I want to profess my love for this track by explaining to non-musicians the beauty of the differences heard in the melody, which begins at 0:04, but is heard again at 0:50 and 2:08. When the melody is heard for the second time, at 0:50, it shifts up an octave. This means that the same notes are heard again, but the register is higher. Now at 2:06 is where the magic of an epic, anticipated "key change" occurs. In this key change, the shape of the melody stays the same but the notes used are different, giving it a different flavor, just as when a character sprite is recolored, the base form of the character stays the same. Hopefully this information allows you to appreciate this track even more.
Not entirely correct, the interval from the first melody to the second is not an octave. The first time the melody starts on the C note, and the second time it starts on the A note, so it's actually changed by a major sixth. So that's a pretty big key change already, going from A minor to F# minor as the tonic chord. At 2:06 it goes back into A, but as a major chord this time, which is the relative key of F# minor. The melody that's played then is a different one from before, with only the rhythm and note lengths staying the same (I guess that's what you described as well?). I'm not the best in music theory either, so let me know if I made any mistakes, lol. Fully agree on the appreciation part though, beautifully composed track!
Outstanding track, love the instrumentation, and the composition is also impeccable. The synths, guitars, organ and harpsichord are absolutely amazing. Really like the orchestra hits, too.
That 1:32 riff... and it's return powered up at 3:04, always gets me blood pumping. From the man who turned 'The Strongest Foe' into the Strongest theme, no less.
The problem is that Singa is faster, cheaper and people seems to enjoy his music, so it's more likely that his involvement in future games will be increased. It could gone either way, more decent stuff such as Lacrima Crisis but also more disastrous Nab the Tail, Troublemaker, and even less Jindo/Unisuga/Sonoda. Unless Falcom got significant mainstream recognition, things could go spiralling down quickly to the point of no return aka Singa solo =))
@@MaskedKingDavid Seriously, they need to drop him for Ys X and bring back some of the series past musical glory. So much of Ys IX soundtrack and even some of Ys VIII's were so forgettable.
I have a question for the channel owner. Is there a difference in audio quality between the CD rips and the Game rips for the games where you upload both? I have noticed differences sometimes but other times not. Do you, off the top of your head, know for which game's its better to download the CD versions vs Game rip?
It depends for the game, but from what I noticed, they started making most OST albums louder and more dynamically compressed in 2002. Things on that front started changing/improving with the hi-res version of Tokyo Xanadu eX+, in which tracks handled by internal composers sound softer and more dynamic (most likely, these are probably the original master without any/much post-production). Between 2017 and 2020, the CD version (which is what streaming services like Spotify has) is louder/more dynamically compressed, and the hi-res version (OTOTOY, Apple Music, etc) keeps the dynamics mostly intact for the internal music and just slaps a -3dB limiter into the louder outsourced music. This is why I've been using the hi-res versions for my album uploads, "hi-res" itself is pure snake oil. Seems they are now handling the CDs just like the 2017-2020 hi-res versions starting with Kuro/Ys X, so the hi-res version no longer has this advantage vs the CD's.
Why does everyone on every game OST video say "This sounds like Mega Man". Like what's next? "Koi is Love" from the Blue Archive OST sounds like Mega Man?
@@Sidtheriser07 Glad you like it! Overall, Ys IX honestly has one of the weakest osts in the series, but between Glessing Way, Wild Card, Desert After Tears, Alchemy Lab, Aprilis, Montrum Spectrum, Cloaca Maxima, and Dance with Traps it's probably got some of the highest highs of any Falcom soundtrack.
I was so surprised the first time I heard this. Me climbing an optional mountain to get to its peak just for some landmark reminded me so much of Ys VIII and I was like “no way this made this tune so epic for this one optional area.” Felt like so much soul and passion was put in just an optional quest. it was a real memorable moment that I honestly believe was one of the highlights of the entire game. then the tune popped up later in the game and I was kinda disappointed lol. Guess the budget really ain’t the greatest in falcom
Glessing way? more like Ys way!! This is how you Ys, Singa... smh Well, jokes aside, his works are sometimes good and sometimes bad. But tbf, his vibe and the Ys vibe the falcom sound team built up since ancient times doesn't sync well to me

Best song on the OST imo
Agreed
Introducing: "Gens D'armes" with "Seeking the Vanished Mask" synth
I love this theme so much
I love this synth as well.
Japanese Song composers really know how to raise the fighting spirit.
ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!!
Biggest banger in the whole game. This song is Ys as fuck.
Sliding around with Doll while this song is playing is easily one of the nicest moments ever. Her movement fits perfectly somehow.
Smooth dashing like a Megaman X title.
This is the track that makes me go on the options menu and up the music volume to the MAX
How are you not already playing the full game like this?!
If you don't play a falcom game like that you're doing it wrong
1:28 Rockman intensifies.
damn i love music
俺はイースⅥからイースを入ったが、この曲は吹き抜けるシンセサイザーがその時の感動を思い起こさせてくれる

0:34 Bloody Tears vibes.
RIGHT?! Came here just to bring that up.
Castlevania Bloody Tears vibes! Yeah.

my favourite track of this game by far 💙💙💙
Instant classic tbh
Give this man more tracks on next Ys game pls

@@_DuongucAn i do like a few of singa's songs, but more of him and less of unisuga sounds like a nightmare.
That's one of the reason we hate Singa, please understand

I love how it sounds so reminiscent of something out of Mega Man X. Hope it isn’t too long before this game is localized, looks sick.
I'm pretty sure part of the melody at 1:29 was lifted straight from X vs Zero from X5. But hey, I'm not complaining.
Whole OST is fire and I liked the game a lot.
2 days to go for steam release
