It's not about the whiskey, it's the people you share it with!

I am a Knob Creek fan (especially the KC12) but then I finally bought a bottle of Baker’s 7 (mine was an 8 year 0 months) and I have changed my mind. I’m a Baker’s fan.
Baker's 7 was the one that got me going down the rabbit hole, it'll always be backed-up.
I have both 1783 and Jim Beam Black 7 yrs in my bar.... And enjoy both.... Keep going back and forth which one I'll have Neat for an evening sipper.
Was pulling for the Knob Creek, but oh well…. Fun video to watch. Going to Beam Distilling in a couple of weeks. This was a great primer video for the visit. Cheers Jason!
Just got my hat. ***BONUS*** It came with an autograph. If it didn't looks so good I wouldn't want to wear it. Thanks for all the dope content over the years and the cool hat.
Thanks for this match up. These are all available in my area, good to get your take on these.
Awesome quadruple bass 👍
I haven’t found Baker’s in my area but the other 3 are all favorites of mine. The 1783 is all sweet oak to me. Knob Creek is my favorite bourbon outside of specialty bottles. I got the new Jim Beam black after your last video and I’m pouring some right now. Great video. Cheers!
I really like your reviews. Your profile is close to mine, so your early reviews of bourbons really helps me out with what to buy or not buy
Another great video! Thanks, Jason!
Jim Beam Black was a regular my go-to when I first really got into bourbon. Time to circle back on it. Great content Jason.
Nice. As always, I love your confidence in assessing.
Just picked up the New Jim Beam Black, it is delicious
I bought the 1 liter last weekend and I think it’s amazing for the price. I’m a Jim beam fan and I love it! Can’t wait to try it with a cigar. Love the reviews and would love to see more Ohio whiskey reviews, keep up the great work!!!
Great head to head, thanks Jason
These are all great! Great quad bass Jason!
I have an unopened bottle of JB Black 7 (purchased earlier today.) I'll be trying it out tonight. ($20.00 here in Ca.) The only other one I have had from this blind is the 1783. I'm a bit anxious to get into it after your blind.
For the algorithm
I got a bottle of the JB 7 and like it.
@@dans3294 I'm very happy with it.
I love both the Evan Williams and Knob Creek selections and drink them both. I'm encouraged to try the Jim Beam Black 7. I have several other Jim Beam selections and found the Devil's Cut to be my favorite; however, not over EW or KC. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and refined palette.
Great video, love the bottles you have picked to compare.
Love Bakers 7 and KC 9. I get these at Costco for $48 and $28 respectively. I'll try the JB Black 7 at some point.
Another great and informative video. I identified all 4 pours but thought your order would be Baker's, KC, Beam Black, and 1783.
Always great info and recommendations! Cheers!🥃👍🏻

Now I'm really wanting to try the Beam 7 since it blew the doors off my beloved Knob Creek 9 in this blind! Out of all the bottles in my collection, that's the one I'm reaching for the most, so perhaps I'll have a new favorite daily sipper?
I wouldnt say it blew the doors off. But all 3 aside from the bakers were pretty close. The knob is more classic while the 7 and EW have some other interesting flavors.
What do ya know, I called the exact order! Great video. Double Bass Recommendation: Sagamore Spirit 8 year Rye vs Prideful Goat 8 year Rye
Love the KC9 but the EW 1783 was a pleasant surprise for the money. Will pick up the JB Black 7 and give it a go.
-Only have owned KC 9. Staple
-Have an Evan Williams 2014 Single Barrel Vintage (43.3%).
-Had a sample of Bakers 7 & quite enjoyed it.
- For an actual Beam I've only had a dram of their Standard White Label.
Would be happy & content with another KC9, or my own Bakers 7. VERY happy with the newly cracked EW Vintage.
Thanks as always for the video, Jason & Cheers
I need to check out that JB 7. I just (finally) picked up a bottle of JD BiB Rye...love it.
Was sipping on the Bonded rye earlier tonight. Great bottle, especially for ~$33.
Great matchup. Thanks Jason

Love the quadruple bass blinds, and would enjoy more of these. Can I suggest pairing the Bakers 7 against Jack Daniels single barrel. That would be a good head to head.
Greaat review. Ill have to see if I get strawberry in the EW 1783. I always get a nice oak.
Just picked up a JBB7… 100 proof usually is my minimum except for a few pours like 1792SB and OF1910. The JBB7 is so easy to drink, great flavor, very well rounded, sweet, that delicious JB nutty profile, and just viscous enough to be an easy going “daily” bourbon. 7 yrs for $26, I’m sold. A new staple for the liquor cabinet.
Love seeing that Overholt I sent you front and center on your barrel!! Haha. All of these bottles are a buy for me. Haven’t tried the new Jim Beam though. Cheers
Great review!
