled in wing chun
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf wow. Kudos to you! That puts things a little more into the right perspective for me. Im still a relative newbie and I'm thinking I might rely on the flex line a little too much (spending more time in the practice field than the course lately). I can pump 500 feet with a little wind assistance and full flex, but ill work on hitting that (even just 450) on a flat/hyzer instead. Keep up the great work TP, much love from down under 🦘
I'm by no means an expert but this is my take on your form. Looks like you're not engaging your hips as much as you could. You can see this because your back leg is kind of "left behind your throw" rather than tucking behind you right knee. This means that you're not getting the maximum rotation, but you are more "pulling the disc in front of you" which a lot of people do. Watch how active the back knee is for the longest throwers out there (Eagle for instance is great at this). You can also increase rotational efficiency by having a more active non-throwing arm. It is also "left behind the throw" and it is of course related to the knee. I like to comparing a normal door against a revolving door, the latter being the more correct way of thinking. Just focusing on the knee or the arm can sometimes work to trick you into getting a better form. But I may be completely wrong...
Overthrow disc golf has a video about the brace that will help you generate power through your legs. Basically its not about pushing off your back leg because you cant do that if its not in the right position to provide rotational force. So what you do is get your feet in the right position and practice snapping your hips through. If you get this down you will then be able to practice charging off that back foot to add additional rotation speed and boom 500'.
Awesome video! Given you're already better than the vast majority of us it would be cool to summarize the key things you've learned to date. Like...lessons for Jesse 3 years ago lol
I heard some pro once say that you should start pulling the disc at the very moment your plant foot hits the ground. That has helped me get some extra distance, and you should also try it - you seem to start the pull quite late.
interesting video, thanks. my best in 3 months of fairly constant play is 298. my goal is 400 ft within the month. I already thought it was doable, but now I'm positive. time to go practice in the freezing rain.
Its moments like giggling at "and there's one specific hole I'm pretty excited about..." That makes me realize I'm never growing up. Its too late for me 😂
Nice work man. Furthest I've ever gotten was 360'. This year my goal is at least break 400' once but to try to do it consistently. Throwing 400' would open up so many birdie possibilities on my local courses.
Try not to finish too far in front of the tee pad. You want all the energy to go into the disc which will result in you stopping your momentum and the disc flying forward. You may finish with one foot in front of the tee pad but you shouldn’t be falling or jumping forward. Also, when you look at the film when your throwing arm (right arm) comes all around to your backside make sure it goes past your left leg that is still lagging behind your body. That last part is what makes Double G such a good distance thrower, back leg stays behind until the throwing arm finishes all the way behind you.
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf nice. I have been playing in ax3s and lone peaks off and on the last yearish. I really have liked them. Thought about picking a pair of the hikers up for actually hiking as well.
After doing this what type of disc would you recommend. I’m thinking slightly understable. I can throw just under 400 and I want to be able to consistently throw 450
Understable hyzer flip. Took me a few years to appreciate a hyzer flip mainly because I didn't have the release speed for the 12-14 speeds I was throwing 200 feet back then haha
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf wer watched those and they are insanely helpful but trying to remember what you form is like while practicing is rough .. your form is pretty much the same every time .. the leg swing around and the base foot work might be helpful to other and definitely us.. the other video did cover a lot but missed your foot work .. anyway .. thanks for doing the stuff you do and especially in the short and condensed packages .. some people draw out proper hand holding in a 30 minute video and most people lose interest and tune out .. again thanks !
Jesse, curious to know how elevation changes your distance. From your experience, what is your average/longest at lower elevation? Thanks for the video! I'm using this as my template for next week!
Absolutely! Based strictly on experience: it's not terribly different. Personally, I grew up throwing in CA and I didn't notice an increase moving to CO! (That said: seems like the general consensus is that thinner air means further throw.)
I want a flight towel!! Everytime I try to get one of yours they're sold out. 😂🤣 I'll have to take another look 🤔 Well it says on the site they restock tonight. Fingers crossed I can get it🤞
Apologies John! We're working on another restock, but it will be a few weeks. (Best suggestion: follow me on Instagram/Facebook and I'll post before it goes live!)
Man I’m in 250-275 ft range (for over 20+ years). Just a plateau I never got past. I don’t know how people can throw literally twice as far as me with no problem
What are the shoes at 7:50? They seem like they wouldn’t be great for disc golf but also they seem like they are bendy! I just don’t recognize them which is weird also! You really huck a disc man!
Great video ...I throw about 350ish maxed out i lost a lot of distance over the years I was 450+ I have been working my short game lately I play mostly wooded courses and don’t need distances often
You throw 100 feet farther than me but I'm over 50 so... Two things I noticed about your form that Danny has videos on (I think). First, your x-step is almost correct. The upper body should not rotate into the reach-back until the back foot is planted. Until then you should just be walking sideways. You're rotating too early. Second, I think you need to brace harder. Drive everything into the front foot and rotate on your heal (as you do). See slow-mos of Garret Gurthie. He generates so much snap and disc speed and a lot of that, I think, is because of his brace and keeping his body weight behind the front foot. Good luck.
I think if you want to throw far, you have to practice good form so much that as you speed up it doesn’t change. You won’t throw 500 ft without runnig up quickly and putting all of your might into it. 500 ft is the max for most pros.
Had my first 500ft throw a couple days ago, if anyone is struggling just now that having a disc that gets a flip to the right for an s curve can make so much difference. Also make sure to fully extend your arm out when reaching back. I’ve only been playing for 7 months, so it’s possible for anyone.
@@TheHatchet2 watch form videos, everyone has subtleties in their throw, whoever some aspects of your throw should be common with every distance thrower. Also I used a beat in I-blend pharaoh from infinite discs.

