    I’ve got the single barrel 9 yr. mine is oily and dense. I use it sometimes to make an old fashioned, well my version of an old fashioned. It definitely holds up to dilution. It’s a great bourbon. It’s my second favorite, first being makers mark cask strength. Great video. Always enjoy watching.

    I’m very new to whiskey and had only tried shot, but after seeing y’all I got the correct glasses and decided my first bottle be this knob creek single barrel. First taste it was okay. This time I’m trying it again while watching your review and I actually got the oak you did! I’m excited I finally got a not ethanol smell and enjoyed the whiskey more this time

    I still think knob single barrel is in my top 2 favorites. Never had a bad barrel pick, that increase in proof to 120 really impacts the level of flavors. Just solid taste. Mmm

      It's totally a differnet presentation than the 100 proof Knob Creeks. It just shows how proofing affects the flavors.

    Just got back from Jim Beam in Clarmont, Ky. Knob Creek is one of theirs. Amazing tour and tastings. Highly recommended. You should take the show on the road there! Made my own bottle of what you tried in this video. Pretty cool!

    I love the Single Barrel!! I drank it when I had COVID because it was a high proof Bourbon that would test my senses. I was surprised how much I was able to get on the nose and the palate. It’s a solid drinker and very enjoyable!!
    If you haven’t already, I’d love to see you try the Shibui 10 year Bourbon Cask Matured Whisky!! It didn’t need it, but I put it on a big rock and I swear I got sweet tea all over the forward palate. Hope you give it a go!
    Cheers!!

    I'm a Knob Creek fan through and through. It was my introduction into good bourbon. I tried this one today from my local B&M and must say this one will punch you in the face! Love the flavors though and a splash of water really opened it up for me. It made one hell of an old fashioned. Will definitely keep it around. I find lots of pepper notes in this one.

    I was looking for an ECBP substitute (since it is so hard to find/get) and this came up repeatedly in different forums. I got a bottle, and while it isn't as complex as the ECBP, I found it to be quite good and worth the purchase.

    Like Buckwheat Pancakes. Love those! They're only second to IHOP Pumpkin, or Magnolia's Gingerbread pancakes. Not a fan of what Sweet Tea has become though. I like it so cold it barely dissolves the sugar, so only the tea towards the bottom of the glass is sweet. Also, try White Corn cornbread. Much better than yellow.

      @joewilson4436 Рік тому +1

      @@jwalkblue7 yeah the 14/15 year picks are long gone. Thankfully I picked up a bunch when they were $35-40, though I'm starting to run low. The younger picks are good but not the same sort of thing. I don't think I've seen one over 10 years old in a while. I'll never complain about 9-10 year old 120pf single barrel store picks for about 50 bucks, but I miss the older barrels for sure

    • @karl_alan

      Midwestern grain products.
      It is a giant factory that produces most of the whiskey in the US, creating giant batches with a wide variety of different standardized mash bills (percentages of which grain).
      Independent whiskey distillers/sellers often reach out to them and buy bulk for the first few years they are open, so they have something to sell while their own internally made things are aging for the first times.
      And some distillers instead keep buying from MGP indefinitely, and then do interesting things like age it in a new climate, or put it in rum/wine barrels to finish it and do interesting new flavors.
