It is not that bad. You can get the device for as low as $280. It runs on Android 12. True, the pen is smaller than most, but it writes well, erases nicely, and does not have the magnetic problems that other devices have near the edges. It does not have the accidental touch mistakes that other devices have. It is similar to a Boox Nova Air C. The difference between the two is that the Mobiscribe is a 2023 Kia and the Boox Nova Air C is a souped up 65 Camaro. One is newer in specs & not as flashy, but the latter runs well for what is under the older engine. Both are not perfect. I have found that e-devices still lack the necessary power to run perfectly, (or what we are used to in non-e devices), the Google play apps, surf the internet, etc.
yes, it's US based company so it has better privacy than Boox devices and also waterproof (that's why there is no sd card). The screen is SUNKEN so the quality of the eink image is BETTER since there is no additional layer like the flat bezel screen. The title is misleading.
If the price corresponds with the quality I think it's not a bad product. Still, the waterproof is huge for a lot of people, my sister doesn't want to buy a Boox to use Scribd because it's not waterproof and her sons do watersports so she's always at the pool, at the bay or on the beach
Actually it's a much better product than the price would indicate. I really love mine. It's not my all around everything workhorse. For a 7.8" drawing and doodling and creating forms for other devices, Reading, Everything you drop into the note app is editable. You can use layers for all sorts of things. In many ways this device far exceeds what you think it can do based on its price. It's just not fast enough to play videos or draw in third party apps. So what It's a great little device.
I'm very happy with my B&W Mobiscribe Wave. For the audio complaints, you can use bluetooth. To adjust screen optimizations by app, hold down on the app icon to reach display optimization settings.
This device is, as they say like nothing else in the industry. It's waterproof The native notes app is absolutely the best for any straightforward drawing and note-taking. Don't get too hung up on that kaleido 2 screen. It's one of the best screens and it compares favorably to my other devices that have kaleido 3. It's a simple little thing for reading and writing it plays well with the few third-party apps that you really need to use. It's price does not mean it's cheap. And we've gotten funneled into such a narrow view of eink devices you could miss the boat when a really cool quirky little device comes along.
The reality is is that competition is so stiff right now, this unit has absolutely nothing to offer that other manufacturers don't It is so utterly outclassed by more than seven other manufacturers that do exactly what this company is doing The lack of speed modes, expandable storage, and overall usability makes this unit virtually useless when you look at the competition
what color eink device does video well at this price (320 USD look it up)? Also you said it takes notes well, and the reading experience is clear and visually appealing. It's a waterproof eink device with a glow light, intuitive menus & icons &file explorer, and a color wacom screen for less than (google the device to see the real price....) the Nova Air. Who owns the information on the tablet? This will sell to consumers who want to send at least some of their money (for eink note-takers), to somewhere other than China.
That suspicion holds no wait because there's no direct evidence for any particular e-reader company who does or does not sell your information So that point falls off the cliff The reality is is that mobiscribe, in 2023 offers not one single thing in its repertoire, that anyone else cannot do It is so blatantly outclassed by any measurable metric, that it's not even close If it was close, we would say it's close, but it's not
OK but BOOX latest update on my Note Air (very laggy) says they want to use the mic every time I use their keyboard. I can't turn that off. They keep everything I type and write. I don't trust them because I know very little about who runs/governs the company.
@@goodereader Are any of the others waterproof? I honestly just want a good reading experience with waterproofing and Google Play so I can choose my bookstore. That seems to be pretty much non-existent with all the other options I've seen, so if you say that's not unique I'd love to know the better option.

I think sunken screens are underrated. On my 2019 Kindle, having a clear edge of the screen you can feel makes it a lot nicer to use the touchscreen to turn pages because you know exactly where you’re tapping. I’d rather have physical page turn buttons, but this option is a close second. Also for note taking, you have a hard stop at the edge of the screen so you don’t accidentally write off the edge.
It's still not a controllable set of speed modes Speed modes are critical to the success of any device in 2023. Not having speed modes is the nail in the coffin
There's this tight pack of devices all trying to be the same thing and then there's a constellation of other devices around the edges that are quite different. So instead of making it a brutal competition why not figure out which devices have what characteristics and abilities and match those to people so that the right person gets the right device. I've owned and handled numerous devices from a number of these different makers and there's something about each one that drives me up the wall and there are things about each one that are really really cool. I only ever tried to rank some with respect to one trait or another. The only device I've ever had that was only good in exactly 1 trait has been the Galy. The only thing we can use that for is reading. Months of fidgeting around to get it to work well enough for reading. Frankly the wave has competition for the bottom of the pack ... Especially when you consider price.
I respect y'all and your work but your title? Really? Given what Amazon and Barnes and noble have put out for a similar price point (more actually) in the past 12-24 months? Would you please cut a small indie company a little break, because, "the worst ereader"?Surely not?
Out of everything we have reviewed this year, and you can see our UA-cam channel, it is extensive, this is the worst performing unit. Yes. With things like the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes & noble, you get extensive ecosystems, amazing support, and they're sold and distributed by some of the largest companies in the world "Cut an indie company a break?" No, we won't. Because then that would be a genuine assessment of the end product. Just because a company is small, doesn't mean the device magically becomes good just because they're not as big as other companies. The unit is objectively poor, and it is our job to use our unbiased review process to vet every single device that comes across our desks
If someone wants an e-reader that just reads books in color and maybe light internet, and not replace the phone, this device might be good for the right price. I just doubt it charges the right price.
Someone can sell me and deliver me in France a mobiscribe wave ? They don’t sell it here so I’m pretty much in a difficult situation now, thanks to everyone and sorry for my bad English
I have both the Wave and the Origin. I like the writing feel of both, especially the Origin. I write super quick with these devices. I don't mind the slight slippery feel of the screen. I'm not that big a fan of the paper feel. This is the device for you if you need to jot things down fast!
@@99Leo I have the Origin and I'm looking to upgrade to the Wave. I saved my notes on an external SD card. Do you know if you'll be able to plug it into the Wave and upload my previous notes from the Origin?
Mobiscribe origin has kind of speed mode, but you have to change it a bit fiddly- compare mydeepguide - so this one should have it as well. Page turn animation should be possible to switch of?
Isn’t this device one of those devices that was geared towards destruction, free, reading, and writing and notetaking? Because if you look at it from that point then it’s not as bad as this guy says.
I wouldn't be surprised if they just went ahead and make a colored version just to have a color ereader since there is a b&w version of this. I was looking at the b&w version over this but went with an boox since no sd card reader. Still, its speed is interesting. If they have it so I can turn off all animations and have it refresh on each press maybe I'll look into this again just because I like the look of it.
By saying it's the "worst" you are limiting the opportunity for Mobiscribe to earn money. I wonder if you considered this important fact before publishing your review.
Yes we did, because we are impartial and unbiased, therefore we must say things like they are. Wanting them to get money or saying "they're good" because it would be detrimental otherwise would be considered a biased review We will not change our journalistic integrity unfortunately.