How to throw 500 FEET in JUST 1 WEEK!
Step 1 Throw 475 in warmups...
THIS.
This x9000. I stopped vid and laughed when I heard that.
FR😂
Sure, but ultimately, the mechanics to throw 300ft and 500ft are the same. Eagle McMahon throwing 700 feet isn’t really doing anything different from when he throws 300 feet. It’s just a matter of getting down the proper mechanics, putting them all together, and consistently practicing. If you give up simply because your warmups aren’t the same as his, then you’re never going to be able to throw 500 feet, because you have to throw 200ft before you can throw 500ft.
Great video as always! /Jonathan

Anyway, love your content. Keep killing it.
Haha gotta love it! Stoked you snagged one!
Really like your breakdown snd weekly plan. Its a great idea.
1. You aren't incorporating momentum too well, you sort of stop your run-up when you go into the plant (probably in part due to 3.)
2. You're trying to work the legs and the arm at the same time. If you look at pros there's a more pronounced delay between the lower body turn and the arm swing. This is actually a really complex one since it's the underlying technique that creates the correct sequence
By footwork line I mean for example starting from right corner, moving towards left corner in teepad etc), stand stills and body positions, release angles and some disc selections
Keep up the great work!
If your in Illinois and wanna play a round lmk, depending where you are it may be doable if your not far from dellwood
@@kaseyturner1283 oh yeah definitely, I live 15 minutes from dellwood 🔥 You probably know Troy then lol.
Weird. I know.
Way to do some of those @discgolfstrong warm-ups!!! Awesome video as always!
Was Day 5's course Westcreek? I happened to play there when I was visiting some friends a few years ago.
Yessir!
Not weird at all! I've actually heard this before and it makes sense. The only problem: I have super wide feet.. lol
Thanks Sean! I'll definitely give that a go!
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf you're still throwing farther than I am so maybe I should be taking note on your form haha
Always something to learn man!
Yewwww! Keep crushing it! 👏 and thanks for the support.
What would you say helped you the most to correct off ais torque I have the same issue. (Current max distance is 450)
For me personally, the change to 400+ drives was definitely about plant foot and reach-back.
Damn.. incredible progress! Excited to hear back when you hit 450 🤘
Great tip! Thanks Jordan. I will definitely look into that!
The brace is what transfers the energy to the disc.
That's exactly what I was going to say. That brace at the last second is what transfers the energy, so just fixing your follow through to where it goes around your pivot instead of through your pivot will bump distance. Just think about like you're planting your foot on the edge of a cliff, and you really don't want to fall off lol.
Yo I got the same problem
I’m focused on the reach back and other techniques while throwing which blinds my body from the correct timing of the throw almost like I’m trying to throw it with no confidence and my weight shifting forward to soon
I throw about 200 feet these days. I'm jealous.
Not trying to make anyone jealous.. Hopefully it can help you go from 200 to 230 or 250!!
Been playing for 20 years still only throw 280. Not sure I can fix 20 years of bad form.
@@PevYT I'm in the exact same boat
I'm definitely gonna get one of ur flight towels. Love your channel dude. Glad this sport is growing.
Great tip Raymond! I always love the parallels and things we can learn from other sports.
I think I throw like 300 lol. I don't really care much at the moment. I just like to get outside sometime.
Same bro 300 is good enough to just go out and enjoy the game 😁
I'm part of the 300 club, with an occasional 350.
I feel the same way until im playing a 1200ft hole or a 500ft par 3 then my 300-350 arm is not so happy lol.
I’m at about 350-370 stand still back hand. Been playing a year and a half and have yet to start using a run up. Maybe try a few stand still throws to really look at form?
Great vid. Your pull-through and follow-through look better and smoother. Sweet pup sleeping under your chair :)