Love Bakers! And excited to check out that JB7 as well. Another great video!
Nice content Jason
Picked up the Jim Beam Black 7 Year today for $22. Will check it out tonight or tomorrow night. 🥃
Always really liked the Baker's 7 and the tasting notes I get out of it. Another single barrel I really like is the Wathen's; its a lower abs but think its a great pour and reasonably priced.
Awesome review
Great video and lineup for a blind. Cheers!
Just bought the Jim Beam 7 year last night and it’s great for the price. Definitely going to be a regular for me as a simple, daily drinker. I imagine it will do well in a cocktail. It’s not excellent. But I’m not always in the mood for a big rush of flavor. Sometimes you just want a good, simple bourbon. 👍🏼
Great review Jason...cant await to try the new Jim beam Black 7 yr and Bakers has always been a fav of mine
Looking forward to trying the JB 7
Great video!
Nice! I'll have to try this matchup once I find the new JB 7 year.
Haven't tried the jb black yet 🤔 . Good review and video 👍😉🥃
Okay, so I picked up a bottle of Beam 7 Black today. It really hit me like Benchmark Top Floor. I didn’t get the Beam nutty flavor, just buttery. The finish was a tad bitter, but could be barrel char. Top Floor doesn’t have that bitter finish. Compare those two and see what you think.
Great review🥃👍
Great video as always!! It was going to be tough for 90 proofers to beat a 107 but they put up a fight!!
Great matchup Jason
Impressive. I will be looking for a Jim Beam 7 yr. Almost not fair to compare with the Bakers due to proof difference but I understand why you included it.
Perfect review for me. I like Knob Creek and have been wanting to try Baker’s. So now, I will…
Fun episode 😃🥃
Recently saw a first phil episode about building a great 5 bottle scotch collection for 300$ or less- would love to see you put together something similar, but, you know, with American whiskies (bourbon, rye, malt, etc).
I just got the new Beam 7yr for 23 here in Louisville. Not over 25 anywhere around here.
I picked up the JB 7 today. Unfortunately, the only size they had was the 1.75, so I hope I like it! I find the 1783 a bit sweet for my palate.
Great blind!!
I'm always on the lookout for a new bargain pour. That 7yr seems to be getting a ton of good reviews. Hopefully it's stays findable.
The only one I don't have here is the Evan Williams. Agree with your order. I think the proof really helps out the Bakers.
I picked up the JB7 for $19.99 @ Sam's Club after I saw your review if it. I haven't opened it yet but will soon. Great match up here Jason! Cheers!
Feeling great today! 🥃
HAha I do the blend too, when I'm done tasting they all go into the blend bottle and get used in cocktails, never a bad sip. 😊
This one shocked me. I love KC 9. I haven’t had any of the others. Been meaning to pick up a Baker’s.
I picked up the Jim beam black Friday night. Really like it think it delivers the way above its price point.
Moment when you said strawberry I knew what it was)))) I'm not a huge fan of Jim Beam, in NJ/NY 7-Year-Old about $30 plus minus everywhere. It's a great value for money. Great lineup great review and I do have a soft spot for Haven Hill😅
Surprised by the results! My money would have been on the KC9, but that’s probably because I’m not a big Bakers fan. Thanks Jason!
If you can get it I would love to see what you think of Anita's Choice 6 grain bourbon please!
Dude upload some drumming videos already!! Been waiting for years! 🥁
For the algorithm
Probably unpopular, but I prefer the 7yr SmB Baker’s that preceded the 7yr SiB release by leaps and bounds. I still have 1 of those bottles. It was maybe $40 at the time.
The Bakers might not have been fair to put in there on price alone. Where I’ve seen it, it’s nearly twice as much as Knob 9.
Interesting to see how the Beam held up though. Can’t wait to try one.
For the algorithm
@@MrBstnredsoxfan34 you lost me.
I want to see which of the high end blends is the best. Please do a blind of Old Carter, Four Gate, Found North, and maybe add Compass Box.
I’ll have to try bakers
Nice battle! Baker’s 7 is a really nice mid priced pour! Cheers
Picked up a JB Black today at your recommendation…I like it fine
Yeah. Nice little bourbon for the money
Great video. It’s sad that KC9 is losing to JB7 and 6/8 year Evan Williams. Wonder what’s going on with KC9. Seems to have fallen off a cliff the last few years. My last two bottles have been alcohol and raw oak… nothing else. Used to have some citrus, tobacco, and leather in there. Makes me wonder if some older barrels used to get in the mix before they went crazy with the 15 and 18 year blends and the 120proof single barrels. Anybody know for sure what’s up?
