Ah, that makes much more sense on how to use those insulators, I'll be doing that from now on. I do agree though, that electric wire doesn't need a lot of tension.

The double wrap of wire in the insulator , simple ! would of kept pulling them apart ,but I did wonder how tough they were ,thanks

Just moved on to 11 acres and had to put up poly tape on pickets to retain the horses we got, but will be looking at rest of the fence line. Thanks so much for your very informative and concice videos, jam packed with little jewels of knowledge. Just one question for now, what is the spacing of your posts? I have 7m between my pickets for the poly tape, but will be looking at HT wire for boundary fence.

Tim, thanks for the good info. Could you drive a pipe and pull the amount of tension necessary for this type of fence without the H brace? Doesn't seem that there is that much stress on the ends to warrant an H brace.
Once you got the wire tight from one end,,how did you tighten the lose end as it has a insulator on the other,,,,,you didn't show this......
If you are interested I have a little stronger way I can share with you that works equealy as well. Also when your are on your hot side of your wire you can make a quick wrap on your led and foot to hold your wire like a 3ed hand!!! - great video

Not being born in Australia I never even had remotely anything like AG as a subject; now through circumstances I am having to manage a farm that otherwise would have to be sold so this type of step by step videos are proving to be invaluable especially it is all FREE! Thank you Tim for this kind of masterclass...By the way Tim I seem to struggle a lot with the strainers. I have a hayes one like yours but it has a spring and I find it a nuisance and hard to slip the chain through. Did you take your spring off or did you buy it like that?

Hey Tim, love your fencing skills. Working on an electeic fence for about 30 acres right now. Using insulators. What I'm having troubles at right now is in corners where I have end strainers going to each fence length out from the corner like you have here at your termination. But, what's the best way to jump the electric fence wires? Right now I just jump with poly that cuts off the corner, but would love a more elegant solution. Any tips?
Thanks for your thoughts, Tim. What you're saying sounds pretty much like what I'm doing. To avoid using the standoffs on the wooden H termination, I've done the bullnose on the live side (outside) of the H. I then jump from these live wires to the live wires on the other fence coming into the junction (and its own H termination) to successfully navigate the corner with electricity. Thinking now maybe I should have offset the wooden H post to try and equally balance the force being applied from the wires and only requiring 4 bullnoses instead of 8.. I was worried the high tensile 4 strand fence would pull the post over I guess..
Australian HT wire looks easier to work with than UK 12 ga stuff. What diameter is it?

Sounds like a problem with your insulators.

Hi Tim . what wire is better for electric fencing high tensile or aluminium wire and how to strain the aluminium wire and is tying off the same as high tensile. I know the video has been made a long time ago but i am just going over your videos again
Hi mate. Use highly conductive aluminium coated wire for lead outs to increase fence performance. Normal perimeter and internal wires should be fine with normal high tensile wire. I’m planning a video on wire choice soon

Some gloves would probably help you grip the insulated part a little better gloves are your friend
Yea that's not to good I'm a fencer and I'd tell you to redo that and there is a whay to make it nice and tidy I can show you how to put tension on a slack Wire I can show you ore explain it to you
