From outside this looks exactly like a traditional SE Asian fishing boat. That part of the world is covered with them: Big two story house on the back, clear forward for working, no idea about the interior of the Asdian ones, but I would presume a big hold for the catch more or less where that forward doghouse sits on the deck. They are usually set up for both purse net and trawling, and have some sail capability although i never saw one under sail, so it might be purely foir stabilization.
Amazing character on a very old boat with an amazing history.... Perfectly built for the Chesapeake or other well protected waters. The *only* thing that would really make me worry (and would be part of a very VERY thorough survey if I were going to seriously pursue this vessel) would be that diesel. It's ancient and, based on where it's located in the hull, would likely be prohibitively expensive to re-power should it catastrophically fail. This is going to be someone's ultimate awesome vessel and I hope the new owners have a great time with it.
Beautiful and in pristine condition. But I would suggest a couple of important lay-out adjustments before anything. Like transforming the lower double bed into another head, ending the extra passway on the main deck, which imposes ducking when below and adding a head to the master cabin (no problem to expand aft). That being said, it look heavy and unstable. I can see her in rivers and lakes.
Cool boat to live on for sure . Maybe putt around in the marina on the weekend even to show off such a classic...it's like a mini ship house cabin all in one
Cool boat. It looks like it can be blown right over and very top heavy. But I’m sure there is enough below to stabilize it. Lots of windage so could be fun in a marina. Yes, beautiful “character” boat. Main reason for price is that an all wood boat like this is a lot of maintenance that most today don’t care to take on. But I am sure it will appeal to the wood boat enthusiast.
I thought exactly the same... very high on the water with a draft of only 1.5 meter. But I guess she hasn't capsized in the past 90 years though, so she is probably okay ;-)
This boat is beautiful perfect for fishing on in Lake Erie because I never owned myself a boat before and I can use this boat to take my family on a cruise
Great Lakes? Oh no, I wouldn't chance it on such a large body of water, especially with the unpredictable weather that's enough to challenge even the "saltiest" of boats.
To add value and for me make the boat better would be to make the galley area much smaller and at the other end (where the seating area now is ) and convert the former galley space into a much larger lounge and eating area. Drawback of course would be taking apart all the beautiful varnished cupboards etc.
The price is a sin. Worth much more. I lived on working boats 9 months a year, up the inside passage working the Barring sea. If you know nothing of boats haul it out and beach it. Less cost of a new home or RV. Beautiful

The sail isn't for sailing. It's for keeping the boat from rolling back and forth in a beam sea, which can get very uncomfortable with all that top structure. The sail acts as the keel on a sailboat, sort of, by buffering the rolling motion as it scoops air back and forth. many workboat types use them.
Retired carpenter here who rebuilt a few 30'+ CC's and owns a log cabin in the woods, I don't have enough pain meds to own such a cool looking boat. Question. How do you back up as that pilot house only has front viewing windows?
Having watched an awful lot of ship wrecks involving modifications, particularly height, this l ooks pretty gosh darn top heavy, making me wonder what buoyancy/ballast mods were made and what testing was done.
She was built as a bay boat and that's where she should be used. These vessels would rely on oysters in the fish hold for ballast so I'm not sure if they added tankage for displacement and stability.
My dad had a 1913 75ft teak and mahogany boat kind of like this one, that was used to take stock brokers to work in Manhattan. It was BEAUTIFUL. I’ve always wanted to buy it back, but the guy won’t sell it. Plus, it’s like over a million now and I can’t afford that for sure. THIS, For 150k!!! I’d buy it tonight if my wife wouldn’t murder me. Is it still for sale. I may roll the dice…. It’s stunning. Do the engine run? What’s the catch???
1:41 You'd be surprised how much putting a sail up in the fore, once properly adjusted, will help keep the boat on track and steering true, you might pick up a knot or two as well as see a (usually) slight drop in fuel consumption; sometimes not so slight~ depending on the sails, the winds, the currents, the vessel's shape and structure. Not so great when frequently turning/changing coarse, but if you have an extra hand tending just to that it ain't so bad (this is usually a great job for the 12-14 year old on board; it's not a _"hard job"_ but important enough and requires just enough judgement to make it somewhat fulfilling when done well).
Thank's Whiterook. As the gentleman who made the video it's bbeautiful and I love it too. But it looks like it just came out of drydock with all that anew refit. It's definitely a bargain but you will spend $150K a year in maintenance, insurance, upkeep and dock fees. It's truly a beautiful boat. Thanks for taking your time to give me the price.
@@lisajohnson8566 Happy to help Lisa. Wow! I don't know anything about boats so I have no idea that maintenance can be that much. I agree, she's a beauty.
I by no means is a boat expert what so ever. Just looking at all that nice wood and paint and you buy varnish by the five gallon can. I've had a friend that had a varnish and paint boat and it was all work to keep it nice. Yea, my $150K yearly expense was probably a high guess but. That beautiful boat will take a ton of work but you will enjoy it.