Yup, don't know how long you have been drinkin KC small batch, so you may already know this, but from 1992 to 2016 was when it was really good & priced lower. In 2016 they dropped the 9yr age statement & to me that stuff did not taste like Knob Creek at all. Thought I was drinking something totally different. They brought the 9yr back in 2020, but didn't do much. Have only tried a couple bottles then, since they were not much different (if at all) than the NAS KC. From what you are saying, sounds like it's getting even worse. Think it is because of the reasons you said. They are probably using all 9yr barrels & from lower floors. To make all that 9yr SiB at 120P they have to use barrels from mid to upper floors only. Barrels on the lower floors would be lower than 120P, so those barrels are not even an option for SiB 120P, since only water can be added & they cannot be blended with other barrels to increase the proof (single barrel bottling).
Thanks for the info. I find that the quality has dropped on bourbon blends from most of the big brands or their better stuff is hard to find or they’re charging super high prices for single barrels instead of putting that good product in the blends or it’s an export only or the age is much younger than it used to be. Jim beam black going to 7 years is good to see but it used to be an 8 year product and even if they went 8 year at this point do you have the same problems you mentioned with KC9? This is all causing me to enjoy tequila much more. many high quality tequila brands are emerging due to demand of additive free offerings. It’s totally different than bourbon but the anejos are aged in exbourbon barrels so that’s something. Thanks again for the great response.
Will definitely be on the lookout for JB7, not a bad showing against something over 2x the price
I saw it coming that the winner would be Bakers 7. It's one of my all time favorite JB product. Really good sipper & widely available.
It’s the Eloy Casagrande of Bourbon!! Quad Bass! Amazing. Wish I could’ve gotten Jason C the 8 year age stated Extra Black I got in the bunker for this competition. Oh well.
Imma keep the Bass suggestions coming:
New Riff 8yr vs Four Roses Single Barrel vs Remus
A. Overholt vs New Riff Balboa vs New Riff Malted Rye vs Bardstown Origin Rye
Michter's rye vs Woodford rye vs Sazerac rye
Michter's 10yr rye vs Bulleit 12yr rye
Bakers are always wild cards. Of the last three i have had, none have been similar on the palate. Two were great, but the third was not enjoyable. Still a fan though. Great video Jason, keep em coming!
That blend though 🤣🤣
For a high end comparison, could you do a GTS v. Stagg v. EHT BP?
Evan Williams 1783 is such a killer value and great whiskey
pulling for 1783... before i watch video
Called it
I have serious fomo on this black 7 year lol the last 3 days I've been to over 10 stores around me and no one has it yet. I think the knob got snubbed by its positioning here, I like to go back to them after mixing them up 30 minutes after an initial taste. For me personally that usually levels the playing field from flavors building on the palette in order.
I hope we get the new Black Label here in the UK.
I like knob Creek, bakers 7 haven't tried the other two..
A great bourbon from the dueling grounds distillery in bowling green kty
Feeling good today 😂
IMO Bakers shouldn't have been in this flight being a single barrel and 107 proof...but what do I know Old Stunod here!! 🤣 Cheers Jason 🥃😎 also sorry for my tardiness I was in Ireland with IBN ☘️
No worries. Just went off of votes.
Interesting comparison. Is the Baker's 2-3 times better than the JB 7?
I would've preferred Heaven Hill BiB in the comparison as it is reportedly aged 7 years.
Jason, after watching your JB 7 Year review, I broke down and picked up a bottle a couple days ago.... snuck out during work hours to complete my mission. You're a bad influence! 😂
Hmmmm. I have had - well, after tonight I will have - all four of those. Even though Baker's is a top-10 favorite of mine, I am going to take a wild guess that KC 9 Year is going to take top honors. Let's see.......
LOL!!! I couldn't have been further off! But at least my favorite was the winner. So, one of those times where I was glad to be wrong.
Interesting blind. I'm not an Evan Williams 1783 fan, but I really like Knob Creek 9 yr and the Bakers 107 proof. I haven't seen the Jim Beam Black 7 yr in my area yet, but I can't wait to try it. I would have used Jim Beam single barrel at 108 proof instead of EW 1783. It would have been interesting to see which Beam product won out.😊
Another quadruple bass matchup idea: McKenna 10 vs. Russell's 10 vs. Eagle Rare vs. Knob Creek 9 SmB
French Oak Battle. Penelope vs Nulu vs Lucky Seven vs Makers.
Five words of engagement huzzah!
Haven’t tried the Jim Beam Black 7. Wouldn’t turn away any of the four.
Would have liked to seen Wild Turkey 101 in this lineup
Baker's was better when it was batched. Don't recall their reasoning behind changing it to a single barrel when Suntory redesigned the bottle and label. 🤘🥃
Comment & suggestion. Take that UA-cam