Thanks Chris! I'll try that next time I'm in the field!
Really cool video! First time watching you and I will be looking out for more tips :)
This video was really entertaining and helpful to watch! Im really stoked to try and do a one week at the time improvment on different areas. If you got the time a really helpful video would be short on what these kind of areas would be and how to help improve them. Once again, great video! 😍

Love the content Jesse! Keep up the good work!
Threw 500 for the first time two weeks ago after a decade. Excited to see if you can match
Stoked it helped Raymond! You got this 💪
I'm wondering: doesn't you stepping towards the target after your throw mean that some of the power gets lost for the brace?
Based on other comments, it seems that would be correct. Going to give it a try!
Just found this video that is sort of a new concept for me; I haven't seen any other videos similar than this 2 part series so I'm excited to try it out. You might find this 2nd video helpful in terms of release point and foot plant. ua-cam.com/video/_hF0GwwNgsg/v-deo.html
Dude - your form is getting smooth 👍 keep doing what you do 👍👍
🙏
Just some small issues with timing and reachback, also you are always flat footed on plant foot, it should be from toe to heel. You could also look into the wide rail throw if you are really into changing your form, as you are a more compact bodytype. Anyways, great video!
Your form is great, I’d watch a few videos about reach back. You don’t want to reach directly behind you as it seems you’re doing, but more out to the side. That way you don’t have to throw around your body, but through it.
Thanks Isaac! That's something I've been working on recently. Maybe another video lol
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf Cool! I'd love to see another video on form.
@@becauseisaac I never noticed I did this until I filmed myself. It's a crazy difference throwing more away from your body
Real problem is that he is turning whole body when reaching back not just upper body like it should be. It eliminates hips rotating totally when whole body is turning not just upper body.
what would you say is your biggest tip to getting rid off OAT. i never realized how much OAT i have until i watched this.
my max every thrown is 460ft and i’m really trying to find out if it’s my strength holding me back from the 500ft range or something wrong with my form/ throw. i’m only 17 and i’m 6ft 120 so i’m super skinny i really don’t have very much strength at all. hopefully i can get to that 500 range!! your videos are awesome man
I may make a video bout that in the future!
I am fairly new and I don't throw nearly as far as you, but for me the key to improving my distance has been partly about applying lots of Thumb Pressure at the right moment.
Why does this look exactly like ACC in CO?
I can hit golf lines consistently around 320-360. Cap out distance around 380-400. Hope this helps
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf I guess I'll just have to go watch some more disc golf content to find out ;) (oh noooo)
where did you get your fisherman beenie i want a few. Also I love the edits and commitment
Super helpful! Thanks for the tip 👌
Big fan of theirs! Unfortunately, since it recently came out, I saw it after I had completed the 7 days..
Awesome video! Given you're already better than the vast majority of us it would be cool to summarize the key things you've learned to date. Like...lessons for Jesse 3 years ago lol
Thanks Jake! Sounds intriguing!
I heard some pro once say that you should start pulling the disc at the very moment your plant foot hits the ground. That has helped me get some extra distance, and you should also try it - you seem to start the pull quite late.
Will do!
interesting video, thanks. my best in 3 months of fairly constant play is 298. my goal is 400 ft within the month.

All of these were max weight. I opted to use what I already bag 👌
Yo, TP - all of your flight towels are SOLD OUT! Nice work ;) - I'll be sure to check back later and pick one up, looks like a great tool.
We're working on a restock, but they keep selling out QUICK!
Trash Panda at the ACC. This is the same place I used to field train.
Thanks for the feedback Cam!

Exactly! My wraith took the cake, but the Giant and Ballista were close seconds. I would go for stable to slightly understable!
Understable hyzer flip. Took me a few years to appreciate a hyzer flip mainly because I didn't have the release speed for the 12-14 speeds I was throwing 200 feet back then haha
But that's just my opinion. I'm not a pro or anything
So would you throw just slight hyzer

Jesse, curious to know how elevation changes your distance. From your experience, what is your average/longest at lower elevation? Thanks for the video! I'm using this as my template for next week!
Absolutely! Based strictly on experience: it's not terribly different. Personally, I grew up throwing in CA and I didn't notice an increase moving to CO! (That said: seems like the general consensus is that thinner air means further throw.)

I throw maybe 250 on average and I've been playing for a year (ish). I'm in awe of how some of you folks can throw that far with such ease.
@@TheHatchet2 watch form videos, everyone has subtleties in their throw, whoever some aspects of your throw should be common with every distance thrower. Also I used a beat in I-blend pharaoh from infinite discs.