It's a non-issue. This boat is designed to spend its life in protected waterways. With all of the modification it's much too top heavy to take into open water.
I wonder how many original planks and frames are in her-probably not many-if any. In case folks don't know, a buy boat was a solid unrefined, everyday working boat, that bought fish from the fishermen and then brought it to shore to sell. Saved fishermen alot of hassle. This boat may be on a traditional hull form, but it is a pimped out fantasy with no intrinsic historical value.
This is an incredible boat! It is easy to see this as a live-aboard but the cost of operation would be cost prohibitive and that's IF diesel fuel would be available for it in the foreseesble future. Even at the rediculously optimistic price of $5 / gallon of fuel, it would run $1,200 to fill it up and that would only take you, at best, 500 miles? I think this may explain the very favorable asking price. It sure is nice to look at , though.
A savvy pal calls a wooden boat in the tropics "fish food". You'd definitely want to take it out in unpleasant weather to see if that empty oyster hold has a negative effect on how she behaves in rough conditions. Be aware that increasingly corporations are acquiring marinas and banning overnights on board.
I’ve lived on a few big motor yachts and I loved every minute of them. That boat is one nice boat but keeping up with all that wood is a full time job, been there done that. But sweeeet!
Is it safe to do the Great Loop in? That looks like a total party boat for a man and an all female crew to make The Loop….. I’m interested….. can’t make any purchases until I have final word on my retirement in a coup,e months, but saving this video…
Yes it is nice. Zero doubt there. However I have a question about the refit. When a refit takes place there are crucial factors to take into specs. If not completely correct the boat will actually be very vulnerable at sea. The bow, the curve of the bow, including the load stability of beam etc. far too many have sunk because someone meant well but went way overboard so to speak with a refit. So it is just as crucial as it is functional and done correctly. Who can answer this question without bias?

It's a non-issue. This boat is designed to spend its life in protected waterways. With all of the modification it's much too top heavy to take into open water.
Great boat
Top heavy dock boat
I think it’s great as a docked live aboard. Plenty of room
What a beautiful boat! Not for poor folk, but gosh Gatsby take me home!
How much did it sell for? It’s magnificent
I WOULD HAVE PUT A MASTER BEDROOM DOWN FRONT!! BEAUTIFUL BOAT THROUGH OUT!!
Structural beams with knots
I wonder how many original planks and frames are in her-probably not many-if any. In case folks don't know, a buy boat was a solid unrefined, everyday working boat, that bought fish from the fishermen and then brought it to shore to sell. Saved fishermen alot of hassle. This boat may be on a traditional hull form, but it is a pimped out fantasy with no intrinsic historical value.
Looks a little top heavy.stabilitytest? Very pretty boat
This is a boat 4 living, not 4 boating. Gorgeous...!
It went to Florida! It can do BOTH!
Would the mast be considered the “BOOM STICK”? 😊
with how much houses cost nowadays this is a steal
Shame she isn't a blue water cruiser.
Beautiful interiors and definitely comfortable.
Have fun you guys!
Every boat does not need to a blue water candidate.
Hi bud,
I love this boat and the price lol.
Where is she currently moored ?
This is an incredible boat! It is easy to see this as a live-aboard but the cost of operation would be cost prohibitive and that's IF diesel fuel would be available for it in the foreseesble future. Even at the rediculously optimistic price of $5 / gallon of fuel, it would run $1,200 to fill it up and that would only take you, at best, 500 miles? I think this may explain the very favorable asking price. It sure is nice to look at , though.
And it's high maintenance and a money pit to maintain cool boat for someone with deep pockets
How much water does it draw ??
She is beautiful
Grand boat.
Yeap. Everyone wants to "own" everything. Modern Society and the lack of darwinism.
Be great to live on one in the Florida, Caribbean Port, it would be so cheap
I’ve lived on a few big motor yachts and I loved every minute of them. That boat is one nice boat but keeping up with all that wood is a full time job, been there done that. But sweeeet!
Is it safe to do the Great Loop in? That looks like a total party boat for a man and an all female crew to make The Loop…..
I’m interested….. can’t make any purchases until I have final word on my retirement in a coup,e months, but saving this video…
Спасибо за интересные проекты траулерных яхт
Yes it is nice. Zero doubt there. However I have a question about the refit. When a refit takes place there are crucial factors to take into specs. If not completely correct the boat will actually be very vulnerable at sea. The bow, the curve of the bow, including the load stability of beam etc. far too many have sunk because someone meant well but went way overboard so to speak with a refit. So it is just as crucial as it is functional and done correctly. Who can answer this question without bias?
That make a great houseboat
That is simply a house boat, never leave the dock, unless it is glass, but it would be cool to live on.
Great boat and great video, but you never really let us know how you felt about the boat.
so what's the price? Did i miss that part?
